Chapter 30: Solar Crucible Method!

They passed through a long alloy corridor, and Kaia brought Joren to the fourth underground floor.

The elevator doors had barely opened when a wave of heat rushed at them, mixed with the smell of sweat and hormones.

The huge space had been divided into dozens of independent transparent chambers.

In some chambers, gravity twisted. The people inside had veins bulging all over their bodies as they struggled through push ups.

In others, lasers crisscrossed the space, and figures dodged madly through dense red lines. One careless move would burn the skin.

Farther away, massive hydraulic machines had been set up. Awakened Warriors were using bare hands to resist mechanical arms weighing several tons.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Dull impacts echoed without end, mixed with the roars of Awakened Warriors pushing themselves to exhaustion.

Kaia pointed at the sweat drenched figures.

"You sweat here so you bleed less in the wilderness."

Joren swept his gaze across the area, a sharp light passing through his eyes.

Training facilities of this level could not be accessed outside even with money.

Especially that gravity chamber.

The two entered an empty advanced Training Chamber.

This chamber was twice the size of the ones outside. A highly precise testing device stood in the center, while the walls on all sides were made of special alloy. Blade marks of various depths covered them.

"Wait here."

Kaia left those words behind and leaned against the doorway.

Less than two minutes later, hurried footsteps came from outside.

"Coming, coming!"

Alar’s voice arrived before he did.

He and Jazz ran in together.

Jazz held a sealed metal case in his hands, his expression so serious it looked as if he were carrying a bomb.

Alar carried a thick thread bound book. There was even a faint scent of fresh ink on the cover.

"Captain. Joren."

Jazz walked up to Joren and carefully opened the metal case.

Hiss.

White cold mist spread out.

Inside the case lay an ancient yellowed manual.

The strokes on the cover were sharp as blades, as if they had cut through the paper.

[Solar Crucible Method]!

"This is what you need."

Kaia stepped forward, her fingertips lightly brushing across the pages.

"The strongest foundation method recognized throughout the Aurelian Dominion. Ordinary body tempering methods can only develop thirty percent of the human body’s potential. This one can develop it to the limit, one hundred percent."

Joren drew in a deep breath and reached out to take the heavy manual.

The moment it entered his hand, a strange sensation spread from his palm through his whole body.

In his mind, the system prompt rang without warning.

[Ding!]

[Detected recordable method: Solar Crucible Method]

[Record?]

"Record."

Joren calmly closed the book.

"Thanks."

Kaia took the thread bound book from Alar and threw it to Joren.

"Besides internal training, you need external killing skill."

"[Solar Crucible Method] is for breaking through your realm. This one is for killing people."

Joren caught the book.

On the cover were the words [Antares Bladecraft], carrying a strong air of slaughter.

"This is the standard Bladecraft of Antares Command."

"No fancy moves. Only nine slashes."

"Every slash is a killing technique summarized by countless predecessors from piles of corpses."

Kaia explained.

[Ding!]

[Detected martial art: Antares Bladecraft]

[Record?]

"Record."

Joren did not hesitate.

The data on the panel refreshed at once.

[Host: Joren]

[Mental Force: 100 Rank One Psionic Master]

[Combat Rank: Mortal 20/20]

[Bloodstars: 160]

[Combat Arts: Solar Crucible Method 0/100; Antares Bladecraft 0/80]

On the panel, the original Basic Body Tempering and Basic Bladecraft had been replaced.

"You have what you need."

Kaia checked the time and turned with her usual efficiency.

"Come on. I am taking you to meet someone."

"Who?"

Joren put away the two manuals.

"Your combat instructor."

A complicated look passed through Kaia’s eyes.

The fifth underground floor.

Compared with the floors above, this place was much quieter. Almost gloomy.

The enormous training ground was empty. Only a dim yellow spotlight shone at the very center.

Under the light sat a man.

The first thing anyone would notice was his left sleeve, empty and swaying slightly with the breeze.

He held a barrel of liquor in one hand and was tipping his head back, pouring strong alcohol into his mouth.

Even from dozens of meters away, Joren could feel the air of decay coming from him.

"Corren."

Kaia brought Joren closer, her voice softening by a rare degree.

The man paused and slowly lowered the liquor barrel.

He turned his head.

It was a face covered in scars. A hideous claw mark stretched from the corner of his left eye all the way to his chin, twisting his smile into something rough and crooked.

"So this is the rookie you shoved at me? Tender skin and soft meat."

The man burped and swept his drunken eyes over Joren.

Joren did not speak.

He only watched him quietly.

From this man, he sensed an extremely dangerous aura.

"His name is Corren. Former captain of Antares Command First Battalion. A peak Rank Three Awakened Warrior. Five years ago, during an S class Beast Tide, he lost an arm covering his teammates’ retreat, and his realm fell."

"Now he is the chief instructor here."

Kaia introduced him to Joren.

Corren gave a mocking snort and waved his hand.

"What chief instructor? Just a cripple eating and waiting to die."

He swayed to his feet.

In that instant, the decay around him vanished.

What replaced it was pressure as heavy as a mountain.

This wounded tiger still had fangs that could tear people apart.

Joren’s Mental Force sensed that Corren’s realm was about the same as Jazz and Alar, but below Kaia. Roughly Rank Two.

Yet the aura on him was even more violent than Kaia’s.

Boom!

An invisible murderous force swept out from Corren and flooded the entire fifth underground floor.

Joren felt prickling pain across his skin, as if countless steel needles had pressed against him.

Under the pressure, Joren kept his back straight.

His gaze met Corren’s without moving away.

Corren narrowed his muddy eye and looked Joren up and down.

"Interesting."

He sat back down, took another drink from the jug, and returned to that half ruined look.

Pointing at Joren, he spoke lazily.

"Good seedling. Realm is too low, though."

Kaia did not argue.

"That is why I brought him to you."

She looked at Corren seriously.

"Antares Command has rules. New members must pass the basic assessment before they can take field missions."

"Joren, he is your examiner."

"You can come on missions with me only when Corren nods."

Joren glanced at Corren, who was picking at his foot.

"What is the standard?"

Corren grinned and raised two fingers.

"Simple."

"Survive ten moves under my hand."
