Chapter 622: Chapter 433 Failed Sneak Attack
After seeing off Gordon, Dong Tianyu didn’t care much about the potential flood that might come. The Undead Disaster hadn’t even ended yet, so there was no need to think about such distant matters. When the time came, one would just have to deal with it—block the soldiers with more soldiers, and halt the water with earth.
It wasn’t until after Gordon had left that Dong Tianyu remembered he had only pushed loose white liquor on him, the ’high-end’ drinks with lavish packaging, and forgot to mention it to Gordon.
But then he thought about it—it was actually right not to tell Gordon. After all, even though those types of liquor had high profits, their sales volume wasn’t that large. In reality, they might not be as profitable as the loose white liquor.
After sending Gordon off, Dong Tianyu suddenly thought of Franklin, the prince of Magic City. He wondered if he would come to buy ham as well.
However, Dong Tianyu soon realized, upon reflecting, that it wouldn’t be too difficult for Magic City to get a ship, since it was directly by the sea. So getting on the Ji Yun was not important to them.
Moreover, Dong Tianyu felt that large coastal families like Franklin’s didn’t have the same concerns as Yara’s and Gordon’s inland families. He estimated that these families likely had their own exclusive ships prepared.
During the flood, they would probably prefer to stay on their family’s ships rather than board an aircraft carrier.
After letting his thoughts wander for a while, Dong Tianyu dismissed the random notions from his mind. He straightened up his house a bit and then immediately got up and left.
The visits from Yara and Gordon had delayed Dong Tianyu’s original plan to explore outside the city. With some free time at his disposal now, he still planned to go out and take a look.
This time, however, Dong Tianyu didn’t choose to depart by Sword Control from the air; instead, he respectfully took the main road, driving out in his Black Car openly and honestly.
When Dong Tianyu drove to the vicinity of the Fifth Ring, he saw that the city wall which was still under construction a couple of days ago, had now been completed, reaching over fifty meters in height.
The height of this wall might not be sufficient to stop some of the larger foes, but it was very effective in intercepting the majority of small ancient creatures, the Bug Race, and most of the present Undead Creatures.
At the city gates, there were two lanes. Leaving didn’t require a check, but entering did, which resulted in a long line. Due to the recent chaos caused by the Undead within the city, there were strict checks for those entering the gates.
After leaving the city gate, Dong Tianyu entered the Plantation Area in the suburbs of Kyoto, but the fields that should have been lush with crops had first suffered devastation from the Bug Race, followed by the nightly appearances of the Undead Race, resulting in a scene of desolation now.
Seeing this bleak landscape, Dong Tianyu’s first thought was that the price of food would likely skyrocket for some time. Although he rarely went out, he often used Divine Sense to understand the living conditions of the ordinary people in Kyoto City.
When he noticed that grain bricks had quietly become the mainstream food again, Dong Tianyu knew that a food crisis might reappear.
However, being in Kyoto this time meant he wouldn’t have to worry about many things like he did when he was in Pengcheng. Now, he just needed to take care of himself. At Saxon County Camp, Dong Tianyu had already left enough food for his parents.
As Dong Tianyu moved farther from Kyoto City, the road previously solidified by the powers of the Awakeners also came to an end. To proceed, he could only follow the tracks pressed by previous vehicles.
The density of the wilderness forests wasn’t as thick as it was when giant trees burst from the ground. In the beginning, the dense foliage of giant trees could totally block out the sunlight from the sky, making the forest dark and gloomy.
But as time went on, perhaps because the trees grew too thickly, some didn’t get enough nutrients and gradually withered, turning into rotting wood.
Some of these logs were discovered and dragged away by survivors, others were broken or toppled by ancient creatures or just fell naturally. Soon, the once dense forest gradually began to thin out.
Although the density decreased substantially, the giant trees that remained grew even stronger. Trees that had once not been able to be circled by one person’s arms, had now grown to the point where it took two people to do so.
After making sure with his Divine Sense that there were no other people around, Dong Tianyu directly stored the Black Car in his Storage Space and still chose to travel by Sword Control.
The Black Car was originally remodeled to the standards of an RV, so even though it offered a spacious and comfortable interior, it was considerably larger than ordinary vehicles.
This size meant the Black Car had its limitations moving through the dense forest, which was why Dong Tianyu ultimately opted for traveling by Sword Control.
The reason he didn’t just leave by Sword Control from the start was to let people know that the items for trade in his home’s underground storage didn’t just appear out of nowhere; they needed a reasonable cover-up.
There were two purposes for Dong Tianyu’s trip to the wilderness. The first was to hunt ancient creatures, drive them back, and thus have a logical source for the ancient creature meat stored in his Storage Space.
The second was to hunt Undead Creatures. After his last experiment, Dong Tianyu realized that compared to high-grade ore reserves, the Undead Creatures living in the wilderness were actually the most cost-effective materials for upgrading his Cave.
