Chapter 325: Sleep Walking
The light’s went down on the stage that the guys had been playing at at came up right next to them where on the floor Dean sat behind a piano while Lyssa was sitting on a stool with the cello. Although the crowd didn’t know what to expect, they still cheered all the same, rowdy from drinks and expecting something great from Dean who had already shown his ability.
Many of them also recognized Lyssa even if she wasn’t the most popular person in her band.
If she was being honest with herself, Lyssa was probably the most plain one out of all the girls. Rain had her pretty face and athletic figure while Tia was a bad ass drum player with big breasts and a cute smile. There wasn’t anything that could even be said about Mila who had been featured in magazines as the face of ’Cherry Bomb" that hadn’t already been said. She was every teenage boys fantasy. Compared to them, Lyssa with her skinny figure, short black hair and almost no curves to speak of usually went unnoticed unless you knew her from her classical music career which was never mainstream.
That didn’t mean she was ugly, it just that the stars around her were so bright that she could only be considered dim by comparison. Even though it was frowned upon to judge a teen female group by their looks, that was just a normal part of fame.
Lyssa had never really stood out despite being the driving member of the band.
But now, with the overhead lights blaring down on her, Lyssa was finally in a spot light of her own. With a rowdy crowd of onlookers and more that one phone camera pointed her way, Lyssa actually felt shy for a moment until she looked over at Dean and saw him actually smiling back at her. Although it probably wasn’t his intention, Lyssa relaxed quite a bit when she saw that smile.
Dean then began to play the piano with a skillful touch that defied reason. After all, as far as he knew, he had never learned to play the piano.
Dean then began to sing, his powerful voice causing the crowd to become silent as Lyssa followed along, the sounds of her cello a haunting accompaniment to the piano.
Lie awake
And watching you run through my head
I’m alone again
But not for long my friend
We face another day
And distance has come and taken you far away again
But I’ll see you soon my friend
And then I’ll sing you my song
I can’t go home alone again
No, I can’t, my friend
Until then...
Eyes, I recognize
Taking me back
Familiar to me from some other time
Or maybe another life
Remember our times, and know who I am
The memory stays, until we can breathe as one again
And I’m coming back my friend
And then I’ll sing you my song
And I can’t go home alone again
No, I can’t go home all alone again
No, I can’t go home all alone again
No, I can’t, my friend
Until then...
And I can’t go home alone again
No, I can’t go home all alone again
No, I can’t go home all alone again
No, I can’t, my friend
Until then...
(Sully Erna ft. IRINA CHIRKOVA- Until Then)
Perhaps everyone would have their own thoughts while hearing that song. Dean liked the song the times he had heard it which lead to him wanting to try singing it. But as he sang the words and played the keys, thoughts invaded his mind, smiles he didn’t know on faces which had become blurred. The feeling of another’s touch, their smell, their voice. These things which were hidden in his mind started to come loose.
But not yet, not fully. There was a pain that came with these memories, things that caused pain, not just in his head, but in stomach. A pain like something very important had gone missing but that his body wanted very much to find.
Although it was very faint, so much so that Dean didn’t notice nor felt it, there was a slight cracking sound that could barely be heard, coming from the center of his body.
As for Lyssa, her experience was something else entirely. As Dean’s voice echoed across the room, something inside of Lyssa, the candle that had ignited only recently, started to burn brighter. Had someone been able to perceive the energy in the room, they would have noticed it was started to flow towards Lyssa at an increasing pace, filling up her body in the way that a heavy rain absorbs into a dried and cracked earth.
Lyssa didn’t notice the lighting of the candles flame, but she definitely felt the energy that was being absorbed into her body.
It felt like a mixture of pleasure and pain as her body filled to the brim. Once sated, the energy was no longer drawn in and instead returned to just passively floating in the air. As for Lyssa, her body started feeling warm which she ignored as being caused by the alcohol from earlier.
Once the song finished, cheers erupted from the crowd as Dean and Lyssa stood up and bowed. Lyssa then turned to look at Dean who in turn looked back at her.
Both of them smiled.
This was Dean’s last performance of the night as it was getting late and while Mike and the guys did a few more numbers, most of the guests had left by the end to either go back to their rooms or to head over to one of the other venues that happened late night at the club.
Lyssa and the girls ended up returning to their rooms excited and chatting the whole time as their manager was trying to decide to post the final video of Lyssa and Dean.
"Nah. We’ve already posted enough. No sense in flooding the feed," Lyssa advised to which her manager agreed.
After the girls had been dropped off to their suite and left to their own devices, Lyssa returned to her private room and got ready for bed after taking a shower. Just as she was laying down after throwing on some comfy wear to sleep in, she felt a headache and fever assault her at once, causing her to pass out.
None of the other girls even noticed, thinking she had just gone to bed.
...
Dean laid in his bed in his windowless room while the images continued to race around in his mind. Seeing as how he still couldn’t see the faces clearly, Dean just took a deep breath and settled his mind, causing the images to stop enough for him to settle down to sleep.
