Chapter 138: The Difference Between

"You only have to bring the handkerchief I lent Ellie."

"The handkerchief you lent her?"

Ah! Night doesn’t know that the handkerchief he saw last time belongs to Aziel! And he said that it belongs to the Yamaguchi-gumi because of the insignia embroidery on it.

"I lent her it on our date before. Didn’t you see it? She said she left it at home." When did I say I left it at home!? Although I did leave it, I didn’t tell to this guy.

"I’ll find it, just... don’t hurt Noelle." Night’s voice turned soft after he pleaded like that. It was the first time I heard him plead.

"Of course, but I won’t promise you that she’ll still be in love with you after this."

Aziel hung up after saying that. "You may let her go now." The bodyguard behind me stopped covering my mouth. "Stop glaring at me and start eating." He said as if I should just ignore what he told Night.

"The fruit punch will get warm if you don’t drink it now." He said.

I sighed. ’I’m hoping for Night to come soon.’

After eating lunch, Aziel and I were forced to go back to his mansion as the rain starts pouring and the waves are getting stronger. When we arrived back, I immediately took a bath to clean myself.

When I got out of the bathroom, I saw how strong the rain outside was and it looked like a storm is coming. "What’s wrong with this place’s weather?" I shook my head as I tried to search for my belongings. Since Aziel only told Night about the handkerchief, he probably found the ring already.

"Then why is he still keeping me here!?"

"HAHAHAHAHA!"

I quickly turned around and saw Aziel’s happy face. "So you finally realized it?" He said.

"You already got what you want, why are you still keeping me here?"

He smiled as he walked towards me. "It’s because I want you to fall for me."

I scoffed. "Who would fall for their kidnapper?"

"Who wouldn’t fall for a kidnapper as handsome as me?"

I balled my fists. "Stop playing around. What more do you want from me?"

He sighed. "Don’t you believe me? I really did fall for you, and I want you to like me."

"I won’t. Now let me go."

Aziel continued moving towards me and I kept backing away until I felt something hard behind me and I finally reached the wall.

"I don’t think so. You might just be surprised because I lied to you. You’ll get over it."

I started feeling pissed off because of the way he was acting. "Stop it."

"Why? Don’t you like me?"

I took a deep breath to calm myself because if I don’t, all the stress I accumulated might come out. "I don’t. You already know that I like Night."

"Why do you like that murderer more than me?"

I felt something inside my stomach churning and it didn’t feel great. "Who are you to call him a murderer?" I know I should stop talking now that I’m starting to lose my cool.

"But he is a murder, isn’t he?"

"You said you don’t hate Night."

Aziel smiled, it was that smile that I couldn’t understand. "That’s right, but that doesn’t change that he already killed someone. He might have killed tons of people you and I don’t know about."

I couldn’t control myself anymore...

"Weren’t you the same? Deceiving people for your own good. You’re as bad as him, do you think your mother will be proud of you?"

I felt an immense pain on my left cheek after Aziel slapped me with full force. It caused me to blink lots of times as it felt like I’m about to lose consciousness with a simple slap.

"I-I didn’t mean to—"

I slapped his hand and moved away from him. "I know you’re just as bad as Night. Don’t even try to coat yourself with sparkles because deep inside, you’re filled with filth. The difference between you and Night is that he admits to his sins and is willing to change, while you cover them with smiles. You’re trying to forget that you’re not as perfect as you think you are."

I’m a failure for not being able to control my emotions. ’But that slap really hurts.’ I went inside the bathroom to see my reflection in the mirror, and I saw how red my cheek already was and the edge of my lips got torn causing it to bleed.

’This is bothersome.’ I sighed, even though I know that I’m half at fault, why does Aziel have to say such hurtful things about Night? Maybe it’s all because I’m stressed and I couldn’t get good sleep being here.

"I just want to go home."

The moment I muttered that the electricity went out and the bathroom was engulfed into pure darkness. Maybe it’s because of the storm outside, it’s really strong and if I go out there, I think I would get flown away by how intense the wind outside is.

"Ellie? Are you alright?" I heard Aziel knocking on the door. "I-I am so sorry for slapping you like that, I didn’t mean to."

I ignored him as I locked the door and sat on the floor. ’I’ll wait for the rain to stop, and after that, I’ll try swimming in the sea.’ If that’s the only way out of this place, I’ll swim back to the Yamaguchi household and meet Night again.

I hugged my knees and placed my chin on top of them. ’I miss Night.’

When I thought of that, I heard a loud noise outside causing me to get up from the floor. Is there something going on outside?

"What’s going on?" I heard Aziel’s loud voice making my forehead crease. "Where are the guards?"

I leaned on the door to eavesdrop on what was going on outside. Did the storm cause this mansion to fall over? Due to fear that I might get crushed by this huge mansion, I opened the door and saw nothing but darkness. All I could hear was the loud sound of the rain and I’m leaning on the wall to avoid tripping on something.

"Aziel? Where did you go?" I asked but there were no answers. ’Did he go out because of some trouble?’

I toddled towards the door, but I can’t see anything so I probably don’t know where the door is. ’It’s hard to see in this darkness.’ I sighed as I gave up searching for the door and just sat on the floor. If this mansion collapse, I’ll die and just haunt Aziel forever for killing me.

"Ellie!"

The door suddenly opened and a light came from outside and flashed at me making me squint my eyes. "Are you alright?"

"I will be if you stop pointing your flashlight right at my face."

"O-Oh, I’m sorry," Aziel said as he placed the flashlight on the table. "Did anyone get inside the room?" He asked as if agitated.

When he tried to touch me, I slapped his hand away. "There isn’t anyone else but you," I said as I looked away. "Why? Did something happen?"

He couldn’t answer, I guess something did happen.

"I’m sorry for slapping you." I ignored him while still sitting on the floor. "I lost control over myself after hearing you mention my mother. That’s why—" I stood up from the floor before I could hear him explaining things he didn’t have to explain.

"Stop explaining to me. I don’t need it, and it was my fault after all." Indeed, why did I say something like that to a violent person like him?

"I-It’s not Ellie’s fault."

"Stop calling me by that name."

Silence followed that. Despite the loud sound of the wind howling outside, this room was enveloped with silence and it was deafening.

"Now, would you explain what’s going on outside?" I stared at him as I sat on the bed. "Is the mansion going to collapse due to the storm?"

"Of course not! This mansion is sturdy!"

"Then what’s with the commotion?"

Aziel couldn’t answer which gave me a rough idea causing me to stand from the bed. "I-It can’t be..." In this intense storm... there’s no way he would be here.

Before I could even gather all my thoughts together, the glass window near the table shattered causing me to crouch and hide behind the bed.

’O-Oh my god. Is the storm going to destroy this room?’ That is what I thought as I tried to peek and look at what caused this destruction.

My body stiffened as I blinked lots of times. I gulped due to nervousness and I slowly stood up from the floor. Tears were threatening to fall out of my eyes as I smiled while looking at the figure that forcibly entered the glass window and shattered it into pieces.

His familiar black hair fluttered with the strong wind behind him, and those black eyes stared at me as if he yearns for me.

"I have come to take you back."

His words caused my emotions to overflow and I didn’t hesitate to run toward him.

"Ellie! You cannot go." I heard Aziel saying that causing me to stop running. "You’ll be in great danger if you stay with that man. You’ll get involved to his problems! It’s far better for you to stay here with me."

I turned to him and smiled despite the pain I felt on my cheek. "I am more willing to live through that danger as long as I could be with him."

After saying that, I faced Night and smiled. He looked at me dearly and grabbed my hand.

"Let’s go home."
