Chapter 215: Chapter 215

Irina’s POV

The violent, chaotic world around me completely stopped spinning.

Roman was still aggressively shouting commands. Andrei was violently kicking the dead rogues out of the way. The royal guards were frantically rushing through the dark, frozen woods. I knew they were there. I knew the bloody, terrifying battle had just ended.

But I couldn’t hear a single thing.

All the deafening noise simply faded into absolute, terrifying silence. The howling winter wind completely vanished. The aggressive, sickening stench of fresh death entirely faded from my nose.

I violently threw myself into the frozen, bloody mud. I aggressively grabbed Nicholas’s massive shoulders. I completely pulled his heavy, brutalized body into my lap.

He was so incredibly heavy.

"Nicholas," I whispered. My voice violently shook. It sounded so fragile. It sounded completely broken.

His head aggressively rolled backward over my arm. His thick, dark hair was entirely matted with hot, sticky blood. His incredibly handsome face was completely drained of color. He was terrifyingly pale. He looked like carved, frozen marble in the harsh, glaring moonlight.

He was stiff. His thick, massively muscled body was completely rigid. The fierce, burning Alpha heat that always radiated from his skin was entirely gone. The freezing winter air had already aggressively seeped into his heavy bones.

I violently grabbed his large, rough hand. I pressed it aggressively against my own freezing, dirty cheek.

"Nicholas, look at me," I pleaded quietly. "Open your eyes. The fight is over. We won. Please, just look at me."

His thick, dark eyelashes didn’t even flutter. He remained completely motionless.

Pure, icy terror violently exploded directly in my chest.

I aggressively moved my trembling, bloody hands back to his face. I violently pressed two shaking fingers directly against his firm, pale lips. I waited. I desperately prayed to the Moon Goddess. I held my own breath entirely.

Nothing.

There was absolutely no warm air. He wasn’t breathing.

I violently panicked. I aggressively tore at the collar of his ruined tactical armor. I practically ripped the heavy fabric apart with my bare hands. I violently slammed my ear directly against his broad, bloody chest. I pressed my skin hard against his freezing flesh.

Silence.

There was absolutely no heartbeat. There was no deep, heavy, comforting rhythmic thumping. The incredibly powerful, unstoppable Alpha King was completely silent. The massive, terrifying heart that loved me was entirely still.

"No," I gasped. The word violently tore out of my dry throat. "No, no, no, no! Nicholas!"

I aggressively grabbed him by his heavy, shredded tactical vest. I violently shook his massive chest.

"Nicholas!" I screamed wildly. "Wake up! Damn it, wake up! You are the Alpha King! You do not get to die! You do not get to leave me!"

He didn’t twitch. He didn’t react at all. The silence was absolutely deafening. It violently crushed my soul.

"Nicholas!" I screamed again. I completely tore my vocal cords. The sound was a raw, agonizing, animalistic wail. It was the desperate, terrifying cry of a completely shattered mate. It violently pierced the freezing night sky.

I violently reached inward. I desperately searched for our ancient mate bond. I frantically clawed at my own soul, looking for his warm, dominant, fiery presence.

It felt completely hollow. It was absolutely empty. It felt like standing alone on the edge of a massive, dark, terrifying cliff.

He was entirely gone.

The realization violently hit me like a speeding freight train. I completely broke.

The massive, heavy dam inside my heart entirely shattered into a million pieces.

Hot, blinding tears violently flooded my eyes. I couldn’t hold them back. I didn’t want to hold them back. I completely stopped trying to be strong. I was just a completely broken girl losing her entire world.

I sobbed uncontrollably. My entire body violently shook with pure, agonizing grief.

"You promised me!" I cried hysterically. My words violently choked on my own heavy sobs. "You promised you would protect me! You promised we would figure this out together! You liar! You absolute liar!"

Heavy tears fell aggressively from my cheeks. One by one.

They violently smashed against his cold, incredibly pale face. They violently splashed against his strong, perfect jawline. They aggressively mixed with the dark, terrifying blood heavily smeared across his skin.

I frantically tried to wipe his face. My small, shaking hands were completely covered in filthy mud and his royal blood. I violently scrubbed at his cold cheeks. I desperately tried to clean the dirt from his beautiful features. I wanted him to look like my proud King again.

It was completely useless. He just looked so incredibly broken.

"Please," I begged miserably. I completely collapsed over his massive frame. I violently pulled his heavy, silent chest tight against my own shaking body. I aggressively buried my wet, freezing face directly into his thick, blood-soaked neck.

"Please, Nicholas. Please don’t leave me," I sobbed desperately. "I can’t do this without you. I am absolutely nothing without you. I will entirely die without you."

The absolute, terrifying reality of losing him violently crushed my soul into tiny pieces. I hated myself. I absolutely despised myself.

I was so incredibly stupid. I was so damn blind for so long.

"I’m so sorry," I sobbed frantically. My voice completely broke. "I’m so incredibly sorry, Nicholas. I was just so scared. I was absolutely terrified."

I violently gripped his ruined, bloody tactical shirt. My small knuckles turned completely white from the aggressive, desperate force.

"I was terrified of being hurt again!" I cried wildly at his silent face. "I was absolutely terrified of trusting a powerful Alpha! I completely pushed you away because I was a coward! I was a pathetic, broken coward!"

I violently shook his cold shoulders again. My hot tears aggressively poured down my face.

"But I love you!" I screamed. I completely poured my entire soul out into the freezing woods. "Do you hear me, Nicholas?! I love you! I love you so much it physically hurts! It feels like my chest is violently ripping open!"

He just lay there in the bloody snow. Completely lifeless. Entirely gone.

"I was just a completely broken Omega," I cried hysterically. The painful, agonizing words violently poured out of my shattered heart. "I was absolutely nobody. I scrubbed floors. I took brutal beatings. I was entirely worthless. But you saw me. You completely claimed me! You aggressively protected me!"

I couldn’t stop. I didn’t even try to breathe. The agonizing confessions violently tumbled out of my mouth.

"You made me feel beautiful," I sobbed desperately. "You made me feel incredibly strong. You looked at a completely broken, pathetic girl and you proudly called her your Queen! You made me a true Luna!"

My hot tears violently rained down on his pale, handsome face.

"I was so incredibly stubborn," I whimpered miserably. "I fought you every single day. I made everything so damn hard for you. But I loved you the entire time! I loved you from the very first moment you looked at me with those beautiful, intense eyes!"

"Please, Moon Goddess, please!" I screamed aggressively at the dark, frozen sky. "Don’t take him! Take me! Let me tell him I love him! Let me show him!"

I cried harder and harder. My tears were absolutely endless.

My entire body violently shook with uncontrollable, agonizing, heavy sobs. I was completely falling apart. My mind was entirely breaking under the sheer, brutal weight of the tragedy.

"Nicholas, please!" I sobbed aggressively. I violently clutched his broken body as tight as I possibly could. "I love you! I love you! I am entirely yours! Just wake up! Please, God, just wake up!"

A massive, heavy drop of my hot tear violently fell from my chin. It aggressively splashed directly onto the center of his bloody, ruined chest.

Then another fell. And another. And another.

My hot, desperate tears completely soaked directly into the thick, ruined fabric of his tactical shirt. The dark, terrifying crimson blood aggressively mixed with my heavy, endless crying. The wet patch on his broad chest grew larger and larger.

I violently buried my head against his unmoving chest, completely refusing to let him go. I entirely surrendered my completely shattered heart to him in the freezing, bloody snow.

Beneath my trembling, tear-soaked hands, the fabric of his shirt faintly emitted a weak light.
