Chapter 520: The Awakening Of The Twelve
Kennedy spoke to Laz about the things she had encountered ever since taking over the business. Originally it was nothing more than a well organized cartel, but all that changed under her leadership and with the help of some of Laz’s friends. While most of what they were still doing was illegal, it was illegal in other ways. Compared to drugs and arms sales, anything having to do with infected involved a much higher risk. In fact, even in the government, they could care less about people pushing drugs on street corners or in schools, as long as everyone involved was human.
"And the worst part is we are treated like animals with almost no rights. Sure, it’s illegal to kidnap and imprison a suspected infected. But if the one imprisoned happens to be an actual infected, they just treat it like a bounty and the one doing the locking up get paid. As for those who weren’t and were still held against their will or kidnapped off the street to be brought to a court house to collect the bounty? They are just apologized to and sent home and no one has any right to complain either. Instead, they are told that maybe they shouldn’t be engaging in activities that could cause others to become suspicious. As for the number of awakened who have been raped? I couldn’t even begin to tell you about some of the stories we’ve heard and cases we found. You say this girl Jill was held as a prisoner for a few years? At least she kept all her limbs since she was weak. If a stronger one gets found, they cut off their arms and legs so that they can’t fight back. On one of the raids our team went on, they found three awakened who had been subjected to that. Even if we could somehow heal them, most of them would rather just be killed than forced to live like that. And that’s in this country. I won’t even tell you what some of the places south of the border that are owned by the cartel’s are like." Kennedy, the strong and steady leader of one of the world’s largest corporations, shivered as she was held close by Laz. Because only when she was close to him, could she let herself indulge in her own weakness, even if they hadn’t been together in so many years.
"So what happens when you find these places?" Laz asked, wondering.
"We kill everyone involved, without question. It’s the only way there can ever be justice for those who have suffered. And it’s not like the legal system gives a shit otherwise," Kennedy said in a matter of fact tone.
"You’ve done so much more than I have," Laz laughed, but only a little chuckle, something more akin to him mocking himself.
"You don’t even know what you’ve done, do you?" Kennedy asked him, moving his head to face hers.
"What you’ve done is show people just what we really are and given hope to those who think the only thing they can do once they’ve awoken is to die. I’m surprised you don’t know of your own fame among... well... everyone," Kennedy said, wondering if this man she hadn’t seen for years was fishing for compliments or just that ignorant.
"Well, I’ve heard some people mention me in my travels, but that’s about it. Generally speaking, I try to keep a low profile cause I know I’m wanted by some pretty bad people," Laz said, turning a little red with how closely she was glaring at him.
"You think that whole thing in New Orleans was quiet? Or Texas? I mean the videos of the clean up after words, the cell phone pictures of you and Lyssa’s group and the media posts that followed. Hell, the story that came out from that reporter you saved while running from the army after they invaded the compound was enough to get you international fame considering what happened. There are stories of you rescuing elves from another dimension and I don’t even want to think about what’s going to happen once your face is linked with the prison break event we just escaped from. I’m not sure you understand this but your name is known to almost every person in the country by now and there are reports about you overseas. The Demon, the immortal, that crazy mother fucker... god babe. You had no idea?" Kennedy said, shifting so that she was sitting up and laying on his chest instead of just his arm. She had brought her hands under her head and was leaning on his chest while looking at him.
"To think the weird, somewhat nerdy boy I ended up fucking back in New York became the worlds most wanted. I used to be told I had bad taste in guys.... never really understood what they meant until now," Kennedy said with a laugh as Laz grew even more embarrassed.
"Tell me about it. My parents still freak out every time they hear your name after me telling them about you all those years ago. I have to promise them I will never see you again before I hang up the phone every time I call my mom," Malene added, propping herself up having awoken.
"Same with my mom actually," Leona said, laughing.
"I don’t talk to my mom. But I wouldn’t listen to her anyway. She’s made much worse choices in men that I ever have," Ruby said, also awake.
"So not a single mom on my side, huh" Laz said, staring at the four girls who were now looking at him while laughing.
"I think Celes’ grandmother likes you, if we are being honest," Malene said, looking over at the still sleeping girl.
"But I’m not sure she is your type.... Or if you have anymore room to spare," Ruby said, poking him with a finger.
"I don’t go looking for.... I mean... I’m not..."
The four girls laughed, but then covered their own mouths as to not wake the others.
"You don’t even know what it means to be connected to you, do you?" Kennedy asked, pointing at the red moon tattoo on her body.
"Connected?" Laz said. He had seen the tattoo, but kind of didn’t ask. After all, all of the girls except Vivi and Lyssa had one, but Laz had the sneaking suspicion that Lyssa would now have one after last night.
Instead of answering him, the girls reached their hands out and touched one another’s hand. The red quarter moon on their bodies lit up with their touch of one another as they closed their eyes. Suddenly, Laz felt something deep within himself, something that resided in his core where the energy of his inner world was stored. High in the sky, distant, but clear, Laz felt like a massive red moon hung over the land, almost as though it were the sun illuminating the earth. Laz had never understood where the light came from and just felt it was one of those things that he would never understand. But now, it seemed like he was beginning to understand, if just a little.
While the girls had join hands, they also were resting against him as well. As if responding to their call, the bright, full red moon on his own chest lit up, causing a wave of energy to circulate throughout the room, waking all of the others.
Nora, Celes, Lyssa, and the four sisters all stirred from their sleep, only to find the red moon on their bodies glowing. Sitting up while in a slight daze, the seven of them ended up joining in the circle as Kennedy, Ruby, Malene and Leona made room for them.
Vivi was also stirred awake, but quickly assumed her wolf form as she walked in the center of the circle that had formed around Laz and laid on his chest. Even she seemed to be unaware of her actions.
Just as soon as they had gotten into this strange formation, the door to their room opened as a reddish blond haired girl walked in. The eyes of the girls surrounding Laz opened briefly, a red tint to each one of them as they starred at the intruder. But seeing her eyes red as well, they all smile warmly and Nora and Death held out their hands.
Quickly but still in a daze, Jill shed her clothing and joined the massive circle on the bed.
All at once, they began speaking in a slow, rhythmic tone, almost like a chant.
"Twelve have gathered, twelve have connected. Within the twelve, the circle is complete. Within the twelve, the cycle turns. The one has come. The great devourer of the heavens has descended. The blood of the asura shall awaken as the time of the return begins. So sayith the goddesses, so sayith the King!"
A surge surge shot through all of them, filling them with strength, breaking shackles they never knew existed.
Opening their eyes, they each bent down and bit Laz who was still laying there in awe, slightly unaware of what was happening, but feeling that this needed to happen.
Opening their mouths, they had all grown slight fangs which they then used to bite into Laz’s body, breaking through the almost steel like skin to get to the lifegiving blood below. Each one, except Vivi who still laid silently on top of him, swallowed one mouthful of his blood before suddenly sitting up straight.
Like a river dam that had reached it’s limit, each girl suddenly orgasmed, soaking the bed underneath themselves before falling over, unable to remain upright.
Within Laz’s world, the red moon pulsed twelve times like the chiming of a clock.
Before Laz’s brain could even process things, his vison went dark as he lay sprawled within the mass of naked flesh and the earthly sweet scent of the satisfied women.
