Chapter 188: Weightless
Dhruv couldn’t help but find himself stunned after noticing that almost all the people present in the area were convinced to turn themselves into monsters.
’No... I can’t pin out but there certainly is something wrong with the current situation. I mean how can they believe in me this quickly?’
’I know that everything i said was planned to show only the best part of it and it might be able to convince the muscle heads, but here... here the entire population is convinced... in under ten minutes.’ A frown began to appear on Dhruv’s face.
This was causing him concern because this wasn’t the first time this had happened; there were quite a few more instances where the people on the island had acted out of place. Or, in simple words, they didn’t behave as normal people.
The very first and most prominent of them was that after meeting with him just once, all of them began to address Dhruv as "My lord."
If only the ones from the tribe would behave in such way, then it was understandable because, Lyra and her people came from such a background. A background where they follow one person’s command without questioning them.
But... but how could Dhruv explain these same behaviors from the people of the modern world? If it was forced, then he could understand, but no... there weren’t any rules like this placed upon them. They could act according to their free will as much as they like.
There are a few more actions like this, such as, nowadays the members of the tribe don’t worship their moon goddess. Even Lyra had begun to forget about chanting her name.
The people on the island had far more trust in Dhruv than what should be considered normal...
While Dhruv was thinking about this, he suddenly heard something that broke the train of his thought.
[Master, are you alright?] Alaric’s words rang in his mind.
Understanding that this isn’t the right place to ponder over such things, Dhruv quickly got out of his daze. Turning toward Alaric, he replied, [I’m alright; I was just lost in thoughts.]
Alaric found this answer quite weird, as it was very rare for Dhruv to be lost in his thoughts. But he quickly dismissed this as it was only rare and not impossible. Looking at his master, he quickly nodded and returned to his position.
"So, I see everyone is ready to get turned into a monster. Before becoming a monster, there are a few things that you guys have to know..." Dhruv announced as he looked at the crowd of people in front of him.
After hearing this, everyone nodded, indicating they didn’t have any problem with that. After taking a deep breath, Dhruv began to explain how they would exactly turn into a monster.
He explains what the Mark of Asteri is, he explains the use of the mark.
Dhruv also tells everyone that after turning into a monster, they wouldn’t be able to invest their coins in their stats. Even after this warning, there wasn’t any opposition from the people. The people weren’t practically concerned about this.
And there weren’t any reason for them be concerned either, it’s not like they were earning that much, and with every level, the coins needed to increase the stats were increasing anyway.
After explaining about Mark, Dhruv began to explain how they would evolve. And, to Dhruv’s surprise, most of the people on the island were quite interested in this weird realm Dhruv had mentioned.
Due to this, he ended up wasting another ten minutes explaining about the realm. He was telling them about the realm from his perspective which made it even more interesting.
’Why was my realm not this cool? There were only trees in mine,’ the old man couldn’t help but have these thoughts.
When the fun about the realm had ended, Dhruv told them about being sure to choose a species with Asteri in it. He ended the conference after explaining everything about the manual evolution.
"So, that was everything you need to know about the evolution into a monster," Dhruv said with a smile on his face.
"This sounds so cool... I can’t wait to turn into a monster," a voice appeared.
"Will I be able to become as strong as my lord after evolving into a monster.." Another voice quickly drowned the others.
"Probably not..." Someone beside him answered.
"Am I the only one who is grossed out about eating monsters?" A voice with slight discomfort in its words appeared.
"Aren’t we already eating meats from monsters?" someone reminded her that they were already eating meals made of monster parts.
"Ohhh! You are right."
"Okay, guys, it has already been late night; you should go and rest. Tomorrow morning, I will grant the Mark to every one of you." Even though he enjoyed hearing their conversation, he quickly interjected and suggested they should rest.
Dhruv had also delayed giving marks to everyone because if he were to start giving it from this time, then it would take another hour to two by the time he reached the last person.
Hearing these words, everyone nodded their heads. They were even more eager to get the mark than Dhruv granting them. There was a satisfied smile on every single one of their face.
Looking at the sky which was full of stars a man sighed, "Ohh! I didn’t notice how time flew by... Anyways guys see you tomorrow."
After saying these words the man bowed to Dhruv and began to move out of the area. Seeing him go some began to move out as well. Still, there were quite some people who were unwilling to leave.
"You should go as well." Dhruv pressed once again...
Hearing these words, they didn’t have any choice. After bowing their head to their lord, they began to move toward their house.
Now only few people were left at that place. Looking at the priestess in front of him Dhruv had the urge to call her to ask a question, but ultimately he ignored it and walked towards her.
"Lyra, you should get some sleep as well." After saying these words Dhruv began to move toward his house.
Lyra nodded toward Dhruv recommendation and began to move toward her house as well. Even at this moment istead of accompanying Dhruv Vaxar was with her.
"Shouldn’t you be with My lord." Lyra asked as she noticed the presence of Vexar in font of her.
"No, Alaric had said I should accompanying you until I learn how to behave like a normal person.. Uhhh! Blindfold lady don’t you think that is a bit nonsense. How am I suppose to behave like a normal person when I’m a demon. By the way don’t tell Alaric that I have said his suggestion as nonsense." Vexar mumbelled while glancing at the ground in front of him.
Vexar talking very silently—to the point where it sounds like whispering—as if he was afraid that someone could hear him talk with her.
"You can relax; I’m not going to tell anyone... and to answer your first question, I don’t think your brother, Lord Alaric, had literally meant that..." she pauses to think for a second.
"I think he wants you to act like someone who acts politely, controls own impulses, can be trusted, be responsible... or in short term acts maturely," Lyra said with a smile on her face.
"What does acting maturely eve..." Vexar was about to say something but stopped and quickly prevented Lyra from falling over. She had stumbled onto something.
"Sorry, I wasn’t focusing on you..." Vexar quickly apologized.
"It’s fine," Lyra answered.
Noticing something, she opened her mouth once again, "I don’t think you would need to stay with me that long, my lord," she expressed with a smile on her face.
With how much brain he had, Vexar wasn’t able to understand what she meant by that. He thought it wasn’t worth it to waste his brain cells on pondering this question, so he calmly continued guiding Lyra.
This time he was careful in his duty.
...
"Alaric, don’t you think there was something weird about their behavior?" Dhruv was talking about how the people were acting recently.
"No, I don’t think that, Master. Of course, if you think that there is something weird, then I could try to find that anomaly as soon as possible. Should I act on that?" Alaric replied while following Dhruv.
"No, you don’t have to waste time over this..." Dhruv replied with a smile on his face.
"As you wish, My lord," Alaric stated without any change in his reaction.
"Good night. You guys should go and rest as well," Dhruv suggested as he looked at Azarex and Alaric.
Both of them nodded and began to move out toward their favorite location. Alaric moved into Dhruv’s shadow, while Azarex began to walk toward an area with nothing around it.
Azarex had selected such a remote area to rest because there he would build a massive structure with ice and then rest in it. For some strange reason he love ice and its coldness.
Dhruv quickly reached his room as well. Removing his clothes, he began to get ready to sleep. After freshening up, he slid into the bed and closed his eyes.
Dhruv didn’t know why, but during sleep, he felt as if he had lost some weight. He felt as if something that had been pressing him had lifted.
