Chapter 176: Equalizer Rune

Vexar was busy fighting a hoard of goblins when he suddenly heard a sentence form in his mind. It didn’t take long for Vexar to realize whose words it was.

[You can go and handle the boss, Vexar.] He was hearing the sound of his master ringing in his head.

The moment he heard these words, a smile appeared on his face as he was very eager to fight the boss of this village, he was about to say his thank you but stooped when he remembered something

Controlling his tone of expression he replied, [Are you sure, Master? Shouldn’t you be the one to take down the boss to earn more exp and evolve further?]

Vexar was glad that his brothers had found some time to teach him about the basic etiquette, or else he would be nothing but a sword-loving demon, not that he disliked that title or anything like that.

But even for a sword-loving demon a basic sense of etiquette is important, that was the exact word Azarex had told him.

[No, you can take this one out.] Vexar heard the reply coming from the other side of the connection.

[Thank you, Master.] This time he didn’t hesitate and quickly replied.

After replying, he wasn’t in the mood to fight these normal goblins anymore, so he began to move out from the horde in search of the boss. Imagining himself fighting the boss, he started moving toward...

’Where is the boss monster? I can’t see him.’ Vexar suddenly realized as he was about to take a step toward the boss.

He turned his head around in all directions to find the goblin Shaman, but all his efforts came out as naught as he couldn’t find anything.

Knowing that he wouldn’t be able to find the boss on his own, he connected with the most knowledgeable person he knew.

[Master, I can’t find the boss. Can you see it?] there was a slight embarrassment in his words.

There was a silence on the connection for a few seconds, after the silence a sentence formed in his head once again.

[Have you not bought the skill like mana sense?] Instead of his answer, a question came his way from the other side.

Hearing the question, Vexar panicked for a second but calmed down when realizing that Dhruv was just asking a question and nothing else. He couldn’t remember all of his skills, so he had to open his status to check if he had ever learned a skill like that.

After a few seconds of searching, he found that there wasn’t any skill like that in his status. He focused on the connection, which was still on, and said,

[No, Master, I don’t have a skill like that.]

[Why am I not surprised.] After pausing for a second, Dhruv continued, [Go toward the center of the village where you would find a hut with a dome. You can find the boss in that hut.]

[Thank you, my Lord, once again.] While saying these words, Vexar began sprinting towards the middle of the village in search of the boss monster.

He managed to find the hut, but he quickly realized that the number of monsters protecting the way toward the hut was more than he had thought.

Vexar wasn’t disheartened by this fact, nor was he afraid; instead, he was happy that on this floor, the number of monsters he could fight was at least much more than he had thought.

Despite their numerical advantage, the horde didn’t even manage to delay Vexar for more than two minutes. Before the end of the third minute, Vexar was already standing in front of the Shaman’s house, or hut to be more precise.

Crack...

Vexar was about to walk toward it when he noticed that he had stepped onto something fragile. Instinctively, his gaze turned toward the bottom of his feet, and there he noticed that he had stepped onto some kind of bone.

The bone was so fragile that a mere step was enough to crush it into tiny powder. Vexar lifted his face and was about to enter the house when something weird began to happen.

Something under his feet began to shine with a crimson color. He noticed that around him, a weird circle had just popped up and was glowing. There were many weird patterns on the circle that he couldn’t recognize.

Vexar didn’t know it, but he had just walked into one of the many Shaman’s rune traps. This trap was set by the boss in case anyone were to come to his hut without his permission.

Vexar tried to get out of the runic circle, but all his attempts were in vain as he couldn’t even move his body one bit. Suddenly, the entire circle began to shine with a red color, and a second later, he began to feel that something was wrong with his body.

The circle was draining him of his strength bit by bit. He was getting weaker with each passing second.

This runic circle was also one of the advanced spells from the Shaman’s magic affinity. The affinity that all the Shaman’s class have is called ritual magic.

This magic works slightly differently from the normal conventional type of magic. Any spells from ritual magic either have two or more two steps involved in them or a certain incantation for the magic to happen.

In this case, the magic that had been used on Vexar was called the [Equalizer Rune]. After getting trapped in the rune the strength of the victim will become equal to that of the caster, simple as that.

Actually, this spell was more complex than what met the eye, but the Shaman could use this thing only for this purpose at his level.

After a while, that weird feeling went away.

’Why had I gotten this weak? Is this because of this rune?’ Vexar was about to question this when something attacked him from inside the house.

Fling!

With a swift strike, Vexar deflected the dart that had been thrown in his way. Although his strength had decreased, it wasn’t at the stage where he couldn’t deflect a mere dart.
