Chapter 309: Chapter 307: “An Eternal Moment...”

HUUUUMMMMMMM!!!!!

A deafening hum swept across the battlefield as Darius’ voice echoed.

"Rewind."

The earth trembled.

The countless fractures covering his body began retreating.

Blood flowed backwards.

Broken bones slipped back into place.

Torn flesh knitted in reverse.

Even the dust clinging to his body peeled away, returning to where it had once been.

Within a single breath, every trace of the beating he had suffered simply... ceased to exist.

Slowly, he stood up, cranking his neck as he looked at me.

"You’re going to regret that." His eyes no longer held any rage, only indifference.

"Hoho.. seems I was right. There is more than just what I received." I grinned.

"Ready?" I took a stance. And then...

Woooshhh!!!!

There was no explosive movement, my body simply appeared right in front of him, a punch already sailing toward his head,

"Temporal shell."

Bang!!!

My fist collided with an invisible barrier as the momentum behind my punch slowed to a crawl.

"Borrowed future." His aura spiked. Becoming more than twice of what it was before he clenched his fist. A torrential gale gathering around that punch as he let it loose.

BOOOOOOOMMMMMMM!!!!!

The punch connected clean with my midsection, sending me flying.

I righted myself, about to make another move.

"Repeat." His indifferent voice echoed once more and then,

BOOOM!!

BOOOM!!

BOOOM!!

I suffered consecutive strikes within the span of an instant.

Thud!

I landed on my knees. Breath heavy.

"Damn..." I looked up, he seemed winded, almost out of energy, yet before I could rejoice.

"Rewind." All trace of exhaustion and tiredness disappeared as time wound back, restoring his state.

"Heh! Now that’s just cheating." I smirked, forcing myself up.

"Hoo.. alright. Let’s try this again." Saying so, I moved, an axe kick aimed straight at his temple, but then.

"Chronostasis."

Time froze for a brief moment.

"Damn it.."

BANG!!!

I blinked and I was already on the floor. A foot planted firmly on my face.

Crreakkk!!

He ground his heel deeper.

"Where is that smart tongue of yours now?"

Bang!

"You claim I’m unworthy. But here you are, right beneath my feet."

Bang!

"Tell me. Am I unworthy now?"

Bang!

He emphasized the question with another stomp. All my attempts at escape being futile as it seemed whenever I moved, time was forced back to this particular moment.

"Tell me!!"

"You are."

He froze in shock.

"You are still not worthy."

He turned robotically. Raising his head.

His eyes trembled as they locked onto mine.

"Ho.. how."

"Heh!" I scoffed, my wings flapping gently as I crossed my arms.

"All that. And you couldn’t take out a simple clone? It wasn’t even a true clone, yet that’s all you’re worth? You’re an embarrassing example of a mythic talent wielder."

"Shut! Up!"

"Lucky for you. There are still ten more just like that one. All of them waiting to see just how strong you are. Get passed them, and I might consider giving you a swift death."

"DANTEEEEEE!!!!!"

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"

"Time skip."

The world glitched for half a second as he appeared right before me, fist already rocketing towards me.

"Not so fast." I moved, space folding as I shifted away, yet.

"Skip!"

Boooooommmmmm!!!!

The attack still landed. Sending my form flying.

"Repeat!"

The punch I suffered repeated itself multiple times, almost as if it had been placed on a loop.

He didn’t bother giving me time to switch positions.

"Stolen moment."

My next move, my next course of action... gone. For a brief moment, everything went blank. And then..

BOOOOOMMMMM!

Another punch, right to my face.

"Repeat."

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

It was an onslaught. I barely had any time to think, and then.

"Borrowed Future."

His aura spiked.

A phantom crescent blade appearing in his grasp as he cut through everything in his path.

"ᛞᛁᛖ"

Shiiing!!

The world split into two as my body was severed cleanly into two.

Yet before he could rejoice.

"Darius. You’re disappointing me. Is that all you have?"

"ROOOOOOOOARRRRRRRRR!!!!!"

A Draconic roar tore out of him as he didnt even bother replying. His body swiveled as he vanished from the spot.

The next moment, he was already assaulting another image of me.

BOOOOM!!!

The land quaked and shattered from the clash.

We were a blur of motion.

BANG!

"If you can’t even differentiate between my true self and a clone. What right do you have to stand before me?"

BANG!!

A furious punch shattered the speaking figure as his aura kept growing.

"Is that all?"

"Accelerate."

He moved at impossible speeds, appearing before me with another roar of anger.

"DANTEEEEEEE!!!!!!!"

Bang!

The clone shattered apart once more.

......

"Darius. Is. That. All?"

""ᛞᛁᛖ!!!!"

BOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!!

.....

.....

.....

"Haaa... Haaaa.... Haaa.." his breath came out heavy and labored.

Sweat poured like torrential rain from his body.

His aura slowly diminished until it became even weaker than what he had started with.

Step.

I could hear his teeth gritting audibly.

Step.

His fists clenched. Hard. Nails digging into his palms.

Step.

I stopped right before him.

"Is that all?"

I asked. Voice deadpan, as I looked down at his crouching form.

"Eight. That was all you could destroy. All that potential. All that talent. And all you could accomplish was defeating eight regular clones." The silence that had choked the area made my low voice echo.

The audience had gone deathly silent.

The Draken entourage’s jaws had all but hit the floor in shock.

I didn’t know if it were because they just realized their dragon son was a mythic holder, or because that same mythic holder was now crouched in defeat before another man, helpless and weak.

But I didn’t care for all of that.

"I heard that my father, a mythic holder, had reigned unchallenged in his era. An era that had the likes of Valen Wildeheart and aunt Raven, yet he stood as the uncontested pinnacle."

"The great devourer, also a mythic wielder, had almost conquered all of terra on his lonesome."

I looked down at the haggard figure breathing heavily.

"Yet you..."

BANG!

A kick to the jaw sent him flying backwards.

"You insult such a legacy."

Step!

I appeared before his sprawled form.

BANG!

Another devastating kick sent him rolling across the floor.

"Eight measly clones. That’s all you’re worth. Not true clones, eight pathetic regulars."

SLAM!

Craack!!

I stomped down hard. Shattering his arm.

"Ughhhh...." Credit to him, he refused to scream out in pain.

"You’re unworthy of the gifts terra gave to you. So let me do everyone a favor and end this."

Saying so, I lifted my foot, ready to stomp the life out of this bug, when...

"Heh.. hehe... Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha...." He began laughing wildly.

Blood and spittle flew out of his mouth as he trudged through the pain.

"Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha...." His laughter not ceasing once, he finally the stood.

His bloodshot eyes locked onto me as he gave a bloodied, crazed smile.

"Finally! I got you..."

At the sound of his voice, the world stilled, and then...

"DOMAIN...."

ZIIIIIINNNG!

The world flashed a blinding white, an enormous image of a golden clock materializing within the heavens as his command echoed like the decree of the heavens...

"An Eternal Moment...."

Tick. Tick. Tick.

Three clock ticks echoed across miles of land, reaching distances far removed from my perception range, before finally...

TOCK!

The clock... stopped.

And with it... THE WORLD...
