Chapter 143: The Mighty Cheetah as witness

It did not take long for the warriors to be back.

They raided every possible corner looking for something that looked suspicious and it was found, wrapped in a clothing from the fox clan, just as Mira had said.

The concoction mix, still tied as Hye Yang handed it to the cheetah cub, was handed to the Ruling Oracle placed just on the concrete table.

One of hell stretched their hands forward to take it, their faces were hidden so Mira could not see any facial reactions but she watched them pass it among themselves.

Mira soared Hye Yang a glance. She looked like someone who was aware that she was on the verge of being utterly ruined and was about to piss herself.

"My Lords!" Hye Yang blurted out. She fell to the floor with her head bowed down and hands stretched before her. She did not try to argue or talk her way out of it, even she knew that there was no way out of this and she blamed herself so hard for falling for that stupid trick.

Of course Mira would have been smart enough not to drink something that looked so similar to what she had in the pride land. It was then a thought hit Hye Yang.

For all she knew, Mira could have sent the cub to get this from her so she could use it against her and she fell for it. Nothing was more vexing than knowing that she fell into such an obvious trap without thinking anything through. To think she boasted about this before! Hye Yang’s head was face down on the ground. "I have no excuse for what I have done, but please fact check my sister’s words carefully.

She claims that I tried to get rid of her and her cubs in the lion clan but she has not provided any witnesses to validate her claim."

Mira’s eyes widened. No one from the lion clan were in the cheetah clan so the other lions that were present that day would not be able to validate her claim and Jia Hao was far from her too. Now that Mira thought about it, Jia Hao was on his way by the summon of the Ruling Oracle so if he was headed there, what were they doing here?

"For all we know, this could be another scheme of hers to blame me for her actions." Hye Yang pushed, her words jolted Mira out of her thoughts. Hye Yang was revolving in circles and it was getting old but she sounded so believable with her consistent words. "Tell her to present her witnesses!"

"This occurred in the pride land, of course the witnesses are out of reach!" Mira blurted out.

"That seems pretty convenient, sister!" Hye Yang shot back.

Mira’s brows furrowed. "If the Ruling Oracle have time to stay longer then I would happily suggest that the lion cub and the male lions present on that day would be called to speak." Mira stated. What she feared was that this would be considered redundant. Besides, the Ruling Oracle were rumoured to have eyes everywhere, surely they knew of these things yet they were asking them to say it. Mira could not tell if this sounded suspicious or if they just wanted them to say the truth.

"And to prove this is not a lie, my sister, Hye Yang was banished from the lion clan for this atrocity. That is proof enough!"

Hye Yang raised her head up slightly then fell it back down. "It is obvious from this moment that my sister does not like me. She has the power to make her husbands banish me from their clan. My Lords, the Lion King Jia Hao is not present here and has gone for a long journey. There are no other witnesses to this that can be brought on quick notice without being influenced to take the side of Mira Yang. She is the mother of the lion tribe after all and any member of that tribe would take her side. Please show me mercy from her unjust actions which led to my banishment. I am innocent!"

Mira scoffed. For a moment, she thought she won but Hye Yang was really good with words that it left Mira with disbelief. It looked like the Ruling Oracle had already been bribed, if that was even possible.

"Are there any other witnesses to your claim, mate of the rulers of the beast world?" Echoed in the room. Mira but her inner cheeks at this question. The only available person that was present to give witness was Ming Tao.

This made Mira’s heart race in her chest. "I do." Mira muttered.

"Who is it?"

Mira hesitated. She felt her fingers tremble as she uttered the words. "My husband, Ming Tao." She managed to say.

"Call for the Mighty Cheetah at once and do so with caution." Reverberated in the cave room. A warrior responded with a bow before leaving. Mira felt really nervous.

Ming Tao had not been anywhere near her these past few days and she could not tell whether he would take her side or not.

[ Relax Host!

He is your husband after all! The one who loves you!] System chimed.

Mira water to believe that. These days, he acted more like a foreigner than her husband but she did not want to doubt him now, not when she desperately needed him to testify for her.

I will try to be calm, Mira said to system in her mind. She had met Ming Tao when she laced Hye Yang’s food with laxatives. He had protected her from Hye Yang even though he was cold about it. So maybe. . . Just maybe. . . He would stand by her this time. She really needed him to.

Quietness remained in the cave room. It was so silent that Mira heard her own breathing. Soon, she heard multiple footsteps. Her heart pounded in her chest even more, louder in her ears this time.

"The Mighty Cheetah has arrived on your order, Great Ones." The warrior said.
