Chapter 152: Chapter 152: Meeting Sary Again
Kenneth Yates took out a cigarette, and the owner immediately scrambled to light it for him. The swirling smoke made it difficult to see his expression.
"So, I’m supposed to thank you?" Kenneth Yates tossed the cigarette aside, stamping out the ember with his foot.
The waiter’s face was a mask of terror. ’Why did I have to get caught up in this mess? I just work here.’
"No, no." He waved his hands frantically, his head bowed, not daring to meet Kenneth Yates’s gaze.
Kenneth Yates stood up, brushed off his suit, and said nonchalantly, "I don’t want to see him again!" The owner quickly rose and hurried to his side, a fawning smile plastered on his face. "Yes, yes. This was our mistake. It won’t happen again!"
Kenneth Yates walked straight out of the private room, leaving behind the waiter’s boundless terror and the owner’s deep sigh.
「Airport」
When Dominic Thorne arrived at the airport, he was surprised to see Sary. Come to think of it, they hadn’t seen each other in a long time. Their relationship wasn’t particularly close; they were just friends.
"Mom, Dad, what are you two doing with Sary?" Dominic Thorne rushed over to them and took their luggage, pointedly avoiding looking at the other woman too much.
"Sary happened to be there on a business trip while we were traveling, so she came back with us. How can you ask about someone else the moment you see us? You’re going to make your mommy sad..." Rosalind Ayers pouted, pretending to be upset. But inwardly, she was overjoyed. Sary was their top choice for a daughter-in-law. That was why, after running into her, they had insisted she return with them. It was all just an attempt to set the two of them up.
"Mom, you’re not a kid anymore. Can you stop trying to act cute?"
However, that one sentence provoked Rosalind Ayers. She lifted her handbag and smacked Dominic Thorne soundly on the head. Wincing in pain, Dominic clutched his head, his expression twisting.
"Hmph. You were asking for it. Did you really think you could win against your mom?" Rosalind Ayers dusted off her hands and put her bag away. Beside them, Sary covered her mouth, stifling a laugh. ’I never would have thought there was someone Dominic Thorne was afraid of. And he’s actually kind of cute.’
Only then did Rosalind Ayers seem to remember someone else was there. She’d been too busy squabbling with her darling son.
"Sary, I’m so sorry you had to see that. Our son isn’t usually like this." Rosalind Ayers tugged on the corner of Dominic Thorne’s jacket, signaling for him to play along. But Dominic just stared blankly at his mother, who was inexplicably pulling on his clothes.
"Why are you pulling on me? I’m always like this..." Rosalind could have fainted from frustration. ’How could a smart woman like me give birth to such a blockheaded son? Are we destined to never see our halls filled with grandchildren?’
*Sigh...*
"Mrs. Ayers, I think it’s nice when a man has a sense of humor. People who are too stuffy are no fun, are they?" With her last words, Sary winked at Dominic Thorne and then broke into a happy laugh. Dominic’s face remained impassive, showing no intention of responding.
Only then did a smile spread across Rosalind Ayers’s face.
"Son, you take Sary out to eat. We’re exhausted and need to go home..." Rosalind Ayers decided it was best to make a quick exit and give them some time alone.
"Wait, Mom, didn’t you ask me to come pick you up?" Dominic Thorne caught Rosalind Ayers just as she was about to flee. ’I have a feeling this was all a setup.’
"Oh, I already called the butler to pick us up. Didn’t I tell you?" Rosalind Ayers laughed awkwardly. Taking advantage of Dominic Thorne’s momentary distraction, she broke free from his grasp and ran off.
