Chapter 104: 104-Kind only to him

Fairy Zarathia stepped out of the house, her mind breaking down the treatment method that he saw Sseraphis use on Aeltharion. It was brilliant to use poison and herbs at the same time to counter the attack on Aeltharion’s life.

She felt immensely proud of the descendants of the famed names that existed in her time. She was certain that the Noxveil ancestors would be impressed by their successor, who raises their name to great heights with his brilliance.

She had a feeling that Sseraphis was destined for greatness, and his potential was only at the starting line, and his name would be remembered for centuries to come.

As she walked out of the main gate, she bumped into a beast. "I’m sorry," she was quick to apologise since she was at fault for being lost in her thoughts and not watching where she was going.

"It’s fine," the beast responded.

Fairy Zarathia looked up, and her eyes locked onto bright and clear golden eyes. Her mismatched eyes sharpened, and immediately, her mind snapped to the present scene and stopped all thoughts about Sseraphis.

"Excuse me," Fior requested to pass.

Fairy Zarathia hesitated to make way for him to enter and before she could engage him in a conversation to find out why the male made the hairs on her skin straightened, a hand stretched out from behind the male and shoved her to the side.

Caught off guard, so stumbled out of their way. Fior, ever so polite, reached out and held her and stedied her.

He looked over his shoulder to the beast behind him and scolded, "Don’t you have manners, you devil?"

Ssirel glanced at Fior’s hands, holding Fairy Zarathia. They burnt with ugly intentions. Now, he felt bad for simply pushing her out of the way. He felt like he should’ve put in a lot more effort and broken a few of her bones in the process.

"I’m asking you!"

Ssirel stepped forward and pulled Fior’s hands back and threw Zarathia a nasty glare before ignoring her completely as he dragged Fior a few steps away from her.

"Who was there to teach me manners?" He asked like not having manners should be expected of him. "Unlike you dragons, snakes teach their children to be strong not to be polite," he added.

"Obviously," Fior found his actions questionable, but he couldn’t afford to engage with him anymore. The Ssirel he knew was bound to do whatever pleased him, and it was none negotiable. "Are you alright, miss?"

Before Fairy Zarathia could respond, Ssirel cut in. "I am perfectly fine. Thank you for asking."

"Who asked you?"

Fior’s features twisted uncomfortably. Having Ssirel attached to him was bad for his brand, and it would ruin his reputation. However, getting rid of the snake was harder than moving mountains.

"If not me, then who would you be talking to?" Ssirel asked as though he was the only other person present there.

"I’m asking the lady you just shoved back without a care. She is the one I’m worried about."

Ssirel finally remembered Fairy Zarathia. Instead of apologizing for his rude behaviour, apologizing, and making up for his mistake, he rudely eyed Fairy Zarathia from head to toe before rolling his eyes and glancing away.

He forcefully turned Fior around and dragged him inside. "Aren’t you worried about your boss. Focus and stop being sidelined by unimportant things," he said, raising his voice loud enough for Fairy Zarathia to hear him.

Fior sighed and let himself be led inside. He made a note to find fairy Zarathia later and apologize for Ssirel’s rudeness. The problem he found when making that plan is finding a chance away from Ssirel.

If he approached Fairy Zarathia with Ssirel next to him, the snake would find more ways to make life harder for her, and he didn’t wish to be a burden to her.

"You need to behave yourself," he scolded Ssirel.

Ssirel dragged him to the nearest source of water. Luckily, he found a wooden bucket of water outside the door.

Fior glanced at the water and then at the evil snake and wondered what new evil ideas the snake had up his sleeve.

Ssirel moved with ease and folded Fior’s sleeves before forcing the dragon to bend down before he dipped his hands into the bucket.

"Can you not make a habit of touching dirty things," Ssirel let out while scrubbing his hands with full focus.

Dirty things? Fior’s eyebrows knitted together. He hadn’t touched anything since they arrived on the surface. He ran his memory back, retracing his steps, and he couldn’t find the dirty thing he touched. His hands had only held fairy Zarathia when he tried to steady her after Ssirel pushed her.

His eyes widen with shock and disbelief. "When you say dirty things... do you mean her?" His amazement showed in his tone.

"What else?" Ssirel asked like it was obliviously implied he was talking about her when he made that remark. "If not for avoiding your scolding about ending life carelessly, I would’ve cut off her arms. How bold of her to be touched by you!"

Fior opened his mouth more than once to retort, but he ended up closing them back up again because he couldn’t find the words to answer the crazy snake.

"I mean, if she was going to fall, then why couldn’t she fall peacefully. Did she have to annoy me by being saved by you?"

Fior was speechless. "I am the one who chose to save her."

"And that is why I want to kill her even more!" Ssirel finished washing his hands and got up. Fior straightened his body and made a move to get away from the crazy snake before he went crazy too.

But Ssirel helped him back. He fetched a clean fabric from his space and wiped dry Fior’s hands. His movements were gentle, unlike the murderous words coming out of his mouth.

"Do me a favour and stop being so nice. It’s weirding me out," Ssirel requested and ushered him into the house.

Fior stared at his hands. A strange feeling circled his heart. Though a devil in heart and deeds, the snake seemed to be nice and kind only to him, and he didn’t know if that made him feel better or worse.

"Let’s just find Aeltharion and make sure he’s safe," he said, pushing the strange feeling away.

Unknown to them, Fairy Zarathia hasn’t walked out. She had followed them in and watched their interaction until they disappeared into the house.

"When two devils fall in love... is it a good or bad?" She asked, staring at the spot Fior and Ssirel had been.
