Chapter 162: This Is Not Possible?!
Chapter 162
"Alex...?" Nyx’s eyes widened to the limit in pure shock the moment she saw him. She raised her voice to scream at him. "What are you doing here?! Get out of here right now! That is an order!"
Alex completely disregarded her command, not even sparing a glance toward her direction as he continued to walk forward with slow unhurried steps. His hands were tucked into his pockets, and his cold gaze was locked entirely on the three piece of shits standing in the center of the yard.
The reason he seemed this calm and composed was because he was actually trying to hide the boiling anger inside him, lest he rushes in hot headed and make a mistake, while fighting a man who had single handedly handled two newly Ascendant Realm Awakened all by himself, even though he was an Ascendant Realm Awakened himself.
For the old man to be capable of doing something as insane as that, meant just one thing; the old geezer’s ability was on a whole other level. So dealing with such a person left no room for any mistake whatsoever. That’s why he had to keep his anger in check and stay clear headed.
Still, every time his eyes subtly landed on Nyx’s pale face, and that of Doris and Jade, the urge to rip the old bastard to pieces for even daring to use his Aura to pressure his women and their people, almost threatened to overwhelm his reason.
Renzo’s face instantly twisted into a mask of pure hatred the moment he recognized the newcomer and heard the woman he was so obsessed with, telling the trash to run away!
He leaned in closer to his father, and whispered in a tone dripping with venom, and hatred.
"Father... That’s him! That is Alex Walker! The same bastard who hurt me and mocked the Kades family name!"
Chairman Kade adjusted his gold rimmed glasses, with his cold eyes narrowing to dangerous slits as he stared down the young handsome man.
"Boy... so you’re the arrogant little rat who dared to hurt my son badly, killed my precious Vanguard Realm guard, and severely injured one of my Early Realm Awakened subordinate? Wow. You certainly have a lot of courage to show your face here. But I must thank you for coming. It’s made my work easy."
Alex stopped walking, standing roughly a dozen meter away from them. He tilted his head slightly, as a cold, mocking expression settled over his face.
"As anyone ever told you, you talk way too much for your age, old man? Hmmm... To be frank with you, I might have actually spared your pathetic family if you had just stayed in your little mansion or whatever and done nothing."
"But for coming here, trashing the place up, and causing my wom... My people to suffer. You are a dead man. You, your spoiled brat of a son, and every single trashy subordinate you brought with you today."
Renzo first looked at him with disbelief, but then a second later he burst into a mocking laugh, wiping a tear of genuine amusement from the corner of his eyes.
"Oh really? Don’t make me laugh, walker. What are you even talking about? Or is it that you’re now completely insane?"
"For a second, please just take a good look around you. Do you honestly think you have the ability to be making such empty and pathetic boasts in front of us? Oh wake up from whatever dream you’re in, back to reality."
Alex decided it was best not to look at the rich insect yapping stupid words. Instead he simply raised a hand, making a soft shushing motion with his index finger.
"Shush, boy. Hasn’t your wealthy daddy over here, ever taught you not to interrupt when the elders are talking?"
He then nonchalantly waved his hand as if chasing a dog.
"Now go find a place to sit, while the elders talk, and oh, on your way, make sure to shut the hell up, if not I will make you shut up permanently."
Renzo’s face immediately turned a deep, furious shade of red, and his chest heaved with rage as different kinds of murderous thoughts began appearing in his mind. He was almost tempted to take out his weapon and end Alex’s life.
But he forced himself to control his temper, and stepped back to let the real powerhouse teach this lowly commoner a lesson he would never forget. That’s if he even gets to leave here alive.
The elderly old monster, Jeff, looked at Alex with a perfectly calm and unbothered expression, with his hands tucked into the wide sleeve of his robes.
"Child, in all my two hundred plus years of living in this mundane world, I have never met a single person quite like you, who is so incredibly willing to actively court his own death. But since you really want to die so badly, then who am I not to grant such a tragic request?"
Alex gave a slow, confident smile the moment he heard the man’s brazen words, with his green eyes flashing with a hidden, dangerous amusement.
"Old man. No. Since you’re basically two hundred plus years old, I think it’s better to call you an old fossil. Anyways, you keep on saying that I am the one who is going to die today. But have you actually stopped to consider that maybe... Just maybe, you’re the one who is going to end up buried in this dirt before the night is over?"
