Chapter 87: The Versatile Blood Magic. Part-3.
"It’s reached maturity... How did this kind of monster even end up in the underground mines? Usually these kind of monsters lurk near places with monster nests or hidden settlements..."
The creature reproduced using other creatures as its prey, but in this underground mine, there are barely any living creatures, as it’s mostly just filled with golems and robots.
Usually this one-eyed blob of mass can only be found near hidden human settlements that have accidentally gotten exposed to the creature due to its amazing tracking ability.
"These creatures have extraordinary tracking abilities; I have been using mana interference since the moment we encountered that first golem to hide our presence..."
"But this creature still managed to detect us and launch a surprise attack... just from this, you can guess how powerful its detection ability is..."
Hearing those words from Xinran, a frown appeared on Zephyr’s face as he asked back,
"Could it be that the ’Vessel of Corrosion’ placed this monster here to act as an enemy detection radar?"
A smile appeared on Xinran’s face after hearing Zephyr’s words, and she nodded her head.
"As expected, you are smart enough to easily guess such things... Indeed, I also suspect that this creature likely couldn’t have made its way here on its own."
"Creature of this type are generally very slow and do not have much agility at all..."
"Once they fix themselves to one location and make it their nest, they never move the nest unless something life-threatening happens."
"I suspect that if we killed it, it will trigger some hidden trap and the Vessel of Corrosion will likely notice it..."
Although the situation seemed grim, a happy smile appeared on Xinran’s face while looking at the giant blob of mass as if she had found a treasure!
"Don’t smile while looking at that thing... what are you going to do with it?"
Hearing Zephyr’s caution-filled words, Xinran didn’t reply but flicked her finger and brought out a small glass bottle from her space ring.
Although the bottle looked extremely ordinary and fragile, Zephyr’s intuition told him that even if he used his full strength, he might still not be able to make a single dent on that fragile-looking glass bottle!
"Catch!"
Xinran threw the bottle at Zephyr, causing him to feel surprised for a second, but he didn’t hesitate and caught the bottle.
"Wha-"
Before Zephyr could examine the bottle or ask any questions, Xinran pointed her slender index finger towards the monster, and the mana in the surroundings started to flow towards her at an insane speed!
Xinran’s grimoire appeared beside her, and its pages started flipping on their own, and just as the page with a big diagram of a sealing circuit was flipped, Xinran was done gathering mana and used her magic.
[Master Grade Blood Magic: Blood Seal: Queen of Domination!]
A magic circle so massive that it went through the walls of the underground mine corridor spread out in all directions.
Just the central core area of the magic circle where the strange monster had been confined was big enough to cover the entire corrupted area that was filled with the monster’s tears of dark blood.
Chains flashing with a crimson aura rose from the magic circle one after another and bound the blob of mass along with the corruption it had spread in one place firmly!
A massive crimson throne materialized above sealed chains, and the monster beneath seemed to be fixed in time as if the throne had sealed the space-time fabric for the monster with its majestic weight and existence.
Zephyr even felt that he saw a familiar silhouette of a certain vampire princess sitting on that throne for a moment.
After hundreds of chains bound the monster completely, the magic circle started to shrink and fold layer by layer as if the circle were creating a second outer seal on the monster by shrinking and folding the space-time fabric itself!
Soon, the dozens of meters big blob of mass shrunk to the size of a person’s thumb and flew towards the bottle in Zephyr’s hand.
The cork on the glass bottle opened on its own, and the sealed monstrosity flew inside quietly without struggle.
Soon the cork was sealed shut, and the transparent bottle turned crimson red, blocking the view as if making sure that no one could see what was stored inside.
From the start to the end, the monster never had a single chance to even resist; it could only just stay in one place and accept being sealed by Xinran without even being able to move a single inch!
Although the process seemed to have involved many steps and tricks, the entire sealing event happened in under three seconds!
In just three seconds, Xinran not only cast ’Master Grade’ magic, but she also sealed a monster capable of destroying entire cities by completely suppressing it to the point that it could not even resist in the slightest.
