Chapter 198: Blood-curdling Screech

[You have killed the monster...]

Thala was walking around killing all sorts of monsters. In the past hour, he had leveled up twice, which brought him great joy.

After all the feeling of knowing that you are once again two steps closer to reaching his goal was something worth celebrating.

After picking up the core he stood still and began to think about something.

’This side has been completed; let’s move there... I have to make a trip to drop all the cores as well.’ Thinking this, he began to move right further into the dungeon.

The area where he was going to is somewhat untouched because from there the tier of the monster would begin to increase; most of the monsters there would be at tier Ⅱ, while some of them even reach tier Ⅲ.

Thala knew that tier Ⅲ would be the maximum tier of the monsters he could find in this dungeon, except for the boss, of course. Dhruv had already told them that the boss was going to be a tier Ⅳ monster, and under no circumstances should they fight the boss.

Forget about fighting, he had warned them not even to think about that. Thala had engraved these words, and he had done this to all of his other members as well.

Even after walking for five minutes, when he didn’t encounter a single monster; Thala knew something was off.

’Mana sense...’ Thinking about this, he activated one of the most important skills in his arsenal.

The moment he activated the skill, he was able to see something that wasn’t possible with the naked eye. An invisible Glimmerbat was hanging from the thin wire-like structure and was staring at him...

’A Tier Ⅲ monster...’ Before Thala could think anything else about the monster in front of him. The monster had already attacked with the attack that it had been charging all this time.

The monster used its wings to direct the sound towards Thala. Knowing that he didn’t have time to cast any spells, Thala tried to get away from the deafening sonic attack.

Unfortunately, his speed hadn’t reached the level where he could outrun sound, and thus he had to endure almost the full blow of the attack.

’Znnnnnnnn!!!

Enduring the attack, Thala acted swiftly and channeled all his wood mana in hand and cast a barrier around himself. The reason he didn’t attack the monster was because there was something wrong with his mind.

’Hoooowwww... whyyyyy... moossosotoeroerto... kalaaala’

His mind began to get filled with all types of random sounds, causing him to feel like his head was going to burst open at any moment. Fortunately, that didn’t happen, and the sound only remained for another five seconds.

’W-What was that... what type of attack was that..’ Thala cursed while gripping his head. Despite his reluctance, he was forced to drink a health potion to calm himself down.

Taking a deep breath, he removed the wooden barrier and instantly attacked the monster’s previous location with a wooden spear. Unfortunately, the monster wasn’t there... forget about that it wasn’t anywhere.

It had once again gone invisible.

He didn’t waste time thinking about it and directly activated the mana sense. Noticing that the monster was once again trying to flap its wings, he quickly changed direction while firing a wooden bullet in the bat’s direction.

The bat was forced to abandon his attack and fled away from there as well. Mid-flight, the monster had once again turned invisible and retreated.

Determined to turn the tide in his favor, Thala clenched his fist and began to focus on manipulating his mana instead of directly attacking the monster with basic attacks.

He knew that even though the monster had retreated, he would be able to find it with the help of mana sense. While using his manipulation, he activated the mana sense.

The moment he activated it, he began to see faint disturbances in the magical energy around a particular wire. From this, he knew that the monster was trying to cast one of its attacks as well.

"It’s time..." Knowing that the monster is vulnerable now for a few moments, Thala cast his spell without hesitation.

Thala summoned vines from the ground, intertwining them into a dense net in the direction he was sensing the Glimmerbat.

Thala seized the opportunity and guided the mana of the spell once again. With his command, the vines began to constrict around the Glimmerbat. He was trying to capture the monster in a smaller area.

However, the bat was swift, using its bird-like mobility to slip out of the wooden restraints.

Thala had already anticipated this, and thus, he was already prepared. For him to cast another spell successfully, he had to release his control from the [Forest Of Vines] spell.

Because he had already released his control over the vine, he was racing against time, even knowing this, he continued with his plan.

Swinging his hand in a wide arc, he sent a barrage of enchanted wooden arrows toward the bat. The Glimmerbat, who was focusing on trying to evade the vine, was caught off guard and couldn’t fully evade the attack.

Thala’s mana-enhanced arrow struck the bat, causing it to momentarily lose its balance. Seizing the chance, he summoned roots from his hand, entwining the bat and immobilizing it.

With the monster restrained in one hand, he began to channel mana into another. It took him five seconds to summon a colossal fist above the monster’s head. The wooden fist descended with tremendous force, smashing into the captive monster.

Even with this much force, the bat didn’t die because most of the force was absorbed by the root. Activating his mana sense, Thala looked at the monster.

Sigh!

Heaving a sigh of relief, he released all the spells. Within a second, all the wood around the area turned into green particles. Looking at the monster, which was already half dead, a smile appeared on his face.

The monster in front of him had almost been flattened out and was counting its last breath. To put it out of its misery, he fired a wooden spear into its chest.

Before Thala could retrieve the core of the monster, he heard a blood-curdling screech from the right of himself...

’Olivia...’ Forgetting about the core, he dashed toward the right.
