Chapter 27: Just like my elder sister
"At this rate, reaching the Thunder Domain in time will be difficult."
Those words had barely left his mouth when he suddenly noticed violent fluctuations in the air. Feeling surprised, he hurriedly got up and looked out of the small window, and a shocked exclamation left his mouth.
"What in the world?!"
Cole’s eyes were wide as saucers.
Outside, the red gooey liquid glowed as if the sun was shining directly on it. Countless unfamiliar runes emerged from the ground, creating a carpet-like structure on the surface. Following this, the earth solidified, allowing the chariot to pass through without stopping.
A formation...!
After looking for some time, Cole realized what was going on. Someone had unleashed a giant formation to rapidly cool the marshy ground surface to create a solid path, allowing the chariot to pass through without slowing down.
Once he realized what was happening, the shock that Cole felt increased even more. A formation of such a scale required the combined effort of multiple formation masters.
He looked around, his eyes trying to find a team of heavily trained formation masters, but no matter how much he looked, he could not find anything.
Just then, his gaze turned to the forefront of the carriage, where a young girl stood still with an indifferent expression, her hands spread out. Beneath her feet was a formation circle pulsing rhythmically like a living entity.

Jessica Summers...
Cole muttered in shock. It was none other than the girl who looked about the same age as him casting this massive formation. From the looks of it, it did not seem difficult for her at all.
Then his gaze turned to Ethan, who stood still with an awed expression on his face. Both of his hands were holding mana potion bottles, ready to help at any time.
The gears in Cole’s head turned. He finally realized why Jessica had shown little to no reaction when the bandits had attacked them earlier. It seemed she was already prepared to deal with them.
Cole did not say anything. After taking another look, he simply sat down, waiting for the A.I. chip simulation to finish.
A million simulations were a lot. If he had still been on Earth with the A.I. chip’s limited calculating abilities, it might have taken days, if not months. But now, with increased calculating abilities, he needed to wait just one day.
Even with Jessica doing her best, it was going to take some time to reach the Thunder Domain. By the morning of the next day, Cole felt the changes. Gone was the forest that had surrounded them. Their scenery was replaced by burning wasteland. There was still some distance until they reached the Thunder Domain, yet even Cole could feel thousands of lightning strikes raining down from the sky like a storm.
Just as he was thinking, Ethan’s voice came from ahead.
"Dear customer, you better stay alert. Even though there is considerable distance, there have been multiple cases in the past where storms expanded outward, killing everyone who was not prepared."
Ethan warned in a slightly measured tone. If before Cole had just been a customer in his eyes, now things had changed. Once he saw Cole in action, Cole had become someone he could rely on for protection.
Under the eyes of both of them, Jessica got to work once more. Out of nowhere, multiple chains of runes wrapped around the chariot in tight formations that twisted and turned. Ethan saw Cole looking around curiously and explained in a calm tone,
"This is elder sister’s greatest creation, the Thunder-Catching Formation. Using the materiality that can resist to a great degree, this formation can reduce the damage of lightning by up to ninety-nine percent..."
Cole listened to this explanation without interrupting, the admiration he felt for the young girl in his heart growing enormously.
This was a genius...!
If such a person were armed with something like an A.I. chip, how far would they be able to progress?
Cole could not even begin to imagine.
He was not arrogant just because he had the A.I. chip. Cole was someone who was very familiar with his own capabilities. He was not stupid, but he did not have the natural ability to match geniuses like Jessica.
Of course, Cole did not let these thoughts get to his head. In the end, no matter whether it was intelligence or anything else that led to success, consistency mattered most. Even if he had the A.I. chip, if he was not consistent enough, one day he was going to bite the dust.
He had to be consistent in his efforts, making use of every opportunity that he got...!
His thoughts had barely reached this point when suddenly he felt a terrifying surge from within. Out of nowhere, electric current that was at least dozens of times stronger than before emerged from deep within Cole’s blood, almost evaporating the fresh blood flowing through his veins. His vision almost blacked out.
"Argh!"
Cole grabbed his chest and puked a mouthful of blood. Mixed in the blood were smoke steam and particles of burnt flesh.
The commotion was so great and sudden that both Summers siblings turned to look at Cole, a confused look flashing in Ethan’s eyes.

He hurriedly moved closer to Cole and asked with genuine concern what had just happened.
However, before he could get close, Cole raised his head, signaling him to stay away.
By now his condition had slightly recovered. Cole wiped the blood flowing from the corner of his mouth and muttered while gritting his teeth,
"It’s not a big deal. It’s just my old disease acting up... It seems I would need to hurry and find all the ingredients as fast as possible."
"Old disease? I understand, I understand. You are just like my elder sister—"
Before he could continue speaking, a cold snort came from behind him.
Immediately, Ethan’s mouth snapped shut.
Hearing those words, Cole thought shifted.
Just like his elder sister..!
Could it be.... A possibility flashed in his mind.
