Chapter 81: In The Mines of Velmoira. Part-4.

The walls of the tunnel, the ground, the air, everything suddenly turned dark red as if painted with a thick layer of red blood!

As if a lake of blood had suddenly descended out of nowhere, Zephyr was astonished to find that he had become incapable of movement.

The moment the ground turned into blood, it was as if the mana in the entire area had solidified along with the air, forcefully restricting the movement of anyone inside this strange ’Domain of Blood’ except for Xinran, of course.

Before Zephyr could understand what was going on, a massive figure of a golem appeared on the ceiling of the tunnel due to the blood covering its entire body.

"As I thought, it’s an Elite Assassin Type Golem. How weird... something like that shouldn’t be existing inside this shabby mine?"

"Weren’t these golems supposed to be stationed in hidden military bunkers of the nation’s hidden arsenal? What is this golem doing here then?"

While Xinran was confused and muttering to herself, the golem’s body suddenly transformed into a spider-like form, and using its powerful pointed legs, the golem started to escape!

The tunnel was insanely massive and wide; it was easy for the golem to use the ceiling as its ground and run away if not taken care of in time.

Seeing it try to escape, Zephyr felt a bit anxious, but Xinran only scoffed at that pitiful escape attempt.

"It’s pointless; this is my territory. The territory of the Vampire Queen is not something so easy to escape."

Xinran flicked her finger, and massive, gigantic hands made of blood sprang out from various directions and immediately entangled the golem before forcefully restraining its limbs and bringing it towards Xinran.

"Now let’s see what you have in store for me..."

Without explaining anything, Xinran used those giant bloody hands to forcefully rip apart the chest of the golem in an attempt to dig out its core, but before she could succeed, the core suddenly started glowing brightly!

Mana swelled in the core, and at an incredible speed, the core self-detonated itself on the spot!

*BOOOOM!!!!!!*

The explosion from that core was so powerful that it shook the entire tunnel, causing the walls and ground to crack open!

The entire mine started collapsing on the spot at an incredibly fast speed!

By the time the collapse stopped and the dust settled down, the entire mining tunnel had been destroyed, and the entrance had been buried under thousands of tons of debris!

"Cough! Cough!"

"Urgh! The entire tunnel collapsed!? What bad luck!! Tch!"

Standing in utter darkness, Zephyr looked behind him only to see that the way back was blocked with a massive amount of debris!

"Thankfully, I can run fast and managed to make it out alive; if we got buried underneath all that, it would have been difficult to get out in a short time."

A frown appeared on Zephyr’s face as he looked down only to notice that Xinran’s body had gone stiff for some reason and her breathing was a bit uneven.

"Hm, are you okay? The collapse of the mine shouldn’t have affected you much. How come you are sweating so much?"

Putting a hand on her forehead, Zephyr realized that it was abnormally hot.

"D*mn! You are burning up like crazy! Do vampires get fevers too? Hello? Are you hearing me?"

As if completely ignoring Zephyr’s words, Xinran wrapped her hand around Zephyr and kept moving restlessly for some reason.

"Hahhh... hah... fuu... hah... I... I... this... s-stop... stop whispering in my ear... it’s unbearable... hah... hah..."

Zephyr felt that he needed to distance himself from Xinran, as his intuition told him that the situation was getting out of control.

"Unhand me woman!"

It took a lot of effort for Zephyr to escape Xinran’s restless arms that kept moving around like dishonest slippery eels, and he barely managed to distance himself from Xinran after a full ten minutes of struggle!

Once separated, the strange look of craziness disappeared from Xinran’s eyes in a few minutes, and her expression finally became normal.

"W-wha... what is..."

A look of shock and speechlessness appeared on Xinran’s face as if she had realized how weird her previous actions were!

She glanced at Zephyr and then at her own hands and noticed that her nails had grown longer and sharper without her even noticing, and a look of understanding appeared on her face.

"I see... no wonder.... Why didn’t I think of it before..."

Hearing Xinran mutter to herself, Zephyr felt quite conflicted in heart.

’I feel like the decision to come to the Capital with her might have been a bad decision after all!’

"Err... are you okay? What’s going on with you? Why were you suddenly behaving so weirdly just now?"

"Look, I know that you are a perverted weirdo who likes to flirt and seduce. But I would prefer if you keep yourself calm during our expedition to the capital; we are in a dangerous environment right now, and we can’t let our guard down like earlier."

"If an enemy had come when we were entangled with each other earlier, we would have both suffered greatly and-"

Before Zephyr could even finish his sentence, Xinran suddenly looked Zephyr straight in the eyes and spoke up.

"I think I know why this happened... It’s because I am starving and malnourished!"

Hearing that reply, Zephyr was taken aback, but before he could ask any questions, Xinran continued talking.

"It all makes sense now... no wonder I felt so attracted towards your presence since the start!"

"It’s because drinking your blood can alleviate my malnutrition and help me recover to my peak state!"

At those words, Zephyr took a defense stance instantly.

"Yan Xinran, although we had an agreement before, don’t push your luck."

"As I told you before, I will never agree to becoming your puppet! We have a healthy cooperation going on here; don’t mess it up for a moment’s greed!"

Zephyr’s eyes turned from friendly to aggressive almost instantly!

He had never truly trusted Xinran in the first place! He was ready to fight her again for his own survival!