"Alex, no! Stop provoking him?" Doris yelled frantically from the side, and tried to warn him. "You are no match for him right now! Even Jade and I, who surprisingly managed to break through to the Ascendant Realm today by some weird stroke of luck, couldn’t even handle the old monster! His ability is very strange and formidable..."
"I don’t really know the mechanics but when he activated it, it caused both Jade and I to feel cut off from our primordial essence. Without our primordial essence we can’t use our ability! So just get away as far as possible!"
The Old monster, Jefferson, let out a proud grin upon hearing Doris’s panicked words. He raised his chin like a proud peacock, looking down at Alex with a condescending and arrogant voice.
"Child, let me tell you a little secret of mine. It doesn’t matter how powerful or talented an Awakened person thinks they are. As long as they are in the same realm as me, or lower, I alone am the strongest."
"My unique ability has ensured that no one in the same realm as me can ever best me. So what chance does a pathetic little brat like you have, especially one who is still stuck in the miserable Vanguard Realm meant for weaklings?"
Alex’s brows twitched slightly in surprise. So the old fossil had the ability to stop Awakened in the same realm as him or lower from using their special abilities, by forcibly severing their connection to primordial essence.
The ability was really the mother of all ability. Ah! If only the old man was a woman, he would have been able to copy that ability. Nonetheless, there was no use mourning over that. Now was going to be a life and death battle so he became even more guarded around the old fossil.
Old monster Jefferson sighed loudly, shaking his head in what looked like mock pity before his entire body suddenly vanished leaving an after image in his wake and the deafening sound of a sonic boom, signifying he had broken through the sound barrier.
In a fraction of a millisecond, he appeared directly in front of Alex, his wrinkled fist filled with formidable power as he launched a lethal punch straight toward Alex’s temple, aiming to end the meaningless fight as quickly as possible with one attack.
Instead of meeting the devastating attack with another punch of his own, which would definitely overpower the old fossil’s, Alex remained perfectly calm.
Engaging a clash of fist would result in a shockwave from two massive powers colliding, and blasting outward, which would potentially destroy everything around them. And God knows he couldn’t let that happen when his women were still here.
So moving with a more faster speed than the old fossil’s own, Alex casually extended his right arm. His open palm intercepted the incoming fist, catching and immediately neutralizing the formidable power from the old fossil’s fist. After all, he was still kind of a monster in terms of physical prowess compared to that of other Ascendant Realm experts.
The unexpected attack didn’t work. Alex’s feet didn’t even slide back an inch into the dirt. He absorbed the entire momentum of the powerful punch with nothing but his bare hands, and then closed his grip around the old man’s fist.
The entire area instantly fell into a state of dead silence. After all, who wouldn’t be?
Every single person present, including Jefferson himself, froze in shock. Renzo was the most affected of them all. His eyes practically almost popped out of its sockets and his body trembled as he began to stutter in denial.
"This is not possible! How... how can a trashy nobody like you suddenly catch that punch?! You were just a Vanguard Realm Awakened some days ago so why are you now an Ascendant Realm Awakened?! No... This isn’t real! Y-yes it has to be some sort of prank!"
Chairman Kade’s eyes narrowed behind his glasses as he muttered under his breath.
"So... Nyx really hid her cards well. To think an insignificant underworld ruler like her actually had three Ascendant Realm powerhouses under her thumb this entire time." He then let out a cold, menacing chuckle, his confidence returning. "But too bad, not one of them can even dream of beating senior Jefferson over here."
Nyx, who was now standing, looked at Alex’s back with a profound sense of shock and bewilderment, but then her gaze turned suspicious as she turned to look at Jade and Doris before settling right back on Alex.
Jade and Doris were equally stunned but Jade managed to recover a bit faster than Doris. She too looked at Alex with suspicion in her blue eyes.
Old monster Jeff stared at his trapped fist, his eyes wide with genuine surprise as he looked at the young man before him.
"You and the girls I fought earlier are really prodigies for breaking through to Ascendant Realm before even reaching thirty. If I remember correctly it took me fifty good years to break through after I became a vanguard Realm Awakened."
"The reports said that when you fought and killed Liu Kang, you were only a Vanguard Realm Awakened. And now, you’ve already leaped across the boundary into the Ascendant Realm."
"But it really is a shame. You are still destined to die by my hands today, even if you’ve somehow reached the same rank as me."
Suddenly, the old man’s chest began to glow with a dark, deeply mysterious and suffocating purple light that seemed to swallow the very air around him.
