Chapter 82: The New Greatest Raid Begins (Part 3)
"Oh, damn it! There’s more than one Anubis!" someone shouted.
"What do we do now?" another asked.
Worry spread across several faces.
"..."
"Kardol was right," Rhadyt added. "Ga, what’s the plan now?"
Ringga fell silent for a moment.
"Don’t worry. With Luna’s buffs, we can handle them," Kardol said confidently.
"Dyt, Kardol—you two take a few people and hold one Anubis back. I’ll keep another one occupied while the rest of you take down the last one," Ringga instructed.
Rhadyt nodded.
Moments later, the monsters charged toward them.
"Everyone, wait for my signal," Ringga said.
Everyone tightened their grip on their weapons and prepared for battle once more.
Sweat trickled down their foreheads and rolled across their cheeks.
Silence filled the battlefield.
Only the sound of the wind...
and the heavy footsteps of the approaching monsters...
"..."
I snapped my fingers once again.
A gentle white radiance enveloped everyone’s bodies.
"Attack!" Ringga shouted.
Without hesitation, he dashed toward one of the Anubises stationed at the edge of the battlefield.
The moment his command rang out, Rhadyt, Kardol, and several others rushed toward another Anubis, while the remaining players charged straight at the last one.
I need to finish this quickly...
Then I can help Ringga.
Just like before, Gale, Ryda, Hellen, and the DPS players below Level 250 were responsible for holding back Anubis’s minions.
Meanwhile, everyone above Level 250, together with the mages, focused all their attacks directly on Anubis.
CLANG! BAM! WHOOSH!
Both sides exchanged blows relentlessly.
To finish the battle as quickly as possible, I raised my hand and cast another Light spell.
High above the battlefield...
Countless motes of light gathered into a single point.
The glowing particles fused...
forming a gigantic cross suspended in the sky.
"Everyone, fall back!"
Hearing my warning, everyone immediately retreated away from Anubis.
I swung my hand downward.
The colossal cross descended from the heavens.
BOOOOM!!
It crashed directly onto Anubis.
The gigantic guardian collapsed to the ground unconscious.
Moments later, the radiant cross dissolved into countless particles of light that scattered across the battlefield.
"Now!" Mbah Dukun shouted.
Seeing Anubis lying helplessly on the ground, everyone unleashed their strongest attacks simultaneously.
Within seconds—
Anubis was defeated.
"Huff... We finally did it," someone sighed in relief.
"Don’t relax yet," Mbah Dukun said sternly.
"The battle isn’t over."
"Lun, go help Ringga. The rest of you, come with me—we’re going to assist Rhadyt and Kardol."
"YES!!"
Meanwhile, on Rhadyt and Kardol’s Side
CLANG!!
BANG!!
"Argh...!"
Buyak groaned as Anubis’s attack sent him flying backward.
"You alright?" a male priest asked.
"Yeah... I’m fine."
The priest immediately cast a healing spell.
Soft green light enveloped Buyak’s body, rapidly restoring his injuries.
"I don’t even want to imagine what would’ve happened without Luna’s buffs," one of the tanks muttered.
"..."
"Dyt! Hold Anubis in place!"
"Mages! Begin chanting!" Kardol ordered.
"Roger!"
The melee fighters continued intercepting Anubis’s minions while Rhadyt kept the giant guardian occupied.
"..."
"We’re ready!" the mages shouted.
"Then... FIRE!"
Dozens of spells shot toward Anubis simultaneously.
Realizing the danger, Anubis raised his staff to intercept them.
But just before his arm could move—
His own shadow suddenly came alive.
Dark tendrils rose from beneath him and wrapped around his body, pinning him in place.
Anubis widened his eyes in surprise.
By the time he looked back—
The barrage of magic had already reached him.
BOOM!!
BOOM!!
BOOM!!
Explosion after explosion engulfed his body.
When the smoke finally cleared...
Only ashes remained.
Meanwhile, Ringga’s Battlefield
Unlike before, Ringga wasn’t wearing his full suit of armor.
Instead, he was clad in lightweight leather armor reinforced with a few thin metal plates.
Nor had he drawn his sword and shield.
He fought entirely with his bare hands.
The instant the battle began, Ringga leaped straight into the middle of the horde of Mummies, Matyrs, Seths, and Anubis.
Drawing his fist back—
He slammed it into the ground the moment he landed.
BOOOOOOM!!
A violent shockwave erupted outward, blowing every monster around him off their feet.
Even Anubis, their commander, was hurled several meters away.
RRRAAAAGHHH!!
Enraged, Anubis raised his staff toward Ringga.
A dark violet magic circle appeared before him.
Five black spheres shot toward Ringga at incredible speed.
Seeing them, Ringga merely smirked.
POOF! POOF! POOF!
Just two meters before reaching him—
The spells struck an invisible barrier and vanished without leaving so much as a ripple.
"Magic won’t work on me," Ringga said with a confident grin.
Realizing his magic was useless, Anubis roared and charged forward.
Ringga dashed toward him as well.
Anubis swung his staff.
Ringga answered with a punch.
BOOM!!
The collision unleashed another powerful shockwave.
Anubis immediately followed up with a relentless barrage of claw strikes and staff attacks.
Ringga countered every single one with nothing but his fists.
BAM! BAM! BAM!
Each collision generated explosive waves of force that tore apart the surrounding ruins.
