Chapter 81: The New Greatest Raid Begins (Part 2)

With unwavering resolve, we entered the city.

As soon as we entered, a sandstorm suddenly engulfed everything.

A sandstorm?

Our surroundings began to blur, and visibility dropped to only about ten meters.

"This is not ordinary mist. Everyone, stay alert!" Axxel shouted.

Tension flickered across the faces of everyone present.

With our vision limited, we gripped our weapons more tightly. We moved slowly but steadily through the ruins of the village.

Tap tap... tap tap...

Crackle... crackle...

The sound of footsteps and hissing echoed around us.

"Hey, look! There’s someone!" Hellen said.

In a narrow alley, a dark silhouette resembling a human figure was observed.

Hellen started walking toward it...

"Wait!" Rhadyt commanded firmly.

"There’s no way a human could be here," Rhadyt added.

"Rhadyt’s right. In addition, this place is sealed. No human can get in here," Uncle Pedo said.

"Dol! Try using Search," Uncle Pedo added.

"Already did. But it seems this mist is blocking my detection skills," Kardol replied.

Everyone fell silent for a few moments.

"..."

"Then I’ll check it out," Kardol said.

Kardol then walked slowly toward a dark silhouette in the alley.

He advanced carefully while gripping the two daggers tightly.

"..."

The closer Kardol got, the clearer the blurred black silhouette became.

When he was only a few meters away...

The human-like figure has decaying flesh and emits a foul stench. Parts of its body were already stripped of flesh, revealing the bone beneath.

"This is!" Kardol was surprised.

He gripped his daggers, darted forward, and silently decapitated the zombie. Subsequently, he hurried back.

"..."

"What was it?" Grandpa Shaman asked.

"Ghoul," Kardol replied.

"A ghoul? What kind of monster is that?" Hellen asked.

"It’s like a more powerful type of zombie, characterized by its pale green or brown skin," Rhadyt clarified.

"Ghouls and deserts, huh..." Grandpa Shaman murmured.

"Did you see any other ghouls?" Ringga asked.

"No. Why?" Kardol asked.

"I see..." Ringga murmured.

"For now, let’s find shelter first," Ringga added.

We then continued moving and searched for shelter. After walking for a few minutes, we found a relatively intact building. It was quite large, and there was a direct stairway from the entrance to the second floor.

"This place..." Ryda murmured.

"This looks like it was once a luxury hotel or administrative office," Shana said.

We then split into small groups to search the building. I, along with Shana, Ryda, Hellen, Key, and Axxel, explored one of the rooms.

Because the room was dark, I used a magical light orb to illuminate our path.

"It’s been over 200 years, but this building is still standing, huh?" Key said.

"It must have been owned by a noble," Ryda replied, her voice steady.

My eyes scanned every corner of the building. We checked room after room, but found only floors, thick layers of dust on the furniture, and cobwebs hanging from the ceiling in each. When we reached one room...

GRAAAR!!

Suddenly, something lunged at us from the darkness.

THUD!

A figure attempted to attack us from the shadows, but fortunately, I had already set up a barrier. The creature was stopped two meters away from the protective energy field.

"Marit?" Axxel muttered.

The creature resembled a zombified Doberman, with its body wrapped in mummy cloth. Like the earlier Ghoul, parts of Marit’s body had rotted away, revealing the bone beneath.

RAARRGH!

Soon after, several more appeared and attempted to attack, but they too were held back by the barrier.

Seizing the opportunity, everyone launched an attack on the Marit.

Axxel with his great sword.

Key with her dagger and whip, and

Hellen with her arrows.

Ryda with her sword.

And Shana, with her magic.

Meanwhile, I provided support by maintaining their buffs.

A few minutes later, we encountered more Ghouls, Marits, and also Mummies. True to their name, they were humanoid monsters that were mummified.

"Lun, should we head back?" Axxel asked.

"You’re right. I think we’ve explored enough."

All participants nodded in agreement. We then returned to the main hall.

• •

When we returned, there were not many people in the hall. Only Ringga, Grandpa Shaman, and a few others were present.

"It looks like the others are still exploring," Key said.

"In that case, let’s report our findings first," Axxel replied.

Subsequently, we reported our findings to Ringga and others.

"..."

"Hm... what do you think, Ga?" Grandpa Shaman asked.

"There’s a good chance that the boss ruling this place is a boss from Egyptian mythology," said Ringga.

"You mean like Anubis and Osiris?" Axxel asked.

"Right... but that’s just my guess," Ringga replied.

Everyone fell silent for a moment after hearing Ringga’s statement.

"Whoever the enemy is, we’ll defeat them."

"Luna’s right..." Ringga said, smiling.

"Besides, with Luna’s buffs, we can’t lose, hahaha," Grandpa Shaman added with a laugh.

We chatted for a few more minutes before the other group members returned. Once everyone had gathered, we exchanged information with them.

"Hm... based on the intel we’ve gathered, it seems we’re facing monsters originating from desert and pyramid areas," Kardol said.

"You mean monsters from Egyptian mythology?" Rhadyt asked.

"Correct," Ringga answered.

"Does not that place have multiple bosses? Which one are we facing?" Axxel asked.

Ringga paused for a moment.

"All of them," replied Ringga.

"All of them?" Everyone exclaimed in surprise.

"But that’s just my guess," Ringga added.

Everyone whispered to each other.

"Wait! How do you know we’re fighting all of them?" Axxel asked.

"If you think about it, every monster we’ve fought since entering the city is a minion of the pyramid and desert bosses," Grandpa Shaman said.

