Chapter 142: Chapter 142: Can Only Turn to Him

Kenneth’s expression was blank. He coldly plucked Heart’s Desire from Asher’s hand and strode toward Dominic Thorne.

He hadn’t taken two steps before he suddenly glanced back. "I... do not love you!" He turned away mercilessly, without a trace of sentiment.

Asher was lucky, in a way. Kenneth had waited until after he was dead to say those words—words Asher would never hear.

Dominic placed the gun in his breast pocket and sprinted toward Kenneth, closing the distance in a few long strides. "Boss, your wound..." Dominic reached out to support Kenneth, a tense look on his face.

"I’m fine." Kenneth didn’t refuse his support. The two men slowly walked out of the villa, a place filled with evil and resentment that was destined to disappear this very night...

Kenneth stood outside for a long time. As he turned to leave, crimson flames engulfed the villa behind him, consuming the man inside and the countless resentments of a past life.

After Ronan Jenkins and Sean Murphy returned to their villa, they got Summer Lancaster settled into bed. A maid was looking after her, which saved them any awkwardness. When Kenneth walked in, Sean was so overwhelmed he burst into tears and threw his arms around him.

"Could you not make it worse?" Kenneth winced, pushing Sean away. Only then did Sean notice the shallow wound on Kenneth’s chest. It may have been shallow, but it had bled enough to soak his shirt red.

"Ah! Boss, come on, I’ll bandage that for you!" Sean pulled Kenneth upstairs, leaving only Ronan Jenkins and Dominic Thorne in the living room. Ronan sat on the sofa, his eyes cold as ice. "That man... what happened to him?"

Dominic plopped down right next to Ronan, giving him a sly look. "What do you think? I handled it personally. You really think I’d leave the body intact?"

Ronan shot Dominic a composed glance. ’Of course he’s the only one who could still make jokes at a time like this.’

"Ah, good. I was worried you might have brought him back. I was looking forward to torturing him a bit myself."

Dominic’s demeanor suddenly grew serious. "I don’t think that would have been an option. I don’t know the full story between him and the Boss, but the way the Boss looked at him... it was strange."

"Enough. He’s gone now. Let those secrets stay buried with him. That’s the best way to resolve this." Ronan stood up and headed straight upstairs, ignoring Dominic completely.

The night wore on, bleeding into the early hours of the morning. The sun seemed to be playing coy, hinting at its arrival but still hiding its light. If you don’t reveal your own brilliance, who will ever notice you?

Kenneth lay beside Summer Lancaster, her body still unnervingly cold. He stripped off his own clothes and held her tightly, but he couldn’t seem to transfer any of his warmth to her. His mind was a tangled mess, and sleep was a distant stranger.

Early the next morning, Kenneth washed and dressed Summer Lancaster, then headed to Ayers Group with Dominic. As for the My Queen plagiarism incident, with Asher dead, there wasn’t much left to discuss. He would leave it for Ronan Jenkins and Sean Murphy to handle. Right now, his biggest worry was Summer.

"Dominic, I recall you know someone who practices witchcraft." The lines around Kenneth’s eyes deepened, and his brows furrowed. ’This isn’t going to be simple. Some Witches can’t be hired with money alone; without the right connections, they won’t even see ordinary people.’

"I do know one person, but I can’t guarantee he’ll help us. There is... someone else I know, but I’m not sure you’d be willing to ask him for help." Dominic hesitated. ’Summer’s condition isn’t something an ordinary Wizard can fix. They need a Wizard with profound power, and at Ayers Group, there is only one person like that.’
