Chapter 156: The Revolution Is Not Me

The best thing about a picture is that it never changes, even when the people in it do.

But Zane hoped from all his life for that the picture in the hands of the Warden to change.

However, hope and he had a relationship of a lover who could only look at his love through the window.

So the photograph didn’t change and the Warden recognized Zane.

The man’s voice gave up on him.

The day which was going as a simple patrolling turned to something else.

He found the man everyone was looking for.

Out of all the Wardens, he found the culprit.

His hands trembled.

His eyes widened.

But Zane knew it wasn’t out of fear.

He had seen and felt enough fear to recognize it.

Instead of fear, the warden had something else.

"Today is my lucky day."

He was happy.

Zane had never thought of such a scenario.

Yes, he had thought of him being caught but not today. Not during a simple task of taking money from Hena.

"Take mine!" Jammy shouted.

Zane looked at him but couldn’t because a red scarf came on his face.

Jammy gave his scarf to Zane.

Zane wasted no time and covered his face once more.

"Run! I will handle him!" Jammy shouted once more.

"No. You come too!" Zane yelled in return.

"I will be fine. Don’t get caught!"

"He will not catch me. They must only be told to find out my location. I haven’t done anything to be captured."

Jammy gritted his teeth.

"Don’t argue wit—"

"Wow. You are smart." The warden interrupted Jammy.

He kept the photograph under his armor again.

"Yes. We are only ordered to know your location. The prize for that information is promotion. But..."

The warden grinned.

"If I capture you then I will get an even bigger prize."

"Are you stupid?" Jammy barked.

The warden glared at him.

But Jammy wasn’t afraid.

"If they wanted you to capture him, why would they order you to only reveal his location? In fact, you would be punished if you capture him."

"Of course you will say this. But I won’t come to your talks. I am taking him with me."

The warden spread his arms and jumped towards Zane.

But Jammy jumped at the same time and kicked the man in his jaw.

The man slammed on the boundary wall of the mansion.

But the kick hurt his pride.

"You bastard. Now you will pay for this."

The warden clenched his jaw and stood up.

But he didn’t fight.

Instead of fighting, he raised his hands and brought them around his mouth.

He then took a deep breath and Zane’s heart skipped a beat.

Shit.

"Zane Atlas is in front of me! He is here! Everyone! Zane Atlas is here! The man in the scarf is Zane Atlas! Capture him! The young man is Zane Atlas! Zane Atlas is here!"

The Warden announced Zane’s presence.

And in the blink of an eye, Wardens swarmed in like roaches.

All of them had the photo in their hands but they couldn’t confirm it.

Zane’s face was covered.

"Don’t worry! He is Zane Atlas. Believe me. I saw his face. He was here to take money from that traitor bitch! Capture him!"

All the Wardens roaming in the Blue Rose area gathered and they blocked Zane’s path.

He only saw weapons and armored men, gawking at him like hungry vultures.

Jammy and Zane stood beside each other.

"But we were only ordered to reveal his location." One warden said.

Another warden nodded. "Yes, Vehran. We are not supposed to capture him."

Vehran, the warden who first saw Zane, clenched his hair.

"You are out of your mind! If we capture him we will get rewards. He is already a thief. The rich populace is angry with him. We will get support. Money. We will get many things. Stop being a pussy and let’s capture him!"

Zane looked around.

Vehran’s words changed the expressions of the surrounding wardens and that was all Zane needed to figure out their decision.

"Let’s capture the filth then!"

They would capture him.

The wardens inched closer to Hena’s mansion.

They created a circle outside the house.

Not one man made haste.

Like a predator, their eyes watched Zane and Jammy.

They would keep shortening the circle until their targets had no place to move.

Zane and Jammy looked around them helplessly.

"Jammy," Zane whispered. "I will jump from here and run."

"You can’t jump that far. You will fall on them."

"But I have to get away. They will run after me and you will use the chance to get out of here."

"I am not leaving you." Jammy refused right away.

"You are not understanding it. They are not after you. They want me. So they will chase me. You are a janitor for slum’s sake."

"Kid, there are at least five hundred of them. You can’t outrun them."

"I might not. But you will survive at least."

"If you died, what about the revolution?"

"The revolution is not from me, Jammy. Even if I die, the revolution will stay alive as long as a child cries against wrong."

Jammy bit his lip.

He remained silent.

The Wardens drew closer.

"Angh. Fuck this. Alright. I accept your idea. But I want a change."

"What?"

"You won’t jump."

"Then how will I make them run after me?"

"I will throw you."

"You can?"

"Yes. Don’t underestimate a chain smoker."

Zane chuckled.

"Sure. Do it then. We don’t have time."

Jammy nodded and held Zane’s shirt with both his hands.

He held Zane around his lungs and made a grip.

The wardens frowned and before they could think something, Zane brought their attention to himself.

He removed his scarf.

All eyes focused on his face and when they matched it with the photograph...

"It’s really him."

They became sure of it.

And along with assurance, they became more eager to capture him.

And that was what Zane needed.

Their desperation to capture him.

Only him.

And their eagerness got the best of them as instead of a slow approach, they dashed.

The circle shortened in a second but before they could succeed, Jammy was finally ready to do his work.

He raised Zane with his hands and with all his being...

"Take the bait, you mindless urchins."

Jammy launched Zane over the Wardens.
