Chapter 497: Chapter 372: The Battle Has Not Yet Begun, But the Retreat Is Already Arranged

As these insects spread around the crack, countless Soldier Bugs surged out again, and the once-vanished Bug Mountain reappeared.
To everyone’s dismay, the radiation brought by the harbinger seemed to have no effect on those bugs.
Once the Bug Mountain had accumulated to a certain height, the crack was once again filled with a massive figure, and, in the absence of the harbinger’s interference, it was just as difficult to pass through the crack.
As it completely emerged from the crack and landed on Bug Mountain, the spot where it fell couldn’t bear its weight and began to collapse, causing a landslide that tumbled the creature down the mountain.
After it completely fell to the ground, the Flame Bug shook its head, stood up, and astonishingly began to dig a tunnel at lightning speed before burrowing into it.
Following the Flame Bug’s lead, many robust Soldier Bugs descended from the mountain and did not scatter, instead diving into the tunnel as well.
Since Kyoto had, for the first time, closed the aerial crack directly with the harbinger, the commander believed that it would be the same as before; though they didn’t let their guard down, they had only arranged the ground defenses in regular mode.
But who could have expected that the Bug Race would not play by the rules, having pre-emptively arranged air defense units, causing Kyoto to fail to react in time.
Although this crack was the Bug Race’s landing point closest to Kyoto, its actual location was still some distance from Kyoto, so even though a bug tide had formed beneath the crack, it would not affect Kyoto in the short term.
Under Yara’s hard acceleration, the two quickly arrived at the safe house she had mentioned.
Dong Tianyu could never have imagined that the safe house Yara spoke of was not within the core area of Kyoto but instead situated in the region of Kyoto’s South Fourth Ring.
As soon as the car entered this area, Dong Tianyu saw many guards setting up checkpoints; however, Yara didn’t follow the other vehicles to wait in line but turned into an industrial area on the side.
Upon entering the industrial zone, Yara drove straight into a steel-structured factory building.
As the vehicle approached the factory gates, the initially closed doors opened instantly.
"Wow, a fully automatic intelligent door at this time? Your family really is something!"
Hearing Dong Tianyu say this, Yara rolled her eyes at him and then responded, "What fully automatic intelligent door? It’s the guards we’ve arranged here. My car has a signal device; when driving this way, they get notified in advance and prepare to open the gates for me."
Hearing Yara’s explanation, Dong Tianyu chuckled, his face showing a look of realization.
The vehicle didn’t slow down after entering the factory building, instead, it headed for a corner of the factory. It was only when they got close that Dong Tianyu noticed there was an underground entrance that a vehicle could enter.
Seeing Dong Tianyu’s surprised face, Yara laughingly explained, "Did you notice the checkpoint we passed earlier? Our destination is actually inside that checkpoint.
Normally, if there’s no traffic jam, we would directly go through the ground checkpoint into the park, but if there’s a traffic jam, this is the underground tunnel my family specially constructed, so we can enter the park unimpeded regardless of any congestion above ground."
Hearing Yara’s explanation, Dong Tianyu, puzzled, directly asked, "The safe house is inside the park? And is it really necessary to make an underground passage just to enter the park a bit earlier?"
Responding to Dong Tianyu’s confusion, Yara didn’t leave him in suspense, explaining, "Behind the checkpoint is a park originally connected to a pier, one of only two in Kyoto with an inner river dock that goes straight to the sea.
Because of the natural disaster, many families feared problems with the land routes, so they set up safe houses here in case of emergency, allowing them to take boats straight to the inner sea from here."
Hearing Yara’s explanation, Dong Tianyu gave a thumbs up in admiration, "Your family is really well-prepared, even an escape route is in place."
Instead of being modest, Yara continued, "Of course, but it’s not just my family that thought of this. Many others did too, which is why traffic jams even happen at the checkpoints above."
As they chatted and drove, they reached the end of the underground passage. When the vehicle left the tunnel, Dong Tianyu curiously looked around; they were still inside a factory building.
