Chapter 1366: Chapter 686: Searching for an Exit (Part 2)

Finally, he arrived at the square of the Celestial Cloud Temple, and just as he was about to leave, a group of journalists suddenly swarmed in.

They seemed to have sniffed out a big news story and rushed towards Lin Beichen. Some were holding microphones wanting to interview him, while others were carrying cameras, filming continuously.

The journalists and photographers were very curious about Lin Beichen’s presence at the Celestial Cloud Temple, but what intrigued them even more was the mysterious bag on Lin Beichen’s back. They surrounded Lin Beichen, aiming their cameras at the bag, trying to uncover its secrets.

Lin Beichen’s heart tightened. He knew well that if the secret of the bag was discovered, he would find himself in an inexplicable predicament. He could only dodge and cover, trying to prevent the journalists from discovering the truth about the bag. He felt somewhat overwhelmed by the journalists’ relentless questions.

"Mr. Lin, why are you here today?" one journalist asked first.

"Master Lin, what are you carrying on your back? Could you tell us a little about it?" another journalist immediately followed up.

"Excuse me, Mr. Lin, as a successor of Daoism, why are you here at the Celestial Cloud Temple? Is there some cooperation between you?" yet another journalist interjected.

"Mr. Lin, there are rumors that you intend to set up several Daoist schools to promote Daoist spirit. Is that true?" The journalists’ questions surged in like a tide.

Lin Beichen felt a bit overwhelmed, but he couldn’t reveal the true reason for his presence or that the bag he carried contained a corpse. He could only deflect and answer some innocuous questions.

"Yes, as one of the successors of Daoism, I have the responsibility and duty to pass down the spirit and body techniques of Daoism," he replied.

"Indeed, I do plan to establish a few schools for studying Daoism," he continued responding to the journalists’ questions.

"As for why I’m here at the Celestial Cloud Temple today... actually, it’s to learn. I wanted to understand the differences between managing a temple and a Daoist temple," he tried to divert the journalists’ attention with these words.

However, the journalists did not easily let him off. "Mr. Lin, you still haven’t answered what you’re carrying on your back," a journalist asked again.

Lin Beichen’s heart jolted, but he maintained a facade of composure.

"My journalist friends, I have some matters to handle next. In a few days, you will know the purpose of my visit. Thank you for your interviews. If possible, I will hold a press conference to invite my media friends to join," he said. With that, he leapt onto the rooftop and then jumped off, quickly disappearing from sight.

The journalists and photographers left behind stood there in shock. A few dedicated journalists continued their broadcast: "Friends, Lin Beichen, Mr. Lin, is determined to promote the Daoist spirit. He practices what he preaches, mastering Daoist body techniques with great proficiency. Just now, everyone saw how quickly Mr. Lin vanished from our sight, proving his impressive skills."

"Our team is very curious about the bag Mr. Lin carries, but unfortunately, Mr. Lin did not reveal its contents. However, he promised to hold a press conference in a few days to share his insights on Daoism’s succession and development. We will continue to follow Lin Beichen’s contributions to the inheritance of Daoist spirit."

After leaving the Celestial Cloud Temple, Lin Beichen carried the heavy bag of corpses to the back mountain. He intended to find a Feng Shui treasure spot to bury these deceased children. Using his knowledge of Feng Shui from Daoism, he carefully surveyed the terrain.

"Now I write with my pen to the Celestial Court, Confucius gifts me the writing brush, accomplished in the world by me! Adding a red stroke at the top, generation after generation of scholars! Advance, Manifest!" he muttered to himself, reciting a Feng Shui ritual for marking the tombstone.

After a thorough investigation, he finally found a satisfactory location.

"Not bad, this spot facing south with its back to the north is a good Feng Shui treasure land. It’s a good choice to bury the children here," he murmured to himself.

Next, Lin Beichen contacted friends to transport a fine coffin up the mountain. He personally placed the children’s corpses into the coffin for burial. Then, he contacted professionals to perform the funeral rites for the children. Watching the ceremonies proceed smoothly, Lin Beichen finally breathed a sigh of relief.

This time, he managed to escape death and fulfill others’ wishes, which was a good deed.

Next, he should return to the Xuanzhen Temple. There were still many things awaiting his handling there.

After finishing these matters, Lin Beichen rushed to the Xuanzhen Temple. He hailed a taxi and soon arrived near the Xuanzhen Temple.

However, when he saw the Xuanzhen Temple surrounded layer upon layer by police, his heart sank, knowing things were not looking good.

Now that the Xuanzhen Temple was strictly controlled, if he went in at this moment, he would surely get into trouble.

So, he decided to hide for a while and sneak in at night when there were fewer people. To keep an eye on the Xuanzhen Temple, he ordered a bowl of noodles at a nearby noodle shop and stayed there until evening.

Thinking it over, he felt that this situation was beyond his control. The only solution now was to discuss countermeasures with Ji Fan. So, after leaving the noodle shop, he hid until deep into the night, then went to Ji Fan’s residence.

He knocked on the door gently, "knock, knock, knock."

The door opened, and Ji Fan saw it was Lin Beichen, and asked in surprise, "Lin Beichen, why are you..."

"Say no more, let me in first," Lin Beichen interrupted Ji Fan, anxiously saying, "I’m in trouble now, you must help me. Right now, the only one who can help me is the Huo Group, so I’ve come to ask for your help."

Ji Fan, hearing Lin Beichen being so polite, casually waved his hand, then asked worriedly, "Lin Beichen, what happened this time? Can you tell me?"

Lin Beichen let out a long sigh and told Ji Fan everything that had happened recently.

"What? That missionary is planning to target you and Xuanzhen Temple?" Ji Fan was shocked after hearing.

"Yes, in short, I’m in big trouble now. Several groups are planning to take action against me. I barely escaped from the Celestial Cloud Temple," Lin Beichen said helplessly, "I wanted to return to the Xuanzhen Temple to see what was happening inside, but there were police outside, so I had to come to you first."

"I understand, I understand," Ji Fan comforted, "Brother Lin Beichen, don’t worry for now. Since it’s not convenient for you to show up, you might as well hide here. I’ll head to the Huo Group right now. You don’t need to worry, have a good rest. As soon as I get any results, I’ll contact you immediately."

Lin Beichen was still a bit uneasy, repeatedly instructing, "This time, it’ll all depend on you. When you get to the Huo Group, just say you want to see Miss Huo Ziyan. Then you can tell her about my situation. Once she hears about my issues, she will definitely help me."

"One more thing," Lin Beichen continued, "If you don’t get to see Huo Ziyan, please don’t tell anyone else about my matters. The Huo Group is not as simple as it appears on the surface. We don’t know the hidden problems. So, for our own safety, make sure to tell Miss Huo Ziyan personally after meeting her."

"Don’t worry, Lin Beichen," Ji Fan solemnly promised, "I understand. Rest assured and wait here. I’ll take care of this matter."

After Lin Beichen explained everything to Ji Fan, Ji Fan set out for the Huo Group overnight.
