Chapter 210: Chapter 210

Irina’s POV

I violently jerked my head forward. I followed the warrior’s shaking finger.

I squinted through the thick, freezing fog. My eyes watered from the biting wind, but I refused to blink. I stared down into the deep, rocky basin of the ravine.

Shadows moved in the mist.

They were massive, hulking silhouettes prowling through the dead trees. They didn’t march in formation like the royal army. They skulked. They dragged heavy weapons. They laughed, their cruel voices echoing off the jagged rocks.

Rogues.

Kossarov’s filthy mercenaries.

A fresh surge of pure adrenaline shot straight into my freezing veins. The heavy, agonizing void in my chest throbbed violently. These monsters had my mate. They took my Alpha.

"There!" Roman roared aggressively. His deep voice shattered the eerie silence. "Kill them all! Leave nothing alive!"

The royal warriors didn’t hesitate. They didn’t wait for another command.

A massive, terrifying howl ripped from Andrei’s throat. His eyes flashed a deadly, predatory yellow. The rest of the warriors joined in. The deafening sound shook the snow right off the pine branches.

They exploded forward.

Our surviving army charged down the rocky slope like a relentless avalanche of muscle and steel. They didn’t even bother shifting into their full wolf forms. They let their sharp claws violently tear through their tactical gloves. Their heavy fangs dropped. Pure, concentrated rage radiated from every single one of them.

I ran right behind them.

"Luna, stay back!" Andrei yelled over his shoulder.

I completely ignored him. I aggressively pushed my weak, exhausted body past its absolute breaking point.

My lungs burned like I was breathing actual fire. My twisted ankle screamed in pure agony with every single step. The freezing mud soaked directly through my jeans, freezing my skin. I didn’t care. I absolutely refused to stop. If I stopped running, the terrifying reality of the severed mate bond would completely crush me.

The clash was violently deafening.

The royal warriors slammed directly into the rogue mercenaries. Flesh ripped. Heavy bones snapped like dry twigs in the freezing wind.

A rogue lunged at Roman with a massive machete. Roman didn’t even flinch. He violently dodged the heavy blade, grabbed the rogue by the throat, and completely crushed his windpipe with one brutal squeeze. He aggressively threw the dead body aside and charged at the next one.

Andrei was a blur of lethal violence. He slammed a massive mercenary directly into a jagged boulder. He violently brought his heavy combat knife down, repeatedly stabbing the rogue until he completely stopped moving.

Blood aggressively sprayed across the white snow.

The sickening, metallic stench of fresh death instantly filled the freezing air. It aggressively mixed with the foul scent of the rogues.

I stumbled into the clearing. I gasped for air, holding my stomach protectively.

A rogue wolf spotted me. His dark eyes locked onto my fragile, human frame. He aggressively bared his yellow teeth and charged right at me.

I froze. I didn’t have my healing magic ready. I was completely defenseless.

Before the rogue could even take three steps, a royal warrior violently tackled him from the side. The warrior aggressively sank his heavy fangs directly into the rogue’s neck. He violently ripped the mercenary’s throat completely out. Thick, hot blood splashed directly onto my boots.

I didn’t scream. I didn’t look away.

A year ago, this level of absolute violence would have sent me into a dissociative panic. I would have curled into a tight ball and completely shut down.

But not tonight.

I stared at the bleeding, dying rogues. I wanted them to suffer. I wanted them to bleed. They took Nicholas from me. They completely shattered my world.

In less than five minutes, the brutal massacre was over.

The Kossarov mercenaries were completely annihilated. Dozens of heavy, mutilated bodies littered the freezing mud. The royal warriors stood over them, panting heavily. Blood violently dripped from their sharp claws and dark faces.

"Secure the area!" Roman commanded aggressively. He violently wiped a streak of rogue blood from his cheek.

Only a few rogues were left breathing. They lay completely broken in the bloody snow, gasping in absolute agony.

"Bring them here!" I screamed. My voice was raw and completely desperate. "Right now!"

Roman grabbed the closest rogue by the collar of his ruined jacket. He violently dragged the massive, bleeding man directly to my feet. The rogue coughed, aggressively spitting thick blood onto the frozen dirt.

"Where is he?" I demanded. I aggressively stepped forward. I looked directly down into the dying man’s eyes. "Where is the Alpha King?"

The rogue just stared at me. His heavy chest violently heaved. He opened his bloody mouth to speak, but only a wet, gurgling sound came out.

His eyes violently rolled back into his head.

His body went completely limp. He was dead.

"Damn it!" Roman roared violently. He aggressively kicked the dead rogue away.

Andrei dragged another mercenary over. This one was missing half his arm. He was violently trembling in the freezing mud, completely completely paralyzed by shock and blood loss.

"Talk!" Andrei growled aggressively. He violently pressed his heavy boot directly down onto the rogue’s bleeding shoulder. "Where did you take King Nicholas?!"

The rogue screamed in pure agony. His bloodshot eyes darted frantically between Andrei and me.

"I... I don’t..." the rogue choked out.

Before he could finish his sentence, a violent spasm completely wrecked his heavy body. He violently coughed up a massive amount of dark blood. His head slammed back against the rocks. He took one last, rattling breath and died instantly.

"No!" I shrieked aggressively.

Panic violently clawed at my raw throat. The dark void inside my chest throbbed with terrifying intensity. They were dying too fast. We were absolutely losing our only leads.

Roman aggressively dragged a third rogue forward. But the man was already gone. His neck was completely broken. Roman violently threw the corpse back into the mud with a frustrated curse.

There was only one left.

The absolute last surviving rogue was propped up against a jagged tree stump. His heavy tactical armor was completely shredded. A massive, fatal slash went straight across his chest. He was bleeding out rapidly, but his dark eyes were still open. They were still completely focused.

I didn’t wait for Roman or Andrei.

I aggressively pushed past my heavy guards. I violently dropped straight down onto my bruised knees in the freezing, bloody mud.

I grabbed the thick, bloody lapels of the rogue’s jacket. My small, pale hands violently shook as I dragged his heavy body slightly forward. The metallic stench of his blood was completely nauseating, but I completely ignored it.

"Look at me," I commanded violently.

The rogue slowly turned his head. His dark, cold eyes locked onto my pale, tear-stained face.

"Where is Nicholas?" I begged. My raw voice violently cracked. The absolute desperation entirely consumed me. "Where is my mate? Tell me where the Alpha is!"

The rogue stared at me for a long, agonizing second.

He looked at my frantic, terrified eyes. He felt my weak, trembling hands gripping his ruined clothes. He completely knew exactly how much absolute pain I was in.

Slowly, his cracked, bloody lips peeled back.

He gave a disgusting, twisted smile. It was full of sick, absolute satisfaction.

"He’s already dead," the rogue whispered wetly. "I’m sure of it."

Then his neck slumped, and he died.
