Chapter 19: Killing the party
Aric walked toward the battle with the confidence of someone who was untouchable. He swung his hand slightly, nonchalant, and made sure each of his steps hit the ground and sounded.
His sudden presence drew the attention of both the goblins and the party.
"Hey, yeah, sorry for jumping in here, but we need to talk," Aric said, and what followed next was him entering the system shop and searching for a flashbang.
For some reason, a flashbang cost two thousand gold, but he bought it without hesitation. After pinning it, he tossed it at the goblins, and the flash exploded.
The bright light scared the goblins immediately. They ran into the trees, all of them rushing in fear.
The party also held up their weapons in fright. They had never seen something like that before, so it scared them to see.
"That cost a lot. It better be enough time," Aric complained as he walked. He stood in front of the party with a smile on his face.
"Hello," he greeted again. They were all on guard when they saw him, their eyes watching his every move.
The leader's eyes moved to Aric's ears. He saw their length and spoke. "You are an elf," he said.
"No, not quite. I am a hybrid, a mix between a human and an elf—a half-elf," he said. He saw the look of confusion form on the leader's face, followed by a look of disgust, which pissed Aric off.
"It seems you are not happy with the fact that I am a half-elf. Well, I don't want you to be happy about it. I could not be bothered, but right now, inside that goblin cove is your person.
The person you are trying to save—no one knows what has happened to her. She might have been raped already, with goblins crawling in her womb," Aric said.
"You bloody bastard, curse you!" the man yelled. He charged along with the woman, but an arrow suddenly shot into the ground between them and exploded into some sort of green flame.
The man and the woman came to a halt and started looking around in fear for the sniper.
"Don't bother yourself. The person that shot that has the ability to shoot from a really far distance—you won't find her," he said. "You see, if you dare to make a move against me, an arrow will go right through your heart.
Now, I have less than a few minutes before the goblins probably start rushing out, and that thing I did—yeah, I'm not doing that again because, well, it was expensive to do.
So I want you to listen to me. If I manage to get whoever it is that the goblins have, then you can take her and leave—no hard feelings, no killing of any more goblins.
Do you agree to that offer?" he asked.
"Captain, I've found her!" Suddenly, the female mage at the back said and then cast a spell very quickly, shooting a bolt of lightning into the tree that Ariel was in.
The bolt hit the branch and took down the tree along with Ariel. She fell to the ground along with the tree. Seeing this made Aric very mad. He pulled his sword without a second of thought.
"Screw you," he said in anger and charged at the man. The man also took his sword and raised it above his head, going for a strike. He believed he would take down Aric in one powerful chop.
But to his surprise, Aric blocked the sword. He looked at the man with pure anger in his eyes and then sent a kick right to the man's forbidden region.
The man immediately went down to his knees, holding his groin in pain. Aric raised his blade to finish it, but the female greatsword user charged at Aric and swung at him.
He blocked the attack as well. The lesser spirits then suddenly came out of nowhere, screaming and yelling.
"Help him."
"Help Aric."
Their voices—only Aric could hear. They surrounded the lady, and one touched her. The next second, flames covered her entire body.
She began yelling and tossing on the ground in pain as the flames burned her up.
Aric was shocked to see this. He didn't think that the spirits would be capable of something like that. The other party members also watched in fear as their member burned up until death.

Aric looked at that notification and honestly didn't know how to feel. He had killed a human. Technically, the spirits belonged to him.
Aric understood something at this moment. He couldn't allow these people to get away now. Since he had killed one, if he let them go, they would return with others, and they would kill him.
He couldn't take that chance right now, especially after what humans did to him in this world. Sure, it was not him, but the memories of the pain and everything were now with him forever.
Without hesitation, he raised his blade and killed the leader by stabbing him.

He looked up and saw the man with the spear and the mages. They looked scared and unsure of what to do. The spearman decided to attack, but an arrow flew right into his arm. He yelled in pain.
Aric charged at him, and with a slash, finished the attack.

The mages became scared, their hands shivering uncontrollably. Ariel walked up behind Aric, and without a pause, she shot two arrows, killing the mages.
Aric turned to her immediately. He held her and started checking her body. "Are you alright? Are you fine?" he asked.
"I'm fine. Such a fall wouldn't be able to harm me. I'm more shocked that she was able to hit me from that distance," Ariel said.
