Chapter 88: Calm Before The Storm. Part-1.

[Rolling_Crocodile: Aside from how seductive she looks, Goddess Xinran is really knowledgeable. It’s a good thing our great tank god met her.]

[Blue_Dinosaur: Yeah, if she can just keep her paws off our great god, things would only get better from now on...]

[Invincible_Bob: By the way, is it just me, or has everyone forgotten that we were all originally betting on whether the anchor would be able to survive a week?

From what it looks like, our Invincible Tank God, has not only surpassed the one-week mark; he might keep going for months!]

[Rolling_Crocodile: Oi oi, don’t jinx him. This is exactly why I wasn’t mentioned until now that he’s passed the one-week mark, I am worried that something might go wrong at any moment; that place is filled with disasters!]

[Blue_Dinosaur: Indeed... the two of them are on a dangerous mission right now and from the looks of it, they will likely end up fighting that ’Vessel of Corrosion’ sooner or later...

I just hope that nothing bad happens to our great tank god... I didn’t have much hope for him at the start but now... I want to believe in him...]

[Invincible_Bob: The feeling is mutual... once they complete this mission and manage to get out alive from the capital city, I am going to throw a party with my friends!]

[Mouse_Of_Dread: Keke, don’t set flags lil bro, lest we end up throwing a funeral instead of a party keke!]

[Invincible_Bob: No one can defeat our great tank god! He’s invincible and unbreakable! Although he’s still just a newbie in this dangerous world. I believe he will carve out his own place in that world sooner or later. I believe in him.]

[Shining_Lorraine: Although I am already past the age where I should be believing in fairy tales and miracles... but even then, I want to believe in him. I will believe in the Indomitable Tank God Spirit.]

[Rolling_Crocodile: Well, if everyone else is saying it, it would be rude of me not to speak up too... I believe in the Undefeatable God of Muscles too. I hope for his well-being!]

[Invincible_Bob: Yes! Let’s hope for his well-being.]

...

’Heh, my efforts have finally borne fruit. More and more people are starting to believe in me... My Belief points are rising like a rocket at an incredible speed!’

Sitting on a random boulder, Zephyr used a stick to poke the bonfire, and a feeling of relief washed over him instantly.

’So... it’s already been more than a week since I came to this world. It feels like ages have gone by to me though...’

’That carefree life in my small rented apartment... that daily chore of a cooking job, that continuous heavy work-load... to think that all the things that I used to feel bored of now seem so blissful is great irony...’

’Back then, I didn’t even care about that boring lifestyle but now... I would kill to go back to that peaceful time of living a carefree life.’

Staring at the bonfire, Zephyr sighed to himself.

’Those days of drinking and eating whatever I wanted, those days of playing games whenever I wanted, those days wandering to random places in the middle of the night in search of good drinking places...’

’They used to be everyday boring parts of my life... but now... that life feels too distant to even grasp a hold of... in this horror-filled world, survival alone is already too difficult, let alone enjoying peace...’

Although Zephyr didn’t have any lingering obsessions with that previous world and had no one waiting for his return, he just wanted to somehow find a way back.

That peaceful life with no danger and no enemies, which used to feel boring, now seemed like the greatest wish he could hope for.

"Hoh? So, you can make such facial expressions too? I mistook you for the type that only cared about themselves, but it turns out you have a story of your own, Zephyr Reid."

Hearing the words, Zephyr glanced to the left where Xinran was sitting on a giant boulder in a mediation posture.

After sealing that blob of mass, Xinran had spent a lot of mana, and since they were now quite close to entering the capital city, it was a good idea to catch up on rest and adjust their bodies to the best state possible.

Thus, the two of them traveled deeper for a while and stopped near the entrance to the underground sewer area to cook and rest.

Xinran immediately started meditating to boost her mana recovery speed, and Zephyr, on the other hand, started cooking for them both.

"Everyone who can survive in this Abominable Sea of ash has got to have a story of their own... you have your own past, and I am the same too..."

"And of course, I can make all sorts of human-like expressions; I am a human after all."

Hearing those words, Xinran changed her sitting posture, hung her long, slender legs down from the boulder and placed her hand above to support her chin, then leaned down to look at Zephyr carefully before speaking,

"No way. A normal human cannot possibly have a body strong enough to tank direct attacks from me. My teeth that can pierce through metal like butter broke from trying to bite you..."

"Thankfully we vampires have powerful regeneration abilities; otherwise, I would have become the first toothless vampire princess in the world you know!"

"Even before awakening mana, you already had a tough body, now that you have mana... I don’t know if I can even put a dent in your skin... I suspect I likely can’t bite you and drink your blood unless you yourself let me do it..."

While saying those words, Xinran stared at Zephyr’s fine neck muscles and spoke in an extremely seductive voice,

"Ah, you are so tempting that it’s really difficult to hold back."

Ignoring Xinran’s words, Zephyr added seasonings to the food that he was preparing on the bonfire and asked in his usual calm voice,

"Stop gawking at me and tell me if you have come up with a proper plan to deal with that ’Vessel of Corrosion’; we do not have the luxury to waste time..."