"..."

"Come to think of it, our group also encountered Drainbats, Mummies, Marits, and a Mimic," Rhadyt replied.

"Ghouls, Marits, Mummies, Drainbats, and Mimics are monsters you’d find in desert areas, pyramids, or around the Sphinx. That is why it is very likely that we are facing bosses from those places," Kardol said.

Drainbats are red bat-like creatures the size of owls that feed on blood. Mimics are monsters that disguise themselves as treasure chests to lure their prey. Therefore, other groups encountered them as well.

After some discussion and rest, we continued our exploration of the topic.

• •

A few minutes after resuming our journey, we heard faint bells ringing in the distance. The sound echoed in our ears.

"Bells?" someone murmured.

"Guys, did you hear that bell?" Ryda asked.

"Yeah, I heard it," another person replied.

"I thought it was just my imagination, but it seems everyone heard it too," Shana said.

After hearing the bells, we encountered a creature resembling a Doberman, standing about one and a half meters tall, with jet-black fur, a pointed snout like a weasel’s or fox’s, a sharp, arrow-like tail, and piercing red eyes.

"Seth?" someone said.

*Seth? Is it Seth Anub? Is it a pet? If there are this many of them, that means...*

The further we walked, the more frequently we encountered the monsters. Finally, the bell tolled again as we approached a building that had once been a church.

RING!

The bell tolled. Suddenly, we were surrounded by numerous Seths. A tall, massive silhouette loomed over the church. As it came into focus, it stood five meters tall, with the head of a jackal, towering over the land like a ruler. Its red eyes glowed through the dust-filled air, while a golden Ankh symbol hung from its ear, a mark of dominion over life and death. Its head is adorned with a gold-striped headdress in the style of the Egyptian Kingdom. It wore a faded black cloth with gold patterns covering the upper half of its head. The other half were exposed to pale white ribs. A golden belt, tattered black cloth with gold patterns, and golden bracelets adorned the ankles and wrists. In its right hand, it held a staff shaped like a shepherd’s crook.

"Isn’t that... Anubis?" someone murmured.

"Time has come," Axxel said, clenching his fist against his chest.

"Everyone, get ready!" Kardol shouted.

Seeing us, Anubis roared deafeningly.

GRRAAARRHHH!

After roaring, Anubis raises his staff. Numerous magic circles appeared in our vicinity. From them, Mummies and Marits emerged as the main characters. When Anubis roared a second time, Seth and Marits charged toward us, followed by the mummies lumbering behind.

"Lun! Holy Attribute!" Kardol called out.

I snapped my fingers, and a faint white light enveloped us.

"Nice! With this, killing the undead will be easy," Axxel said.

This battle was inevitable.

The melee fighters immediately engaged Marits and Seth, while...

Grandpa Shaman, Shana, and the other mages unleashed fire and light magic at the Mummies in the rear. Their bodies were reduced to ashes and vanished into nothingness.

BOOM! SLASH! ZAP! SWOOSH!

Because Marits and Mummies are undead and weak to fire and light, and Seth is classified as a demon in the game and also weak to light, combined with my buffs, the battle was brief.

"..."

Seeing his children being slain, Anubis raised his staff. Numerous dark purple magic circles reappeared, summoning more Mummies, Marits, and Seth.

"Hey! Isn’t that cheating?!" Ryda shouted.

"Ugh... it seems this will never end unless we take down Anubis himself," Hellen said.

Anubis, who had been standing still, suddenly leapt toward us, raising his staff.

"Everyone, spread out!" Kardol shouted.

Hearing Kardol’s command, everyone retreated several meters from their previous positions as Anubis slammed his staff into the ground.

As his staff struck the earth, cracks spread two meters wide, and a shockwave erupted.

SWOOSH!

Although everyone managed to evade it, the blast of wind was still strong enough to send several Marits and Seth flying several meters.

"..."

"Hey! Your opponent is me!" Ringga shouted, raising his shield forward.

Soon, his shield began to reflect light in all directions. All the monsters suddenly became fixated on him, their red eyes locked on him.

GRAARRGHH!!

Anubis roared again before lunging at Ringga and swinging his claws.

"Lun! Sanctuary!"

CLANG!

Ringga easily deflected Anubis’s claws.

I gripped my staff with both hands and struck it on the ground. A massive magic circle appeared on Earth. Three seconds later, a pillar of light shot into the sky, enveloping everything around it.

The remaining Marits, Seth, and Mummies instantly turned into particles of light and vanished, swept away by the wind.

AAARRGGHHH!!

Anubis’s agonized screams echoed through the air.

"Mages! Now it’s our turn!" Grandpa Shaman shouted.

At his command, the mages unleashed their fire magic on Anubis one after another, while the healers used their healing spells.

Anubis continues to attack with his claws and staff, but Ringga deflects every strike. While Anubis focused on Ringga, the others swarmed the god of the dead.

Minutes later, as a pillar of fire engulfed Anubis, his body turned to ash and scattered into nothingness.

"Is it over?" someone said.

"This is too easy, hahaha," someone added.

"Hey! Don’t say death flag things like that!" someone shouted.

Shortly after, the sound of numerous footsteps could be heard. From behind the mist of the sandstorm, several faint black silhouettes emerged. As the footsteps sounded, the silhouettes became clearer. By the time everything cleared, we were surrounded by several mummies, Seth, Matyr, and three Anubis figures.

• •

Meanwhile, outside the barrier, Rima kept her gaze fixed on the seal, and her face was etched with worry.

"Lun, please be careful..."
