Chapter 314: The Hand That Falls From the Sky

BOOOOOOM!

The sound didn’t just echo, it crushed everything around it like the world itself had been struck by something far beyond its limits, a deep and violent clash that tore through the air and shook the entire space until even the strange ocean-like sky above split apart like it had been ripped open by brute force.

The moment that gigantic tentacle slammed down, the entire luminous forest that had once looked so calm and unreal was wiped clean in an instant, the glowing corals shattered, the ground torn apart, the soft blue light replaced with darkness and chaos as massive waves formed from the sky itself and came crashing down like an endless flood that wanted to swallow everything in existence.

There was no time to think, no time to react, the impact alone was enough to send shockwaves ripping across the land, and Sage and the others were thrown back like leaves caught in a storm, their bodies lifted off the ground and carried away by the overwhelming force of water that shouldn’t even have been there in the first place.

The waves didn’t behave like normal water, they felt heavier, denser, like liquid mixed with something far more dangerous, and as they surged forward, they swallowed everything in their path, carrying the group along without giving them even the slightest chance to resist.

The pressure alone was enough to crush weaker bodies, and the speed at which it moved made it impossible to regain footing, the world spinning as Sage was dragged through the flood, his body slammed against unseen debris as the roar of water filled his ears.

His eyes widened as he tried to focus through the chaos, his heart pounding violently in his chest as the realization of what had just happened finally hit him.

"Holy shit! What the hell is that!" Sage shouted, his voice barely audible over the roaring waves as he struggled to keep himself steady, his body twisting as the current pulled him further away.

"Petty uncle Sage!"

The moment that small voice reached his ears, everything else faded.

Sage’s expression changed instantly, the shock replaced with sharp focus as he turned his head toward the sound, his eyes searching desperately through the chaos until he found her.

Mina was being dragged by the waves not too far from him, her small hands flapping as she struggled to stay above the water, her face pale, her eyes wide with fear as the current threatened to pull her under at any moment.

There was no hesitation.Sage clenched his teeth, his body tensing as he forced his legs together, and in the next instant, two small wind magic circles appeared beneath his boots, glowing faintly even through the rushing water.

The circles spun rapidly, and a burst of compressed wind shot out, pushing him forward at incredible speed as he cut through the current like a blade. The force of the spell pushed against the waves, giving him just enough control to move, his body shooting toward Mina in a straight line as the water tried to drag him back.

He reached her in a blink. His arm shot out, grabbing her tightly before she could be pulled under, and without wasting a second, he reinforced the wind magic beneath his feet, the circles growing brighter as he pushed harder, forcing himself against the current as he turned his body, redirecting both of them toward a piece of higher ground that barely remained above the flood.

His movements were rough, his control strained as the waves crashed around him again and again, but he did not let go, not even for a moment, his grip firm as he carried her through the chaos.

"Hold on!" he shouted, though he wasn’t sure if she could even hear him.

One by one, he began pulling the others along as well, using the same method, grabbing whoever he could reach, dragging them out of the waves with brute force and magic, his body screaming from the effort as the current fought him every step of the way.

Gregor managed to grab onto him at one point, dragging another Adventurer along, while Vanthrice moved with her own speed, helping others reach the same high ground that Sage was aiming for. It wasn’t smooth, it wasn’t clean, but it worked.

After what felt like forever, they finally made it. Sage pushed himself up onto the higher ground, collapsing forward as he pulled Mina with him, his body hitting the surface hard as the waves continued to rage below.

One after another, the others followed, some crawling, some barely managing to hold on, until they were all gathered on that small piece of land that had somehow remained untouched.

For a moment, no one spoke. All of them lay there, soaked from head to toe, their bodies trembling as they tried to catch their breath, their chests rising and falling rapidly as the sound of the waves slowly faded behind them.

Their faces were pale, their expressions filled with shock and lingering fear as they struggled to process what had just happened.

Some of them coughed violently, water and blood spilling from their mouths as they tried to breathe properly again, their bodies still shaking from the force they had just endured.

Sage himself wasn’t any better. He felt like his insides had been turned upside down, his blood flowing in the wrong direction as his chest tightened painfully, making it hard to breathe.

Every inhale felt heavy, like something was pressing down on his lungs, and for a brief moment, he thought he might actually pass out. But he forced himself to stay awake, pushing through the pain as he lifted his head and looked around.

He counted them, one... two... three... They were all there. Injured, soaked, barely holding themselves together, but alive.

A small, tired smile appeared at the corner of Sage’s lips as relief washed over him, his shoulders relaxing slightly as he let out a breath he didn’t realize he had been holding.

But that relief didn’t last.

Because the next moment, everything changed. The light around them dimmed.

The faint glow that had remained from the luminous forest flickered and died, replaced by a darkness that spread unnaturally fast, as if something had covered the entire space in a single motion.

The air grew heavy, far heavier than before, pressing down on their bodies with a force that felt almost physical, like being crushed under an invisible weight.

Then, it hit them.A suffocating pressure descended out of nowhere, slamming down on everyone with terrifying force.

"Ghh,...!"

Most of the Adventurers didn’t even have time to react before they were forced down, their bodies crashing into the ground as if something massive had pushed them from above.

The sound of bones creaking filled the air, followed by sharp, painful screams as the pressure continued to increase, grinding against their bodies without mercy. Some of them tried to move, tried to lift themselves, but it was useless, their limbs refusing to respond as they were pinned down completely.

Mina didn’t even last a second. Her small body trembled once before she collapsed flat against the ground, her eyes rolling back as she lost consciousness instantly, a thin stream of blood spilling from her mouth as the pressure crushed down on her.

"Mina!" Sage shouted, his voice strained.

But even he was struggling.

His body trembled as he forced himself to stay upright, his knee hitting the ground as he tried to resist the overwhelming force pressing down on him.

His muscles screamed in protest, his bones feeling like they were about to crack under the pressure, but he refused to fall completely, his teeth clenched tightly as he forced his body to move, even if it was just a little.

Beside him, Gregor and Vanthrice were in similar states, both of them kneeling on one leg, their faces pale as they struggled to breathe, their bodies shaking as they fought against the invisible force that threatened to crush them completely.

The three of them couldn’t even lift their heads properly. Every movement felt like pushing against a mountain.

But still they tried. Slowly, painfully, they forced their heads up and what they saw,

made their blood run cold.

It was like staring into something that should not exist. Something that didn’t belong in any world. Something that made everything they had faced before feel small.

Gregor’s lips trembled as he tried to speak, his voice breaking as it forced its way out.

"W..wh..wha...What in the gods name is this abomination?"

His words echoed weakly in the heavy silence. But no one answered, because no one had the answer and deep down, they all knew it.

They were staring at something far beyond them. Something that did not belong to their level. Something that could end them without even trying.
