Chapter 33: Plan for Storm eater
As the crystallizing blood of the Storm Eater Leviathan dived downward, a blinking pillar of lightning fell from the sky, detonating the crystal into bits and powder, scattering it through the air. This process lit up the sky for a brief moment. It appeared as if someone had ignited fireworks.
The scenery was absolutely breathtaking.
While enjoying the absurd beauty in front of him, Cole also kept his eyes on the two monsters. Their movements could decide his life and death. As he watched, he noticed their strange behavior. After that pained roar, the two leviathans seemed to have started retreating. Seemingly, the two had suffered mutual injuries.
Once he noticed this, Cole’s heartbeat automatically started to rise. The thoughts that had surged just a moment ago came stronger than ever.
After taking a drop of the healing potion, he turned to look at the two Summers siblings at the back.
Once he confirmed that the two were safe, he started moving ahead, intending to leave the two behind. He felt no guilt for his actions. After all, he was not here as their bodyguard, but simply two travelers who had the same destination in mind.
"Moreover, I have already done more than enough..."
Cole muttered under his breath as the scene from the past battle flashed through his head. It was clear the two siblings had shown kindness to him, but he had also done more than enough to repay it back.
Cole had just taken his first step when he heard Ethan’s voice from the back.
"Hey, where are you going?! If you leave..."
Ethan’s face was slightly livid. Without realizing it, he had come to take Cole’s protection for granted. Not even for a moment had the thought that Cole would abandon them crossed his mind. So when he finally saw Cole leaving, Ethan reacted furiously.
However, contrary to his sharp words, Cole’s steps did not even pause, much less did he reply.

"You...!"
This sudden disregard made Ethan even more furious. He wanted to give chase when Jessica’s voice reached his ears.
"Enough! Let him go! Since when did we start relying on others?"
Jessica’s words were like a bucket of ice-cold water poured over his head, instantly calming Ethan’s anger. Once calm, he realized Cole had no obligation to protect them.
Although most of the destructive energy from the lightning bolts was directed back into the atmosphere with the help of the formation, the repeated damage from the lightning barrage had started to take a toll on her body regardless.
Thinking up to this point, Jessica’s long slender eyebrows got tightly furrowed together. A slightly worried look appeared on her face as she muttered lightly under her breath,
"I don’t know what happened, but the lightning doesn’t seem as effective as before..."
Ethan also came closer. By now the two siblings had completely ignored Cole.
He noticed the worried look on his elder sister’s face and could not help but ask,
"What is it, elder sister?"
Ethan sounded slightly confused. The Storm Eater Leviathan, that terrifying being, had already left. Now what was causing his sister to worry?
Thinking up to this point, Cole’s image flashed through his mind.
Surely it could not be because of that guy.
Just as this thought popped into his head, he hurriedly shook his head to get rid of it. There was no way his elder sister would worry about such a thing.
Just as he was thinking, he heard Jessica speak once more.

"Ethan, start moving. We need to move deeper into the Thunder Domain. The lightning here is not effective anymore."
Without questioning, Ethan did as he was told, taking the chariot deeper. Without even realizing it, the direction they chose was the same as Cole’s.
...
Meanwhile, a few kilometers away from the two siblings, Cole picked up one of the blue crystals scattered on the ground, eagerly rubbing its surface with a thoughtful look.
"A.I. chip, scan this crystal for bloodline samples..."
[Processing request. Test complete. The blood crystal is of extremely high quality. Only 0.009% of the original is available for extraction.]
"That was too low..."
Cole immediately voiced out his thoughts. With this little data, forming a complete bloodline potion was not feasible.
"I have come this far. There is no way I will give up this easily."
"A.I. chip, create a new file named Storm Eater Leviathan Bloodline Records, and save whatever data you can mine from this crystal into that file."
[Request accepted. File created.]
[New entry added.]
[Mana Monster Storm Eater Leviathan Bloodline Records — 0.009%]
After witnessing the leviathan’s act of devouring the violent lightning storm, a switch had been flipped inside Cole’s brain.
If the Storm Eater could devour natural lightning to strengthen itself, could it also devour the lightning generated by the Lightning Worm bloodline?

If he could somehow fuse the Lightning Worm and Storm Eater Leviathan bloodlines, the Storm Eater would devour the lightning and strengthen the body, while the Lightning Worm would generate lightning and the Storm Eater would devour it, creating an endless cycle that could continue strengthening the body.
Just thinking about getting stronger without doing anything excited Cole a little bit.
Once this thought had appeared in his mind, it continued to grow deeper and deeper. He completely forgot about the challenge that fusing two bloodlines would pose.
First, he needed to collect complete bloodline data. The rest would come later.
However, just as he was about to pick another blue crystal to scan, he noticed the shadow of someone approaching closer.
Just as he was about to grab it, the crystal flew in a direct curve toward someone else.
Raising his head and following that direction, Cole saw a group of three older middle-aged men standing still. The eyes of two of them were on the crystal in the middle-aged man’s hand. For a moment, a look of burning greed appeared in their eyes.
"We have struck it rich, boss! This is a bloodline crystal of a pure mana beast. We can easily make a fortune by selling it in the city..."
"To think we would strike fortune in such a cursed place... truly the heavens are fair. When they close one door, they open another..."
Cole’s eyes sharpened as he scanned the three in front of him. Torn clothes, long dirty hair, and wild tattoos on their faces made the three look like gangsters. One look and Cole realized who they were.
The scum of society.
While the Thunder Domain might be a dangerous place, it was also a safe haven for all the wanted criminals who could no longer stay in cities.
