Chapter 327: What Happened?

Compared to Lyssa, Dean made it back to his room and after finding the door unlocked, snuck back into his bed. As he laid there, the morning already late, his head was full of questions.

’HOW THE FUCK DID THAT HAPPEN?’ Dean yelled to the universe.

After finding the door unlocked, he now confirmed that he had, in fact, gone to bed in his own room and somehow or another, must have slept walked he way into Lyssa’s bed.

’But even that is fucking crazy to think about. I could have ended up anywhere...’

As per the usual in Dean’s life, he had far more questions than answers.

Knock, knock.

"You in there buddy?" Mike’s voice came from the other side.

"Yeah."

"You feeling alright?"

"No. Guess last night really took it out of me. Say something to them when you go eat."

"Yeah. Sure. But you got to use the app now too." Mike reminded him before going to make coffee. That was how he knew that Dean wasn’t up yet as there was no coffee brewing. In the year that they had been living together, Mike had to admit this was the first time he had seen Dean not feeling well after a night of partying. Normally the guy was like a machine with his schedule no matter how crazy the previous night went.

’Guess even he is human,’ Mike thought while adding way too many scoops of coffee grounds.

’I forgot about that,’ Dean thought after Mike had reminded him. Dean didn’t like phones for some reason and therefore never had a cell. But since the club started using the app, he had no choice but to keep one just in case. Luckily he had left it sitting in his room after getting it and setting it up so after plugging it in and waiting for it to get some sort of a charge, he did the steps to call out for the evening.

Dean wasn’t really sick, but he didn’t exactly want to be walking around today in case Lyssa ended up stumbling upon him. It might have been a coward’s move, but Dean was ok with that. That didn’t rule out the possibility that Lyssa wouldn’t report him, but Dean got the feeling that wasn’t going to happen.

’A better question right now would be just how drunk was when I woke up? She looks completely different in bed the morning after than she did last night. The hair... and the breasts... how the hell did she make something so big look so small normally? And she even looked like she was glowing... The fuck did that happen? We didn’t even have sex....’

There was something Dean knew though, he couldn’t run from this forever. But right now, that was exactly his plan.

...

As the day went on, no one ever came looking for him. While Mike asked if he needed anything once, after hearing Dean reply no, he didn’t ask again. Instead, he left Dean to rest up and feel better on his own.

Normal guy behavior.

The truth of the matter was that Dean didn’t feel bad at all, he felt great. In fact, he felt better than he had in a long time so minus the reluctance to have to deal with the waking up in a 16 year old’s bed, Dean wasn’t hungover in the least.

While he did feel good though, he also felt empty. This was not a new feeling for Dean, he had felt empty many times ever since he woke up in the hospital. Empty of memories, empty of loved ones, even empty of emotions. But this time the feeling seemed to be settle around his abdomen. It wasn’t like hunger as he knew was that felt like. Instead, it felt like there was something that should have been there that wasn’t.

Dean had no way of explaining it.

After skipping breakfast and lunch, Dean decided he would at least make himself something to eat for dinner. While the dorm he shared with Mike wasn’t exactly stocked for full course meals, both guys had some ability when it came to food prep thanks to sometimes working in the kitchen.

Dean wasn’t feeling ambitious enough to actually cook though, so he settled on a sandwich, the ingredients for which they both always kept around as a primary quick food choice.

’Can’t go wrong with a sandwich,’ Dean thought flipping on the news and finally putting the thoughts of last night behind him.

"And now for some very alarming news. Local patrol groups have encountered an increase number of ’demon beasts’ in sparsely populated areas. While this isn’t surprising news, what is surprising is that these groups of different kinds of beasts seem to be gathering and then moving as a herd. Now it’s important to note that in the past, when groups of different beasts came together, there would always be very bloody fighting between the two species. Thanks to this and the efforts of our local hunters and patrol squads, the population of these beasts has always remained low. With this change in their behavior patterns, expects warn us that they may become a threat to low population areas before moving on to larger ones like towns and villages. And even more dangerous is that the longer these herds are able to form, the larger they will get which could spell disaster for densely populated or city types of areas."

’I feel like... this isn’t normal... what? Mike forget his keys again?’ Dean was thinking about what he was watching when he heard a knock on the door. The door itself had a card scan for quick entry and exit, but also a number pad. The simple fact was that Mike never bothered to learn the number lock and had forgotten his card a few times after not putting it back in his wallet before leaving. Considering the time of the day it was, Mike was probably coming home to change to get ready for his evening shift. Considering how loud the knocking was, Dean figured he was in a hurry.

Dean flipped off the TV before yelling he was coming then got up to get the door.

Dean barely got the door unlocked before the person outside pushed the door open, turned around and slammed it closed. That person then pushed Dean down to the floor and shut off the lights, leaving the room only illuminated by the large window in the living room area.

Once that was done, the person then looked out the window and closed the blinds, causing the room to become quite a bit darker than before. Not dark enough where you couldn’t see, but dark enough for someone to think no one was home.

"What the hell?

