Chapter 163: Old Man’s Evolution [Part-2]
Two humans appeared in front of a magical portal. The expression of one was normal, while the other’s expression was that of shock.
’Huh! How did I suddenly arrive here?’ the old man thought as he looked at the portal in front of him.
’Did we just teleport? No, there was some time delay, and we were traveling through some dark area’ the old man concluded as he remembered traveling through a place where there was nothing but darkness.
’Sigh! These Lord Guardians are surely in a league of their own,’ the old man thought. While he was thinking about this, he suddenly had a crazy idea.
’Will I also be this strong after evolving?’ The old man couldn’t help but think about himself defeating a goblin boss on his own.
Quickly getting out of his thoughts, the old man looked at the portal in front of him and walked into it. He blacked out for a few seconds before regaining his senses.
As his vision cleared he found that almost every place on the island was covered with undead; they were moving from one place to another doing all sorts of laborious work.
The old man suddenly shivered a little when an undead Crystallce passed him. He suddenly found out that this guardian wasn’t that bad and tried to walk toward him. As he tried to lean in guardian’s direction he suddenly noticed that Alaric wasn’t standing there.
The old man looked in front of him and found that Alaric was already walking in a particular direction. Not wanting to meet another undead while also being alone, he quickly began to follow Alaric.
They quickly found Azarex, who was supervising his undead. All the undead were busy building the warehouse.
The old man was once again surprised was the speed at which they were building these things. It hadn’t been that long and the warehouse was almost one-third complete.
’They sure are efficient in their work,’ the old man couldn’t help but praise the undead lord in his mind.
Azarex noticed Alaric’s arrival, he quickly looked towards the due and asked,
"What brings you here, do you need anything?"
"Azarex, Master had told us that this one is going to evolve, and you have to protect his egg until he is fully evolved," Alaric got straight to the point.
"Okay! No problem" Finding out that this was the lord’s order, Azarex didn’t ask anything else and looked directly at the old man before him.
"Are you ready, or do you need some time?" Azarex asked with a smile on his face.
"Yes, I need to invest some coins in my stats before starting the evolution," the old man said as he remembered Dhruv’s warning that he couldn’t invest his coins into stats after evolution.
"Okay, how many coins do you have, and how much time do you need?" Azarex asked curiously.
"I have around 200k CC, and I don’t exactly know how much time it would take me to invest my coins in the stat," the old man replied, while also trying to calculate the exact time it would take to invest all the coins.
Before he could calculate to give the exact amount of time, he suddenly heard Alaric’s question, making him forget all the calculations.
With a forced smile, he looked at the eldest guardian.
"Why do you need that much time to invest coins? Can’t you do that in one go?" Alaric couldn’t help but ask Ewen.
"If I invest all the coins in one go, I don’t think I can handle the pain, and it’s not just about pain; maybe after increasing the stats so much in one go, something bad could happen to my body. That is the reason why I try to invest only two levels worth of coins in one go, if the situation isn’t threatening," the old man explained his reason for investing the coins slowly.
"Hmmm, quite interesting," Azarex thought aloud as he listened to the old man’s words.
’Should I force him to invest all the coins in one go to see what bad could happen to him? Of course, this is all for further knowledge about the human body,’ the undead lord couldn’t help but think.
While Azarex was thinking of many different experiments, Alaric suddenly said something.
"Why don’t you invest all the coins in one go? After all, you wouldn’t have a body to feel the pain."
The old man got confused and opened his mouth to speak, "Sorry, but I don’t think I understand what you mean."
"What I mean is, just after investing all your coins, you can click the ’Yes’ button on the evolution menu. After clicking that, you will turn into something and will be surrounded by an egg. I’m sure after becoming an egg, you won’t feel any pain," Alaric explained how things work to the old man.
"Ohhh! Very good plan indeed," Azarex said as he looked at Alaric.
"Is it?" The old man still wasn’t convinced, but when he looked at their faces, he felt that it shouldn’t be that dangerous.
"Okay, let’s go with this plan," the old man sighed.
"Okay, then let’s go to your place. You have a house, right?" Alaric asked.
"Yes, I have a house," the old man said.
The houses were given by taking into consideration who had children along with them or not. The old man happened to have two grandchildren, which resulted in him getting a house early on.
"Okay, let’s go then," the old man and Azarex began to walk toward the house, while Alaric returned to the portal once again.
Alaric wanted to drop all the corpses in the warehouses, but they weren’t still built, so he was carrying them along with him at the moment.
After walking for a while, the old man, Azarex, and a few undead who were going to keep an eye on him finally reached the old man’s house.
"So, are they going to stop here?" The old man asked as he looked at Azarex and then his undead. Looking at the size of the undead, he was sure that they wouldn’t fit inside the house.
"No, they wouldn’t come with us. They would surround your house to not let anyone enter the building," Azarex explained.
"Ohh! Okay. Shall we go then," the old man signaled as he began to walk toward his bedroom.
After reaching the bedroom, the old man removed his clothes and sat down in the lotus position. There wasn’t any benefit to sitting in this position, but he did it anyway.
After getting comfortable, he looked at the undead lords and gave a thumbs-up.
Taking a deep breath, he opened his status and thought of investing all his coins in Magic Power. The moment he thought of this, a confirmation notification popped up in front of him.
[Do you want to invest 213K CC in Magic power?]
[Yes/No]
The old man didn’t have the courage to lift his hand, so he directly gave his affirmative by nodding his head. The system took that as a yes and invested all the old man’s coins in magic power.
"Ugghhh!"
The old man cried out as a very strong pain began to surge through his body. As a rection of an immediate increase in his magic power, his body began to glow.
’O-oohhh! G...God, w-why is it burning,’ the old man thought as his body began to heat up.
Due to the intense pain, he slowly began to lose his ability to think properly. He even forgot to open the evolution page because of the pain.
Looking at the glowing human in front of him, Azarex instantly understood that something was wrong. He quickly opened his mouth and shouted.
"Use evolution, start the evolution, or else I’m sure you will die due to mana overload," Azarex said as he inspected the old man’s condition.
The moment he said that he noticed that a layer of wood began to generate around the old man. Within ten seconds, the old man was entirely covered by a layer of wood.
"Hmmm! So his egg is made out of wood. Does that mean at Tier Ⅲ evolution, your egg will be made of your affinity material?" Azarex thought as he concluded.
He remembered that during Dhruv’s evolution, his egg was also made of metal with a mix of fire and illusion as well. The same was true with their evolution at tier Ⅲ.
Azarex also noted a fact that during the second evolution, only the color of the eggs changes to match the appropriate affinity. The eggshell was still made up of calcium.
He was also eager to know what would happen during the fourth evolution...
Looking at the egg, which was safe and secure, Azarex quickly made some rounds inside the house to check if there was anything that could harm him. After figuring out that there was no such threat, he got out of the old man’s house.
Looking at the undead who were standing in front of the door, Azarex ordered them not to let anyone enter the house unless he had given them an order.
There was no response from the undead, but Azarex knew the task had been fulfilled. After completing Dhruv’s orders, Azarex began to walk towards the warehouse.
....
In a realm filled with nothing but trees, plants, grass, and greenery, an old man suddenly appeared in this realm.
He looked around curiously to fully see the beauty of the realm. While he was enjoying the view, suddenly something interrupted his viewing.
[These are your options for evolution...]