The entire process was so smooth and fast that Zephyr could not find words to speak and was left completely speechless.
All he could do was just stare at the bottle and then at Xinran in sheer shock and disbelief.
"Th-this..."
Xinran glanced at Zephyr in that moment and smirked cheekily, as if saying, ’Hmph! Now you understand the greatness of this young lady? Kowtow to me three times and I might let you become my obedient little slave!’
"Blood magic... it’s really strong and versatile... I kind of feel jealous."
Hearing Zephyr’s words, the smugness on Xinran’s face became even more apparent.
"Hehe, it’s not that Blood Magic itself is that strong. Even back in the peak days of the empire, rarely any vampires could master blood magic to this level..."
"The strength of my Blood Magic originates from my royal bloodline and also my relentless hard work..."
"Believe it or not, I have been practicing this magic for decades. Nobody is born with this level of strength without effort; it’s impossible to achieve this."
Hearing Xinran’s words, Zephyr did not feel disgusted by her self-flattering words but instead felt quite convinced.
He himself has insanely high talent, and despite that, he still can’t confidently say that he could have dealt with the blob of mass as easily as Xinran.
Her control over mana, her ability to conjure master-grade spells in seconds without the need for long spell casting time, all this shows how much effort she has put into mastering her own skills and abilities.
It won’t be wrong to say that she hasn’t spent decades wandering the Abominable Sea of Ash carelessly; she has always been preserving her mentality of constant improvement.
’I really don’t get this woman. One moment she is behaving outrageously and doing things that might harm me; the next moment she is showing off her determination and self-restraint...’
’Yan Xinran, I must admit... you are very interesting.’
Although Zephyr still felt resentful because of her past deeds, no one disliked a reliable companion who could help you out in moments of need.
In this dangerous world where corrupted beasts and horrors wandered around freely, having a strong person like Xinran as your friend was not a bad idea.
Even if she were a bit mentally deranged and liked to behave weirdly, Zephyr didn’t mind it as long as she could help him out every once in a while.
’Hmm? Is it just me or did he just smile a bit?’
Xinran’s pupils shook a bit as she hurriedly focused her senses on Zephyr, but despite constant probing, she could not find anything and had to give up.
’Was that an illusion? Sigh, impressing this idiot is really too difficult; if it was any other man in his place, they would have already become obsessed with me!’
’Sigh, well, if the other party got obsessed with me so easily, I wouldn’t have spent this much effort on them either...’
Shaking her head in dismay, Xinran once again started to lead the way forward with Zephyr walking behind her.
"Put that sealed bottle in your space ring and keep that monster with you; that bottle is a powerful sealing artifact that has a deep soul connection with me."
"If you have that bottle, I will be able to keep a general track of your location. We are going to enter the city soon, and anything can happen."
"If we get separated later for some reason, I will be able to find you through that bottle, so keep it safe."
Killing that monster would likely have made the ’Vessel of Corrosion’ alert; fighting an already alert enemy was not optimal. Xinran wanted to launch a sneak attack on the other party, so she chose to seal the monster.
"Okay, by the way... is Blood Magic exclusive to vampires only?"
Hearing Zephyr’s words, Xinran shook her head.
"No. Usually only vampires have the ability to learn blood magic because of their bloodline abilities."
"To be honest, Blood magic is a branch of the ’water magic category’; if someone has high mastery over water magic and has high affinity with water and blood, they might also be able to learn Blood Magic..."
"But of course, something like this is very rare... at least I have never met anyone who could master blood magic without being a vampire."
Xinran glanced at Zephyr and spoke,
"Moreover, if someone already has the ability to master ’Water Magic’ completely, they wouldn’t really need ’Blood Magic’ anymore; they can do almost everything that blood magic can do with their water magic."
"Going from water magic to blood magic is easier, but the opposite is extremely difficult. This is the main reason why I can use blood magic but not water magic."
