Chapter 2425: Chapter 2433: That’ll Do

After retrieving the luggage, Peter Gingery called Jane Sampson and informed her that he was already waiting for her at the exit.

"Coco has Grid picking her up, right? Harry, you come with me. We’ll take Peter’s car to near your home in the city district, and then you can take a cab to go back." Jane Sampson waved at Harry, and only after seeing Coco Edwards get into Grid’s car did Jane lead Harry to find Peter Gingery.

After the event ended, James Carter went straight home and didn’t come to the Capital Province. However, he did instruct Jane Sampson to send him a text message for updates once her plane landed, so the first thing Jane did after getting in the car was to send James a WhatsApp message.

"You came back at the wrong time. My brother should be quite busy these days. Do you want to return to the Black Residence or go back to the guard team?" Peter looked at Jane in the car backseat and asked, "If you go back to the guard team, you probably won’t see my brother for two days since he’s quite busy at the moment."

"Then I’ll go back to the Black Residence; I should also check in on Grandpa." Jane made the decision without thinking, "With James not around, staying at the guard team would be boring for me."

"I thought you’d decide that way," Peter shrugged, muttering, "Attracted by love and forgetting loyalty, you didn’t even think of accompanying me at the guard team, making me some good meals to improve my diet; I was so nice to you when we were young, even saving candies for you."

Jane, focused on work, didn’t hear Peter’s muttering.

Then, Peter relentlessly kept babbling all the way to the city district, even after Harry got out of the car and left.

"Peter, that’s enough! At most, I’ll make you something to eat when I get back, and when James comes back, I’ll bring it to the guard team for you, will that do?" Jane nearly picked up the car’s backrest to throw at Peter, who had been babbling all the way.

Is this the reincarnation of Tang Monk? How can he talk so much?

"Okay, okay, that’s fine. You should have said so earlier, why make me nag you till you agree?" Peter shamelessly sat there grinning.

Then suddenly, his tone became very serious as he called out to Jane.

"Do you remember those two children Rachel Miller adopted? My brother should have told you about them, right?" Peter asked.

"He did, so what? Did the people Grandpa arranged to investigate find anything?" Jane leaned forward, asking eagerly, "Do those two children have any connection to Grandpa Green?"

Peter didn’t answer immediately; he first sighed.

Only then did he nod, "There is indeed a connection."

"If Grandpa Green were still alive, those two children would call him great-grandfather. They’re directly descended as great-grandsons to Grandpa Green, who was from Green Clan Village in City Y. He married at 18 and became a father at 19, joined the army later, and some letters came back home a few years ago, but after that, there was no more news."

"So what Grandpa Green worried about back then really existed. If he had remarried in the past, he truly would have..." Jane thought of this and quickly asked, "What about Grandpa Green’s wife? Did she remarry later on?"

"No, they were childhood sweethearts who grew up together. She had already given Grandpa Green a son, so she stubbornly waited all her life. In the end, she never saw her husband return, and the old lady Green passed away even earlier than Grandpa Green," Peter shook his head, "It’s really quite lamentable."

In such times, for a woman, raising a child, even with the family’s help, living was a very tough task.

How many people, for the sake of life, ultimately still chose to remarry.
