Chapter 592: Chapter 419 Tea
Night fell, and on the previously pristine snowy surface, bulges began to appear one after another, and then one skeleton after another crawled out from beneath the snow.
Unlike the initial skeletons, which needed time to acclimate after emerging, the skeletons now attacked their kin without hesitation as soon as they surfaced.
Thanks to the new materials, the military drones’ endurance had long been sufficient for all-night filming, so those at Command Headquarters intently watched the videos the entire night.
As dawn broke, the skeletons that were furiously fighting gradually receded back into the snow, and the chaotic mess left from the battle was covered up by the light snowfall, leaving no trace behind.
After witnessing the entire process, the people at Command Headquarters put down their notebooks but didn’t immediately start analysis and discussion, opting instead to return to their dormitories for rest. After all, after a night without sleep, they needed to recharge fully in order to have the energy to discuss countermeasures.
Watching the relentless light snow, Dong Tianyu decided not to wait for it to stop and prepared to go outside to see for himself today.
Although the disaster had befallen them for over a month and one could only feel the drop in temperature and the continuous light snow within the city, Dong Tianyu felt the disaster was not so simple. Hence, he decided to personally venture outside to ascertain the situation in the world beyond.
Just as Dong Tianyu was preparing to leave, Yara suddenly visited, interrupting his plan to go outside.
Inviting her in, Yara shook off the snow on her clothes before entering the house and then followed Dong Tianyu to the tea room.
Watching Dong Tianyu take tea leaves out of the tea caddy to make tea, Yara couldn’t help but sigh, "You’re living the good life. The tea you’re using is clearly fresh, unbrewed tea.
You have no idea. When I go elsewhere, they put only two or three tea leaves in a large pot of boiling water. They reuse those few tea leaves, drying them and using them over and over until they can’t steep any flavor from them—a flavor they’re still not necessarily willing to throw away."
Hearing Yara’s complaint, Dong Tianyu laughed before responding, "They like to drink tea, so they go through a lot of it and have to save where they can.
As for me, nobody drinks tea on a regular basis; it’s only when you or Ye Liuyun come over. I don’t even offer tea when he visits, we just drink sparkling water. With such infrequent tea drinking, a box of tea leaves can last almost half a year in the tea room."
Hearing Dong Tianyu say this, Yara nodded in agreement.
Seeing that Yara, upon hearing his explanation, didn’t state her purpose but instead quietly savored her tea, Dong Tianyu felt a bit helpless and directly asked about her visit, "It’s still snowing outside, how do you have the time to come find me?"
Yara’s face unconsciously showed a bitter smile upon hearing Dong Tianyu’s words, "I can’t afford to live as carefree as you do. I guess I was born to toil. Despite the never-ending snow, I’ve been constantly busy with work recently.
Although the disaster struck rather suddenly, the situation seems manageable for now, so even though the snowflakes are still falling, life must go on. That’s why I’m here to place an order with you for supplies."
Upon hearing this, Dong Tianyu didn’t agree, instead he smiled and declined, "Although the snow hasn’t stopped, flights from Kyoto to Pengcheng have been suspended due to the weather. So unless the weather improves and flights resume as normal, there’s nothing I can do if the goods aren’t coming in."
Yara had actually considered this scenario before coming, but due to urgent demands from clients, she had hoped for the best and still made the trip to try her luck.
They had made a fortune from their last deal, especially since Ye Liuyun hadn’t come to collect his share; Yara had made a killing.
However, she never anticipated that the disaster would directly interfere with normal flight operations, causing even a reduced daily shipment to be unsustainable in the long run.
Faced with this annoying weather and hearing Dong Tianyu’s explanation, Yara realized she had no other options. This visit was not just about clinging to a sliver of hope to try out her luck; it was also to get out and clear her mind.
After receiving Dong Tianyu’s clear refusal, the pressure in Yara’s heart somehow dissipated quite a bit.
Observing the changes in Yara’s expression across the table, Dong Tianyu maintained a calm facade, yet in his mind, he was impatiently urging her to leave soon, as he still wanted to go out and see the actual state of the wilderness.
While poetic phrases in the grandiose language of China were ceaselessly surfacing in Dong Tianyu’s thoughts, Yara finally spoke up, "Do you know what Ye Liuyun is busy with over at Saxon County Camp? I’ve been unable to contact him recently. Ever since you came back, I’ve tried to reach him multiple times but haven’t been able to get through. What happened to him?"
Confronted with Yara’s direct question, Dong Tianyu did not hold back and shared everything he knew.
Learning from Dong Tianyu that the flight Ye Liuyun was originally supposed to be on back home had been blown up, and it looked like the target was specifically Ye Liuyun, Yara was taken aback.
This was far from a simple act of anger turning violent; bombing an airplane wasn’t something someone could just impulsively do without extensive investigation, preparation, and coordination.