It was almost three in the morning when Dean opened his eyes, a golden red color pierced the darkness as Dean’s body oddly stood up. Although Dean normally slept naked, he had laid down in his boxers last night since he didn’t think he would fall asleep as quickly as he did. Now standing, Dean blankly looked around, not understanding what was happening. The color in his eyes died down but his normally blue eyes still remained a dark shade of gold. Had someone looked into his eyes at this moment, they would have looked vacant, like the light was on, but no one was home.
Dean looked around, then looked at a wall. Although the wall itself was empty, Dean’s gaze shot somewhere far into the distance, as though the wall wasn’t even there. He then made his way to the door, opened it and went out.
Walking from the dorms to the hotel took almost no time at all even though Dean’s stiff gait seemed like his legs didn’t want to move right. The interesting part about it was that Dean moved in an odd fashion, sometimes sliding close to a wall while at other times crossing from one side of the walk way to the other for no apparent reason. Sometimes he even avoided the paved areas altogether and made his way through the grass and foliage.
This continued on until Dean arrived at a door that he had never even seen before, the previously looked door of the stairway closing with a click as it relocked itself when it closed.
The entire way here, Dean never ran into a single person. And for those who somehow caught a glimpse of him, his figure would disappear in the blink of an eye, making everyone think they had seen some type of ghost. In fact, the next morning, the dozens of ghost sightings caused the club security staff to review the footage from the night before, only to find nothing.
But that had nothing to do with Dean since his strange sleepwalking allowed him to totally avoid those cameras.
The door in front of Dean was locked from the inside, yet Dean stood looking at it, his blank golden eyes staring at something beyond the door. Despite the time, Dean’s head moved back and forth as he stood there, not moving. Then almost an hour later, Dean reached forward and grabbed the handle before a slight click revealed that the electronic lock had popped into the open position.
...
Lyssa dreamed, a fever induced dream. The dream began at a large rock jutting out of a massive ocean. On the rock sat many, drop dead beautiful females who were laughing and giggling. They would play with each other, sometimes kicking or flicking water at one another, sometimes play fighting. But no matter what they were doing, they all looked both innocent and seductive at the same time. Besides the ocean surrounding the rock, there were also many remains of massive wooden boats that were barely visible underneath the rock, most having been swallowed by the ocean but some having lodged themselves into the side of the rock under the water line.
At the very top of this large rock sat the most beautiful of all the maidens, her hair a light blue while her green eyes shined like emeralds. Her hair draped down from her head and barely covered her large and perky breasts before dipping down further to hang free as she took the time to comb it out, inch by inch. Like all of the other maidens on the rock, she too was completely nude and yet nothing was visible as though the hair had a mind of it’s own in covering the sensitive parts.
Suddenly, the most beautiful maiden looked up and smile, a heart melting smile as she looked into the distance. Almost immediately after, all of the other girls raised their heads too and looked off into the distance.
They then began to sang, a haunting and captivating tune.
In almost no time at all, a massive three mast ship came into view, making it’s way straight towards the rock.
All the girls smiled again, but the one at the top of the rock seemed to look out again, but this time she was staring right at Lyssa who’s body hovered over the ocean, watching these scenes play out.
She then smile while nodding to Lyssa.
Afterwards, Lyssa watched as the ship came into view with dozens of sailors standing on the front o the boat, barely able to contain themselves at the scene laying before them. Many of them even hung over the rails while one or two of the braver ones just jumped into the sea and swam. And one by one, the maidens reached out for them, grasping the sailors who came willingly into their arms before playing their strange games with the men.
At the very top of the rock, where the captain had ended up, the beauty with the blue hair and green eyes spread her arms wide to him, took him into her embrace and proceeded to suck the life right out of him, even while the screams of his men floated up from below him.
Pretty soon, the only sound left on this vast ocean was the sound of the boat, taking on water, breaking apart and sinking to the bottom of the sea, joining all of the others that sat there as well.
Lyssa finally understood.
As she watched on, she saw the lives of the maidens who lived under the sea that enjoyed fishing for prey above the waves. As the lives of the girls pasted and centuries seemed to fly by in the blink of an eye, a time came where the newest generation of girls had never even seen a man and the strength of the girls had weaken substantially, their voices and beauty a shell of what had been. The elders spoke of the death of their race if nutrition couldn’t be found, yet only a sparse few could leave the sacred rock of their people for an extended period of time to figure out what had happened. Those that did, came back with stories of empty cities and strange, wild animals as big as whales that walked the shore, eagerly waiting for something to approach so they could catch it and eat it.
But none of them had ever seen a normal human no matter how many times or how far they looked.
Then one day, a strange man creature dropped from the sky, his body covered in black, tribal like tattoos, while his pale skin and red tinted white hair stood out in stark contrast even to the girls who possessed several shades of blue, black and blonde themselves.
And he offered them a place among the stars
