Chapter 51: Chapter 51: Forcing Back the Commander
Hearing this, Kevin rolled his eyes. "Once you see how messed up this guy is, you won’t ask questions like that."
In fact, if other Survivors weren’t there to share the pressure, Kevin would never get near that Mist Phantom King—not even within a kilometer.
The Mist Phantom King wasn’t like a normal Mist Phantom. It was a physical Eldritch Entity, but it also had the traits of a spirit-type Eldritch Entity, like a mix of a necromancer and a berserker.
From far away, the Mist Phantom King might only summon Mist Phantoms to swarm its enemies, but once they got close, it would show them what real curses and slaughter meant.
In his past life, Kevin had joined a fight to kill this guy. Back then, it took five whole Survivor fleets just to barely hold off the endless waves of Mist Phantoms.
But when the five captains got close to the Mist Phantom King, its body swelled into an eight-meter-tall giant beast. It was not only insanely strong and immune to weapons, but it could also use blood magic.
In the end, three of the five captains were killed.
Luckily, Kevin had the "Iron Heart" Talent. Wearing his mech, he could glide a short distance to get away, which saved his life. As for the other captain who escaped, he jumped into the ocean and barely survived.
Because of this, Kevin knew that the Mist Phantom King couldn’t swim.
Thinking of this, Kevin stared coldly at the Mist Phantom King standing on the lifeboat in the distance. He sneered in his mind, In this life, the first-kill reward for a Commander is mine.
Then, the girls started working on their tasks. There were still a lot of Hawk Mist Phantoms flying in circles in the air. Not wanting to waste any time, the girls quickly opened their chat channels and started spreading the news.
Luna and Amelia, who had no tasks, stopped Kevin and asked about the next plan. Kevin said directly, "I’ll use ’Deepsea Mist’ to cover you on your way to the beach. You need to make the silicon blocks as fast as possible."
Hearing this, Luna and Amelia did not hesitate. They grabbed two bottles of the dark green Fish Fiend Holy Spring and walked out of the cabin.
Kevin stood at the helm, watching the two girls the entire time. The moment they jumped off the ship, Kevin released a large amount of "Deepsea Mist."
The mist wrapped around Luna and Amelia, following them all the way to the furnace they had built earlier.
Right now, the furnace was still burning. The two girls quickly picked up firewood, made the fire bigger, and kept melting the silicon blocks.
The Hawk Mist Phantoms in the air had already spotted the two girls. They kept diving down, trying to scare the girls out of the "Deepsea Mist."
Luckily, Luna and Amelia stayed calm and did not fall for the trick. They even drank another bottle of Fish Fiend Holy Spring to release more mist, blocking the Hawk Mist Phantoms from looking at them.
In return, Kevin got another 2,200 cubic meters of "Deepsea Mist" back as a reward.
"Just what I needed," Kevin thought when he heard the alert. He immediately expanded the range of the "Deepsea Mist" around the sailboat.
Before this, the outline of the sailboat was still faintly visible through the mist, and some sharp-eyed Hawk Mist Phantoms even screeched at Kevin on the deck.null
The fog didn’t just spread wider; it got much thicker.
The Hawk Mist Phantoms in the sky couldn’t see the ship through the mist anymore. Even the Mist Phantom King, standing on its lifeboat miles away, frowned and let out two loud roars.
Taking advantage of the poor visibility, Kevin pulled out his Wraith Revolver and summoned three Fish Fiends.
He grabbed three Glock 19 pistols, loaded two Fireball bullets into each one, and handed them to the Fish Fiends. "Keep them dry. Don’t let them get wet. Swim close to the target—five hundred meters—and then fire."
At the order, all three Fish Fiends grabbed the pistols and held them in their mouths. Careful not to splash a drop of water on them, they slipped silently into the sea and swam toward their target.
Right then, the Mist Phantom King was speeding up toward Kevin’s ship. Tired of rowing, it summoned a bunch of Hawk Mist Phantoms to pull its lifeboat forward instead.
It was burning through a lot of its blood fog energy, but the speed boost had it pumped. It roared loudly, its eyes locked on the thick fog in the distance.
