Chapter 213: Chapter 213

Irina’s POV

My voice tore through the freezing fog. It was a vicious, undeniable command.

"Kill them all."

The four massive rogues instantly froze. They snapped their ugly, scarred faces toward the tree line. Their eyes widened in absolute shock. They saw me standing there, completely covered in dirt and blood. They saw Roman and Andrei flanking me, their heavy weapons raised and ready.

But they saw something else, too.

Behind us, the dark forest violently erupted.

Dozens of heavy footsteps crashed aggressively through the dead brush. Flashlights sliced through the thick mist like bright, jagged knives. Low, terrifying snarls echoed through the freezing air. Our massive reinforcement troops were finally here. Pack warriors poured into the clearing behind me, their eyes glowing with lethal intent.

"More of them!" one of the rogues shouted in panic. His voice cracked with pure terror. "Run! Move!"

They didn’t drop Nicholas.

Instead, they aggressively tightened their dirty grips on his limp body. They hoisted my Alpha higher onto their massive shoulders and bolted. They turned their backs to us and sprinted furiously into the dense, dark woods.

"Don’t let them get away!" Roman roared.

Gunfire immediately shattered the silence. The deafening cracks of rifles echoed violently off the jagged mountains.

But I didn’t wait for the warriors. I didn’t wait for Roman or Andrei.

I just ran.

My boots slammed aggressively into the icy mud. I sprinted after them with everything I had. My eyes were completely locked onto Nicholas. I watched his heavy, armored arm violently sway with every single step the rogues took. I watched his dark blood drip onto the pristine white snow.

*No. You can’t take him. You will not take him!*

"Irina! Wait!" Andrei shouted behind me.

I completely ignored him. I ignored the bullets flying past me. I ignored the terrifying, chaotic shouts of our warriors surging forward.

My entire world narrowed down to one single, desperate goal. I had to reach Nicholas.

I pushed my human legs faster. The cold wind violently whipped my face, but my blood was boiling. I closed the distance. I dodged a massive pine tree, sliding on the slippery gravel, but I instantly caught my balance and kept sprinting.

Then, something went incredibly wrong.

A sudden, terrifying heaviness slammed into my chest.

I gasped aggressively. It felt like I had just run straight into a solid brick wall. My lungs completely seized. A deep, burning fever instantly ignited in my veins.

I stumbled forward, my boots suddenly feeling like they were made of solid lead.

*What is happening?*

I tried to push forward, but my body violently rebelled. A crushing, impossible weight pressed down on my shoulders. It felt like gravity had suddenly multiplied by ten.

The rogues were getting further away. They were moving incredibly fast, their massive legs tearing through the snowy underbrush.

"Nicholas!" I screamed desperately.

I forced my legs to move. I fiercely bit my lip until I tasted warm, metallic blood. I used the sharp pain to keep myself awake. I forced my heavy, aching muscles to keep pumping.

But the terrifying weight only got worse.

It wasn’t just exhaustion. I knew what exhaustion felt like. This was entirely different. This was a deep, structural agony. My bones felt like they were literally melting inside my flesh. My spine burned with a white-hot, electric fire.

Every single step was pure torture. My knees buckled.

"Luna! Get down!" a warrior yelled from somewhere behind me.

I couldn’t hear him properly. The chaotic sounds of the forest were suddenly incredibly muffled. All I could hear was the violent, rushing sound of my own heartbeat. It was completely deafening. It hammered against my ribs so hard I thought my chest was going to explode.

*Don’t fail me now,* I begged my fragile body. *Please, don’t fail me now!*

I gritted my teeth aggressively. I forced another step. Then another.

The burning sensation aggressively spread down my legs and up into my neck. My skin felt like it was on fire. I was sweating profusely despite the freezing snow. My vision started to blur. The dark edges of the forest violently swirled into a terrifying black tunnel.

I was losing him. I was actually losing him.

Through my blurry vision, I saw the rogues disappearing behind a massive cluster of jagged rocks. Nicholas’s limp body was vanishing into the thick, dark fog.

The mate bond inside my chest violently screamed. It pulled me so hard I felt like my soul was ripping in half.

"No!" I sobbed. "Give him back!"

I reached my absolute physical limit.

My lungs were completely empty. My heart was failing. The crushing weight on my bones became absolutely unbearable. A sharp, blinding pain violently snapped right down the center of my spine.

I tripped.

My foot caught on a thick, icy root. I didn’t even have the strength to put my arms out to catch my fall.

The dark, freezing ground rushed up to meet my face. The black tunnel completely closed in on my vision.

I was passing out. My weak, pathetic human body had finally given up. I was going to collapse right here in the mud, and they were going to take my mate forever.

Total darkness consumed my mind.

But a split second before my face hit the icy dirt—before the darkness could completely swallow me—everything exploded.

*CRACK.*

A deafening, violent sound echoed inside my own skull.

It was the sound of my bones violently snapping and instantly reforming.

The crushing weight didn’t pull me down. It violently pushed me outward. The unbearable, burning fever exploded out of my pores. The suffocating darkness instantly shattered into blinding, brilliant white light.

I didn’t hit the ground as a fragile, broken human.

My hands didn’t touch the mud. Massive, powerful paws slammed aggressively into the icy dirt.

My inner wolf violently roared, shattering the cage she had been trapped in for so long. She didn’t just emerge. She exploded into reality.

I didn’t pass out. I inhaled a massive, lung-filling breath of freezing air. My senses completely shifted. The world was suddenly incredibly sharp, incredibly loud, and incredibly clear. I could smell the distinct metallic tang of Nicholas’s blood perfectly. I could hear the panicked, heavy breathing of the rogues up ahead.

I stood tall.

I looked down at my massive, muscular legs.

They were covered in thick, pristine, glowing white fur. It was whiter than the snow around me. It practically shined in the dark, heavy shadows of the forest.

I turned my head. A nearby frozen puddle perfectly reflected my face in the dim moonlight.

I was a wolf.

I wasn’t just any wolf. I was massive. I was a terrifyingly beautiful, pure white wolf. And staring back at me from the icy reflection were two bright, glowing, piercing blue eyes.

A fierce, ancient power violently surged through my veins. There was no more pain. There was no more exhaustion. There was no more heaviness.

There was only pure, absolute lethality.

I let out a deafening, terrifying howl that aggressively shook the entire forest, and I lunged directly into the dark after my mate.