"Don’t what the hell me. I have questions and you’d better have some fucking answers or I swear to god you will spend the rest of your life locked up even if I have to lie through my teeth to make it happen."

Dean finally looked up from the floor to notice the long, black haired beauty standing above him while looking down at him. Her figure was the perfect blend of toned yet sexual while her voice made one wish she would never stop talking.

Despite this, Dean couldn’t help but try to slide away.

"Did I not make myself clear?" Lyssa said, her eyes showing various layers of emotions.

-Sigh...

’Guess this was going to happen,’ Dean thought, getting up and walking over to the couch before sitting back down while adopting a look that said, "Ask away."

"What happened? Last night I mean. What did you do to me?" Lyssa walked over and sat down on the single chair, facing Dean.

"I have no idea. I apparently was sleep walking and ended up in your room." Dean noticed a strange note to Lyssa’s voice that seemed like it was wrapping around his mind to compel him to answer truthfully, but it vanished as soon as he felt it. Not that it matter much to him, he wasn’t planning on lying in the first place.

"Seriously?" Lyssa shot back at him.

"Yeah. Honest. When I woke up in the morning in your bed and not in my own, I was just as freaked out as you were..."

"Then why did you look so guilty when I woke up and saw you?" Lyssa continued.

"Well. I woke up mostly naked in a room with a girl who is... was clearly not 18. Why the hell wouldn’t I panic? I was trying to get the fuck out of there before you came to to avoid any misunderstandings."

"Then why didn’t you stop to explain when you saw me wake up?"

"Cause you started screaming and were obviously not going to listen to what I had to say."

Lyssa couldn’t help but shake her head when she heard his reply. She was pissed that he was there, she was pissed that he ran, but even she had to admit that there was no way she was going to listen to him.

"Fine. Then can you tell me what happened to me?" Lyssa calmed herself and asked. That was the real question on her mind. She barely managed to slip away from the questions from her manager and her friends. Even more than that, they had wanted to call a doctor in but Lyssa refused, feeling that being examined closer would be a bad thing.

"I honestly don’t know..." Dean understood that the kind of change she underwent over a night of sleep wasn’t a normal thing, but he had no idea how it came about. A quick flash of memory washed over Dean though and he spoke without thinking.

"You’ve Awoken. Congratulations."

Lyssa turned to look at him but noticed his eyes seemed a bit foggy.

"I’ve what?"

"You what what?" Dean said, the clarity coming back to him.

"You said ’You’ve awoken, congratulations."

"Uh. No i didn’t. All I said what I don’t know." Dean looked at Lyssa in the eyes, wondering if she was alright since it seemed like she was hearing things.

For her part, Lyssa wanted to punch Dean, but she knew that with her newfound strength, it could cause a lot of damage to him. She had found out just how strong she was the hard way when she had tried to get dressed earlier.

She knew that Dean wasn’t lying either. She felt that within her, a voice was telling her something and she closed her eyes to listen.

-He doesn’t know. Follow his clue.-

’His clue? What clue? What he said?’ Lyssa asked herself, but the voice was no longer there. Lyssa decided she would google search his words when she got home. Interestingly, Lyssa couldn’t help but look closer at Dean who no longer seemed nervous about this situation.

"So what’s your story?" She asked, wanting to know more about this strange and attractive looking guy. She would have never been this bold in the past, but somehow she felt like this kind of boldness suited her now.

"I work here?" Dean said, not really getting what she was asking.

"I mean you’re actually story. You know, where your from, your family. Go to school? How did you get into the service industry?"

"Why exactly are you suddenly so interested in me? I mean... I’m a bit too old for you..." Dean was starting to wonder if this glam up came with new and unique tastes.

"Ok. First off, no. Second, I just want to hear your story, alright? You tell me that and I will leave you alone about sleeping in my bed like a stalker. Deal?" 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"Yeah, but you’re going to be disappointed," Dean said, grabbing his coffee cup and realizing that Mike had made coffee last. Dean couldn’t help but shake his head and put on a fresh pot after washing everything. While he did that, he spoke to Lyssa.

"I don’t remember anything that happened more than a year ago. I woke up in some sort of an accident and had lost my memory."

"What about family?"

"I checked my id and although it’s legit, they can’t find the records of my birth in this state. I also don’t have any family that’s come asking about me either."

"That’s..."

"That’s just life. So I recovered, got this job and here I am. I work every day that I can to help pay off that hospital bill since there was no info on any insurance I might have had."

Lyssa didn’t know what she was expecting, but this wasn’t it. This man sang with a passion that she appreciated, could play multiple instruments and always seemed to have a smile on his face, but the total extent of his life that he could remember is one year.

What’s more than that, Lyssa believed him without question. She understood he was speaking the truth.

Just as Dean was pouring the water into the maker, he felt a pair of hands clasp around his stomach as two soft mounds pressed into his back while the feeling of a warm breath hit his neck.

Lyssa had, for reasons beyond her control, decided to hug him tight.

Dean didn’t move, but one single tear made it’s way down his check.