Behind the fog, Kevin watched it too. When he saw its speed jump from one knot to four, he grinned. "Let’s go."
The second Kevin spoke, a whirlpool broke the surface five hundred meters behind the King. A Fish Fiend popped up, spat its Glock into its hands, and aimed right at the lifeboat beneath the King.
At the same time, the King felt something wrong behind it. It turned its head just as sparks flew and a gunshot cracked. A massive fireball rushed forward, right on target to blow up the lifeboat.
The King’s eyes went wide, and it let out a shocked scream.
Panicking, it threw up a blood-red mist shield from its chest.
The Fireball round smashed into the shield. The impact and explosion tore through the mist layers, hitting the boat’s hull and leaving a deep dent.
The shot didn’t sink the boat, but it worked enough to make the King furious. Its eyes turned blood-red, and its tentacles shot straight up into the sky.
A moment later, a spear made of solid blood mist formed in its hand. With a flash of red light, it hurled the spear straight at the distant Fish Fiend.
But Kevin had expected this. The Fish Fiend had already started diving the moment it fired. By the time the blood spear hit the spot where it had been, the creature was already more than ten meters down, completely hidden.
Seeing this, the King let out a furious roar. It had never dealt with a low-tier Eldritch Entity daring to mock it like this. It was humiliated and raging.
Right as it was screaming in rage, two more Fish Fiends burst from the water on its left and right. Just like the first one, they pulled out their Glocks and fired at the exact same time.
Two Fireball rounds whizzed through the air in opposite directions, aiming straight for the lifeboat beneath the King.
The Mist Phantom King was still roaring, but when the sudden Fireball bullets came, it hastily threw up its blood mist shield again.
It was too rushed, so the blood mist shield didn’t fully form. The two Fireball bullets slammed right into the hull.
The huge explosion sent debris flying and left two deep pits, wide as water buckets.
Seeing this, the Mist Phantom King lost its temper. This time, it summoned a full twelve blood mist spears and fired them at the Fish Fiends on both sides.
But the fierce sea naturally absorbs blood mist. Once the spears hit the water, they only sank five meters before turning back into thin mist and disappearing into the ocean.
It wanted to keep firing at the three Fish Fiends, but the two big holes in its boat were already leaking.
It let out a deafening roar and pumped more blood mist into the hull to plug the leaks.
But the seawater kept breaking down the mist. The King had to keep pumping out more energy to hold it up, which was already draining it.
Feeling the drain, the Mist Phantom King shot a vicious glare at the thick fog in the distance.
Back on the deck of the sailboat, the Mist Phantom trapped in the glass bottle started writhing wildly.
It screamed and laughed, trying to say something, but without Stephanie’s body, it couldn’t talk.
Kevin saw it struggling and grinned. "I know you’re mad, but hold on. It’s not over yet."
As soon as Kevin finished speaking, three Fish Fiends broke the surface on the horizon, surrounding the King’s lifeboat in a tight triangle.
They moved fast, popping out of the water and raising their guns at once. Three Fireball bullets fired in unison straight for the lifeboat.
This time, the Mist Phantom King was absolutely furious.
It stopped trying to block the shots and just let out a massive roar.
Red ripples spread out from its body in every direction.
The waves carried heavy energy, pushing the ocean water outward in powerful surges.
Each surge turned into a shockwave of blood mist, slamming toward the three Fish Fiends.
The energy blasted through the water. Before the Fish Fiends could even dive deep, the waves tore them apart.
Even through the chaos, the three Fireball bullets still found their mark.
With no shield to block them, the three fireballs detonated right on target.
The blast and intense heat nearly swallowed the whole boat.
Panicking, the King knew it couldn’t stay on the sinking boat. It ripped off two of its own tentacles, pumping fresh blood and energy into the air until a massive flying dragon, nearly ten meters long, formed around it.
The King jumped onto the dragon’s back and shot straight into the air. But instead of flying toward Kevin’s ship, it turned around and fled fast.
Nova spotted the commotion on the horizon. Frowning, she asked, "What just happened? Why’d that thing run?"
Monchhichi, standing nearby, looked just as puzzled. "It can fly, so why didn’t it just come straight at us?"
