Chapter 29: Getting a true name Part1
The sun was starting to set slowly. Aric had not made a place for the goblins yet, so they would need to sleep outside, but the night was cold and harsh, so he made a big fire for them as night came.

The spirits had also returned, and as soon as he saw the spirits headed his way, he knew he was in for a full banter, so he prepared himself.
"We found nothing. We spent the whole day looking around and found nothing," the first spirit to reach him said.
"Yeah, all we saw were monsters doing monster things, nothing slightly important," another one said.
And from there, the banter began. Aric had no idea how the whole thing evolved into a banter, but they went at it, so he waited for them to finish before he spoke.
"I need your help," he said.
"Again? We just got back," one said.
"Yeah, we are not your slaves, you know?" another one said.
"Yeah, treat us with more respect," another spirit added.
"It will benefit all of you greatly," Aric said, and they all went quiet for a moment.
"Okay, we are listening. What is it?" one asked.
"I have no true name, and I want to get one, so I have decided to try and communicate with a higher spirit. According to what I know now, I can get them to speak to me if I create enough spiritual turbulence.
I want you all to be there to help me and guide me. I can't tell you why, but I only have one shot at this, and that's tonight, so I desperately need your help on this," Aric said.
The spirits went silent for a bit. Aric thought they were thinking about it, but no—the next moment, they got into another banter on the matter.
"He wants to get his true name? From a higher spirit?" one asked.
"We heard the sake going stupid. Why are you asking me?" another one asked.
"I wasn't asking you. I was just saying that, that is what he wants to do," the first spirit responded.
"No, you didn't. You asked a question. It was evidently a question," another one said.
"You are all talking about the wrong thing now. What we should be worried about is, do we go with him or not?" A sense of reason came into the argument, but that caused another back and forth.
After a good minute or two, they finally came to a conclusion.
"Fine, we will go with you," one said.
"Yes, but we do have a condition before we do," another one added.
"We also do not have true names, so the deal is that you will name all of us if you get your true name. Does that work for you?" the spirits asked.
"Yes, it does," Aric responded eagerly. He didn't have time to waste; his life was literally on the line here.
With that agreement, he was set to go. He decided to tell Ariel and Elisa before he left. Both of them were inside, so he walked to the door, knocked twice, and walked in.
He saw both of them talking and chatting away happily. The original apprehension that Elisa held for Ariel had vanished, and now they were communicating normally.
"Hey, ladies, sorry to interrupt, but I'm leaving for the night and don't know when I'll be back. I want to try and get my true name, so please don't wait up or worry. I will be back," Aric said. He didn't even give them a chance to say anything before walking out of the house.
"Alright, let's go," he said to the spirits. He grabbed his sword and strapped it to his belt before heading toward the gate.
When he arrived at the gate, he took a deep breath and walked past it, into the darkness of the forest. He kept walking for a few hundred meters, and then finally, he stopped near a small clearing.
"This should work," he said.
"Anywhere would have worked. Why did we have to come here, so far away?" one spirit asked.
"He has to ensure that no one distracts him, like you are doing right now, dummy," another spirit responded, and another quarrel broke out. They went back and forth until they finally stopped.
When they stopped, Aric sat down on the ground and crossed his legs. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes.
"I'll try to focus. Please tell me when it starts," Aric said. He emptied his mind and thought about using his spirit affinity.
It happened like the first time, and soon his body started emitting spirit energy.
"It has started already," one of the spirits said.
"So soon?" another one asked.
"Can't you feel it?" one asked.
The spirit energy kept rising and rising until it started getting too much for the lesser spirits to take. They tried to tell Aric, but he was locked in and couldn't hear them.
They all gave him space because they feared they would die if they stayed too close. Even then, the spirit energy didn't stop rising. It kept shooting up, more and more.
Aric was in his mind. All he kept trying to do was focus more and more. He had no idea that the spirit energy he was emitting had even driven away the higher spirits that had been headed his way.
His lesser spirits had run off too; none of them could bear the energy. But Aric kept going until suddenly, he felt a sense of coolness wash over his body.
"You seem like a fascinating young one." A beautiful voice followed, going right into his mind. Aric's eyes shot open, and he saw himself in a field.
He stood there in the middle of flowers, the air's beautiful smell reaching his nose, the sounds of birds chirping, and the cool breeze washing over his body.
He looked in the distance and saw a lady dancing in the flowers, her beautiful white dress flowing in the wind, her milk-white hair swaying as she moved with elegance.
