Chapter 1367: Chapter 687: Burying a Youth in His Prime
Staring at Ji Fan’s diminishing figure, Lin Beichen fell into deep contemplation. His heart was filled with confusion, unsure whether what awaited him was fortune or calamity, and uncertain if he and Xuanzhen Temple could smoothly weather the challenges ahead.
As his thoughts raced, Lin Beichen couldn’t help but close his eyes in pain, clouds of gloom and worry shrouding his handsome face. He took a deep breath, trying his best to calm down, then turned around to arrange the next steps.
After everything was arranged, Lin Beichen hurried to find Lan Zihua. Seeing his appearance, Lan Zihua instantly had a foreboding feeling. She nervously approached him and asked, "What happened? Is there something wrong?"
With a serious expression, Lin Beichen nodded and said, "Yes, there is indeed a small issue that needs your help." Saying this, he took Lan Zihua to the door, only slightly relaxing once he confirmed no one was around.
Seeing this, Lan Zihua became even more anxious. She had never seen Lin Beichen act so cautiously, instinctively feeling that the matter was certainly significant. She swallowed, trying to remain calm, and asked, "What exactly is it? Just tell me directly."
Lin Beichen looked at her and said gravely, "Do you still remember what I told you before? It’s become troublesome now, related to Xuanzhen Temple."
Upon hearing this, Lan Zihua’s heart tightened. Though somewhat puzzled, Lin Beichen’s tone clearly showed confidence in the matter. She nodded, signaling Lin Beichen to continue.
Seeing this, Lin Beichen felt slightly comforted. He knew Lan Zihua was highly intelligent, quickly grasping many things. He continued, "I’m facing some trouble now that can’t be separated from Xuanzhen Temple. I don’t know what to do next, but I don’t want to stand by and see those people succeed."
Upon hearing this, Lan Zihua understood most of it. She said seriously, "What do you plan to do? There’s definitely a bigger mastermind behind this; just dealing with these people isn’t enough."
Lin Beichen couldn’t help but smile at her words. He appreciated Lan Zihua’s sharpness and decisiveness, as having her by his side made many things much easier. He softly said, "Don’t worry, I already have a plan. People may come to investigate soon. No matter what they ask, you shouldn’t answer."
Lan Zihua paused at his words, then quickly reacted. She nodded and said, "Not answer at all? What if their questions are useful to you?"
Lin Beichen shook his head and said, "No need. I’ve entrusted others to handle it; you just need to keep quiet. If you appear suspicious, you’ll easily arouse their suspicion, and then we’ll alert the enemy."
With that, he placed his hands on Lan Zihua’s shoulders, locking eyes with her, solemnly saying, "I trust only you to handle this, Lan Zihua, you must trust yourself too."
His actions were natural, his broad body almost encircling Lan Zihua.
From a distance, it looked as if he was holding her tightly in his arms.
Feeling the pressure from him, Lan Zihua grew a bit nervous. Her face slightly red, she pushed Lin Beichen away and said with her head lowered, "I understand, don’t worry. No matter who asks me, I’ll say I don’t know. As for other matters, I’ll adapt accordingly."
Lin Beichen nodded at her words, considering a major task settled. He glanced at the surroundings outside; there wasn’t much time left. He spoke softly, "I have another task to attend to, so I’ll leave now. Remember what I said."
Lan Zihua nodded, watching him leave with concern. Lin Beichen’s figure soon disappeared into the night, leaving her with a sense of worry. But she trusted in Lin Beichen’s abilities, believing he would handle everything well.
After leaving Lan Zihua, Lin Beichen headed directly for Celestial Cloud Temple. He had a hunch that even visiting again might yield new discoveries.
Sure enough, upon reaching the temple square, he saw three people standing in the center. Since the distance was somewhat far, he couldn’t clearly make out their faces.
Lin Beichen dared not advance rashly, fearing to alert the enemy. He could only watch these three individuals from afar, observing their every move.
The three stood in the center, quietly discussing something. Unfortunately, Lin Beichen couldn’t hear anything from his spot, growing increasingly anxious.
Just then, the moon emerged from behind the clouds, casting a pale light.
Using the moonlight, Lin Beichen could finally see one of the individuals clearly. He was shocked — it was the missionary who had wanted to engage in magical combat with him earlier! It seemed this matter was indeed related to him!
Lin Beichen secretly pondered, deciding not to act hastily. He stealthily moved closer, finding a visual blind spot.
Thinking he could hear their conversation from here, it was still futile. Maybe because the trio spoke too softly, Lin Beichen tried various methods but couldn’t hear.
Growing increasingly anxious, especially seeing them right in front yet unable to hear a thing. Was he going to miss such a golden opportunity? He couldn’t simply watch it slip away!
Resolute, he searched his person, finally pulling out a talisman and a bag of red powder from his pocket. Dipping his forefinger in some of the powder, he wrote and drew on the talisman. Before long, a fresh invisibility talisman was ready.