Several seconds later—
Ringga landed a devastating punch squarely in Anubis’s chest.
The guardian was launched backward, crashing through several buildings.
CRASH!!
BOOM!!
RUMBLE!!
Ringga slowly closed his eyes.
He lowered his stance into a martial artist’s fighting posture.
Three glowing spheres, each about the size of a baseball, materialized around him.
They revolved around his body before merging into him.
The atmosphere instantly changed.
The air itself grew heavier.
A tremendous pressure spread across the battlefield.
A slow whirlwind circled Ringga’s feet.
Moments later, the three glowing spheres reappeared, orbiting him once more.
Anubis staggered back to his feet.
Although wounded, he immediately rushed toward Ringga again.
His claws sliced toward Ringga’s chest.
Just as they were less than a meter away—
Ringga opened his eyes.
ASURA STRIKE!
His fist shot forward.
BOOOOOOM!!
A tremendous burst of energy erupted from his punch.
The invisible force pierced straight through Anubis’s body before continuing several hundred meters beyond, carving a deep trench through the earth itself.
The next instant—
Anubis’s body silently disintegrated into nothingness.
By the time I arrived...
Ringga had already finished the battle.
"Hey, Lun."
"I hurried over to help you..."
"...but it looks like you didn’t need me after all."
I laughed awkwardly.
Soon afterward, everyone else gathered around us.
"How’s everyone doing?" Ringga asked.
"No casualties."
"Just a few minor injuries."
"That’s thanks to Luna’s support magic, boosting everyone’s stats by fifty percent," Kardol replied.
"Good."
"For now, gather everyone together."
"Let’s find a place to rest."
Afterward, we searched the surrounding area and found a large building where everyone could recover.
• •
Inside the building...
Some people reviewed the battle strategy.
Others polished their weapons and repaired their armor.
Meanwhile, Ringga and I discussed our next course of action with our closest companions and several of the veteran players.
...
"By the way..."
Rhadyt suddenly spoke.
"That last attack..."
"Wasn’t that Asura Strike?"
Ringga nodded.
"I thought you were a tank..."
"...or maybe a swordsman?"
Rhadyt continued.
Ringga grinned.
"Just because I use a sword and shield..."
"...doesn’t automatically make me a swordsman or a tank."
"Ga..."
"You have the Cursed Skull Necklace, don’t you?"
"Heh..."
"You’ve got sharp eyes."
Ringga replied as he pulled down the collar around his neck.
Hanging there was a necklace made from a human skull, adorned with pale white beads.
"WHAT?!"
"YOU ACTUALLY HAVE THAT ITEM?!"
Axxel exclaimed in shock.
"What’s so special about it?"
Key asked.
"It’s one of the rarest and most mysterious items in TNWO," Mbah Dukun answered.
"Mysterious...?"
"And rare?"
Key repeated.
"That’s right."
"No one has ever figured out how to obtain it."
"Not through monster drops."
"Not through crafting."
"The entire community spent years sharing theories."
"They agreed to exchange every bit of information they found..."
"...yet nobody ever discovered its origin."
"The only confirmed fact..."
"...was that it belonged to the greatest player in TNWO."
"Darion, the Dragon Knight."
"The greatest player..."
Key murmured.
"So..."
"What does the necklace actually do?"
"It grants complete immunity to magic."
"Huh?!"
"Isn’t that ridiculously overpowered?"
Key exclaimed.
"It is."
"But it comes with a drawback."
"You also become immune to support magic."
Axxel folded his arms.
"Then why is it considered so amazing?"
"You know that every race in TNWO has its own unique racial ability, right?"
Key nodded.
"Beastmen can transform into beasts."
"Elves can draw power directly from nature."
"Draconians can transform into dragons."
"...and Darion..."
"...was a Draconian."
Silence fell.
A moment later—
Key’s eyes widened.
"A DRAGON..."
"...THAT’S IMMUNE TO MAGIC?!"
Axxel slowly nodded.
"With the right build..."
"...a transformed Dragon can reduce incoming physical damage by as much as eighty percent, but is weak to magic by four hundred percent."
"Add complete magic immunity on top of that..."
"...and you’ve created the strongest tank imaginable."
"I spent years searching for that necklace."
"I never expected to see someone else besides Darion wearing it, finally."
"I’d love to know where you found it."
"So would I!"
Axxel immediately agreed.
Ringga smiled.
"Alright."
"Break time’s over."
"Let’s continue the raid."
After resting for an hour...
We resumed our advance.
• •
"Where are we heading, Ga?"
Kardol asked.
"Straight to the city square."
"The city square?"
Ringga nodded.
Following his lead, we marched deeper into the city.
Along the way...
We encountered countless monsters we had already fought before.
None of them managed to stop our advance.
About ten minutes later—
"Huh...?"
"What is that...?"
Someone whispered.
The wind suddenly stopped.
The swirling sand froze in place.
Silence blanketed the battlefield.
Two black silhouettes slowly emerged in the distance.
Then—
A pair of crimson eyes opened.
As our vision became clearer...
We saw a dark-purple mummy sitting upon a throne made entirely of bones.
A magnificent crown rested atop its head.
Standing beside the throne...
was a beautiful woman whose lower body was that of a serpent.
Before them—
Dozens of mummies knelt with their heads lowered.
"...Isis..."
"...and..."
"...Osiris?!"
Everyone gasped in unison.
