Chapter 569: Chapter 408: First Encounter with the BOSS
Zachary thought he saw the crystals mentioned by Yara ahead, but the crystals that should have been buried in the soil were now half exposed on the surface,
Not only that, the crystals, which in Zachary’s memory were supposed to be very hard, were now shattered like eggshells, and the little snakes that had just ambushed Zachary had hatched from these crystals.
Seeing this, Zachary doubted whether Yara had really gone deep into the cave and tested the crystals.
Zachary took out the crystal he had obtained earlier from the Storage Space and observed it carefully in front of his eyes; the pale purple crystal was crystal clear, and there was no sign of snake eggs or embryos inside.
Although Zachary couldn’t spot anything unusual, having witnessed the little snakes crawling out of the crystals, he wouldn’t regard the Energy Crystals in his hand simply as a storage item for energy anymore.
While objects stored in the Storage Space maintain their state when they were first placed inside indefinitely, Zachary, after much hesitation, ultimately decided to send the Energy Crystal directly into the Cave to be decomposed.
Regardless of whether the Energy Crystal was a biological egg or some type of energy crystallization, after the Cave’s decomposition, it would turn into nourishment needed for the Cave’s upgrade, contributing to its advancement.
Zachary had not expected that the small energy crystallization he had just held could boost the upgrade progress by 0.001%.
Don’t think that this increase is insignificant; remember that when Zachary secretly hoarded several tons of energy ore, the upgrade progress for the Cave only went up by a single-digit percentage.
And the Energy Crystal that Zachary had just sent into the Cave for decomposition was merely as thick as a child’s arm; if he were to decompose several tons of Energy Crystals at once like the last time, Zachary estimated that the Cave would elevate at least one level instantly.
With this thought, Zachary didn’t care whether the Energy Crystals were those snakes’ eggs; his eyes sparkled as he looked at the crystals ahead, not yet shattered or hatched with little snakes.
’Since those little snakes hatch from the Energy Crystals, if decomposing unhatched Energy Crystals can advance the Cave’s upgrade progress, then the decomposed little snakes should also yield upgrade progress.’
With this thought, Zachary immediately turned around, his eyes gleaming as he looked at the passageway where he had come from, at the bodies of the little snakes he had cut in half.
He immediately picked up a snake corpse that was closest to him and sent it into the Cave for decomposition; the result was as Zachary had guessed — it too could boost a slight amount of the Cave’s upgrade progress.
However, compared to decomposing Energy Crystals, the upgrade progress from decomposing snake corpses was a bit less.
This might be because Zachary had only decomposed half of a snake corpse, or perhaps because the Spirit Energy in the little snakes dissipated after death, which would account for the reduced harvest from the Cave’s decomposition.
However, a little less is better than nothing, and all things considered, this trip here had not been in vain.
Just as Zachary was collecting the snake corpses like a hardworking little bee, perhaps due to the fast pace of his killing, the Energy Crystals that were half-buried in the ground gradually turned from pale purple to a light red, and as the Energy Crystals on the surface gradually turned to an opaque dark red.
’Bang~ Bang...’ The Energy Crystals near Zachary burst open, one after another, and the creatures that crawled out were not little snakes, but scorpion-like beings.
Being in the cave and having suffered from the ambush of the snakes, Zachary had been using his Divine Sense to observe his surroundings all this time. He had seen from start to finish as those Energy Crystals turned red and exploded, with scorpions emerging from the shattered crystals.
Watching the scorpions that hatched from the Energy Crystals immediately make a beeline for his location, an interesting idea suddenly occurred to Zachary; since he had thought of it, he definitely had to try it.
Therefore, Zachary opened the gateway to the Cave directly on the ground ahead, turning the space gate into a trap. Any creature that carelessly wandered into that area would fall into the specially designated zone in the Cave just like a beast falling into a pit.
As the scorpions approached, Zachary had already sent the nearby snake corpses into the Cave for decomposition. As the first scorpion fell through the spatial channel into the Cave, the rest of the scorpions, as if blind to their companion’s fate, continued to tread into the domain of the spatial channel.
Watching scorpion after scorpion walk willingly into the trap and into the Cave, Zachary immersed his consciousness into the Cave to see what would happen to the scorpions once inside.
What Zachary did not expect was that within moments of falling into the Cave, the scorpions that hatched from the Energy Crystals began to crystallize. Less than a minute later, the scorpions had all turned into Crystal Scorpions.
Just when Zachary thought it was over, those Crystal Scorpions were still capable of movement; one burrowed into the ground, while another climbed onto the previous one’s back. Then, miraculously, the two Crystal Scorpions fused together, recombining into an Energy Crystal.
