Chapter 139: CHI

Even after following the group of goblins for three minutes, he didn’t do anything. When they finally reached almost 50 meters away from the village, he attacked them by trapping the goblins in a metal box.

Dum! Dum!

The sound of goblins beating the box rang throughout the area, but there was no one there to protect or save them. Dhruv quietly lifted the box from the ground with the help of magic and let it follow him.

He was moving the goblins because he didn’t have plans to start his experiment there. After walking for a while, he finally reached a place he had already prepared.

The area in front of him was quite unique. First of all, there was a giant hole, 20 meters wide and 10 meters deep, in the ground.

The hole was deep enough so, that the goblins couldn’t escape from it. For whatever reason it was divided into two parts as well.

The second unique feature was the presence of two proteger sweet apple trees very close to that hole. Dhruv had purposely chosen this location because of the availability of these apple trees, as they were an important part of his experiment.

As for how he had managed to dig that big hole in such a short amount of time, he had used earth and fire magic to make the ground devoid of any moisture and then scooped it out with the help of metal magic.

Dhruv threw the goblins into the hole, but he didn’t start the experiment right away. Instead, he walked back toward the village. After waiting for a few more minutes, another group of goblins emerged.

He kidnapped this group of goblins as well and threw them into the hole. He continued to do this again and again, and after three hours of hard work, he had almost 100 goblins packed into the hole.

Fifty were on one side of the hole, while the other fifty were on the other side.

Finally satisfied with the number of goblins, Dhruv jumped into one side of the hole. The moment he landed, he surrounded himself with a metal layer so the goblins couldn’t attack him. He sticks to the west side of the wall and looks at the fifty-or-something goblin.

He had left an opening in front of his mouth and said the words,

"CHI." "CHI." "CHI."

He had built a small cylinder-shaped object that amplified his voice, causing it to ring throughout the left side of the hole.

The moment he said the word, all the goblins’ attention was captured, and they began to focus on his metal wall.

While they were focusing on the wall in front of them, something suddenly changed. The soil that had been soft and warm just a moment ago beneath their feet transformed into something hard and cold.

The soil below their feet had turned into metal. This transformation was achieved with the help of Dhruv’s Mana Infusion skill. He had infused a layer of metal on top of the soil.

Observing this, all the goblins panicked once again, but they were unable to do anything. Anticipating something, they stared at the wall in front of them.

To their surprise, nothing happened, or to be exact, nothing happened in front of them. However, the same couldn’t be said for the cold-hard metal below their feet.

Dhruv began to heat the metal sheet slowly. Goblins began to lift their feet in the air to protect themselves from the heat, but they were forced to put them down.

They tried to run into the far corner, but that didn’t bring any relief either. Every part of the ground was hot. In just a few seconds, cries of pain began to reverberate in the area.

Growl! Screech! Hooo!

Some goblins were growling, some were screeching, while others used different sounds to express their pain. They used various expressions to show their suffering, but one thing was clear – they were in pain.

Dhruv was waiting for this exact moment. When he heard the sounds of their cries, he opened his mouth once again and began to repeat one word over and over again...

"CHI." "CHI." "CHI." "CHI."

Dhruv was continuously repeating the same word over and over again as if he was trying to achieve something. But to his disappointment, his words didn’t have any effect on the goblins.

Seeing that there wasn’t any result, he paused for a second to let them have a moment of peace. After waiting for a few seconds, he once again began to heat the metal, and this time he had even increased the temperature by a few more degrees.

Growl! Screech! Hooo! Screech!

The cries of pain once again reverberated in the available little area.

He began to repeat the same word once again. After a minute of doing that, he achieved... nothing. Giving them a few seconds to rest, he raised the temperature of the metal sheet once more.

Yet nothing happened. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

After three more tries, he finally noticed a difference. When this time the wave of heat passed through the metal, their cries were the same, yet different at the same time.

Growl! Screech! Hooo! Screech! Chi! Chi!

Instead of their usual cries, some of them had used the word "CHI," to show their pain, which Dhruv had been saying for the past five minutes.

"Phew! Finally, a change. I had feared that this experiment was as good as dead before even starting," he thought in his mind.

To reward them for finally saying the word, he lowered the temperature by one to two degrees. After rewarding them, he began the process once again.

After continuously doing this for ten minutes, the result finally came. As the wave of heat passed through the metal sheet, a wave of cries followed as well.

Chi! Chi! Chi! Chi! Chi! Chi!...

Everyone continued to say the same word, and Dhruv was satisfied. However, he didn’t stop there; he continued for another five minutes to ensure the word would become ingrained in their minds.

When he was finally satisfied with this, he gave them a few animal corpses to eat, which he had caught, and then moved to the second part of the hole.

Looking at the hole from above, like a lord Dhruv whispers,

"Now it’s time to learn a new word."
