"Shh! Be quiet. Someone is coming."
Almost immediately, Jade froze in her place, her blue eyes widening as she realized the danger. If anyone walked in right now and saw them like this, her reputation would be completely destroyed!
Alex quickly pulled back his hand away from her mouth and said.
"Go get dressed, fast!
Jade gave a small nod and moved instantly, scrambling across the floor to grab her clothes that were scattered not too far away from her.
Then after that, she threw on her black tank top and cargo pants with lightning speed.
Alex was just as fast, pulling his pants back up and throwing his shirt over his head in a matter of seconds.
He then remembered about the mess and wiped down the wet spot on the ground with a nearby towel, before tossing it to a corner just as the sound of footsteps grew nearer to the door.
The person would arrive any second from now.
Alex immediately looked toward Jade.
"I need you to fight me."
Jade blinked, looking surprised by his request.
"... What?"
"Just trust me and do it now."
Understanding flashed through her eyes after she understood what he was planning to do. Jade nodded her head quickly. And just as the door handle began to turn, she threw a punch forward.
Alex quickly moved his upper body backward, dodging the strike just in time to make it look like it was a close call.
The door swung open, and standing in the doorway was a petite woman, with the legendary baby face and mature body. She was wearing a light pink training outfit, with her blonde hair tied back, and a small water bottle in her hand.
Thank God it was Doris. If it had been Nyx, he would have been dead.
Back to Doris, it looked like she had obviously come down to get an early morning workout in, but she stopped in her tracks when she saw the two of them in the middle of the room.
Doris looked at them both with curiosity written all over her baby face.
"Have you guys been training all night? Doris asked curiously, looking between them. "It’s literally just four in the morning." She continued while checking her watch.
Jade calmly turned toward Doris and gave a stiff nod of her head.
"Yes. I couldn’t sleep so I wanted to train and ended up meeting Alex here."
Doris walked further into the room, letting the door close behind her. She looked at the fist sized cracks on the walls and then turned her gaze toward Alex.
Her large eyes then brightened slightly.
"Since you guys were already sparring, how about I join in too?" Doris suggested, as a small smile appeared on her baby face.
Alex shrugged.
"Sure."
Doris pointed directly at him and continued.
"But I want to fight you. I want to see how much I can handle against a Vanguard Realm Awakened."
Alex blinked, caught off guard by her sudden request.
"Uhh. Are you really sure about that, Doris? Because last time I checked you’re still an Early Realm Awakened. The difference in strength is pretty obvious, even if I hold back you could still get injured."
Doris didn’t say anything. Instead, she just rushed forward with an explosive speed that caught him off guard.
Before Alex could even finish speaking his sentence, she crossed the distance between them and threw a hard punch straight toward his chest.
Alex’s eyes widened at her sudden speed. He did not have time to dodge completely, so he quickly raised his arm across his chest to block the incoming strike.
The heavy force of her fist hitting his arm resounded through the room, and caused a large gust of wind to blow outward. The impact even actually pushed Alex a full step back across the floor before he stabilized his footing.
He looked at Doris in surprise, his arm feeling a slight numbness from the unexpected blow.
Doris meanwhile, stood her ground while lowering her fist as she looked at his shocked expression. A smug look briefly appeared on face before it vanished just as fast as it came.
"Now, are you sure about it, now?" Doris asked, raising an eyebrow at him.
Alex blinked. Then he blinked again, before the realization finally struck.
"Wait... that speed... and strength." He said, pointing at her. "No way. Don’t tell me you broke through? That means you’re no longer in Early Realm anymore. You’re now a Vanguard Realm Awakened."
Doris’s smile grew a little wider because of his completely shocked face, before she quickly suppressed it and returned to her usual calm look.
"Yes. I broke through the exact day you and Nyx left for South Korea. I’ve been trying to stabilize my power ever since."
Alex let out a low whistle, genuinely impressed by her progress. At least now the number of Vanguard Realm Awakened under Nyx had increased.
And besides he was also happy that Doris had grown stronger. He even wondered how much stronger her ability should be in her new state.
"Wow. That’s actually really good. Congratulations. But don’t get too cocky alright? Just because you’re now in the same Realm doesn’t mean you can catch me off guard twice."
Doris did not answer his teasing remark. She just smirked, took a step back, and shifted her body into a proper fighting stance, ready to begin their spar.
Alex also raised his hands, preparing to engage with her fully now that he knew she could handle half his strength or maybe even more.
But just as they were about to clash, Doris suddenly stopped. Her stance broke, and her eyes widened in surprise as she looked past Alex’s shoulder, staring straight at Jade who was standing a few meters behind them.
Alex frowned and turned around to see what had caught her attention.
Jade was standing completely still, with her ocean blue eyes suddenly sparkling with a faint but at the same time intense flickers of bluish electricity.
A small gust of wind began to blow out from her body, kicking up the dust around her and causing her long dark brown hair to flow wildly around her face.
Then suddenly a familiar tiny figure appeared beside him. The chibi system floated in midair while staring at Jade. She looked completely baffled.
[Ah... so she’s breaking through right now?]
Alex frowned.
Breaking through? Then why did the little gremlin sound confused?
The chibi scratched her head and continued.
[But I thought it was supposed to take an hour or two before she would officially break through]
Alex immediately turned towards her.
