Chapter 142: Logan’s Help
The dungeon was a place at the school that had just as many rumors behind it as mysteries, which was to say... it had a lot of them.
Erin had heard a few of these herself, pretty much everyone at the school did, and none of them were pleasant. The rumors ranged from torture, losing your ability, life imprisonment, unethical science experiments and more. Any student who had somehow left the dungeon came back changed, no longer their usual selves.
So to hear that she was potentially in this dreadful place was beyond what she had expected. With so many rumors regarding the dungeon, it left Erin with the horror of not knowing which one was going to happen to her.
"Do you know how long I’m going to be here?" Erin carefully asked the hooded man.
He sighed, "I don’t know. I’m just here to do my job."
Erin took a step back, determined. To test something, she decided to ask him a question.
"Don’t you care that I might be framed?"
"Again," The man emphasized, "I’m just doing my job."
Then, he disappeared, leaving Erin in the room.
—
{Erin} Quinn, find Layla, and get to Logan.
{Erin} He’s the only one that can clear my name.

After defeating Mono, these were the messages that Quinn received from the chat tab.
’I’m sure that Layla will come to the same conclusion,’ Quinn hoped, and ran to the first year dorms.
Thankfully, he still remembered when Logan told both him and Erin where his room was back when they first met.
When he arrived at the VIP floor, he knew he was at the right place as Layla was there as well, having the same idea.
"Do you think he’ll help?" Quinn asked.
"Well," she kissed her teeth, "He did say that he didn’t care for Erin specifically, but the system within her. He also said that he wasn’t going to dissect and take her away, so..."
"Right," Quinn grimaced.
Not a moment later, the door opened, and the two stepped inside. Since it was Quinn’s first time here, he slowly walked in, taking in the sight.
"Is this the right place?" Quinn asked.
Layla opened her mouth when a short green haired boy on a bed to the side of them spoke sooner.
Logan rubbed his eyes as he yawned, "I believe you two are visiting for Erin’s armor, correct?"
"Erin is in trouble!" Layla blurted out.
Despite the sudden news, Logan didn’t seem taken aback, and instead placed his hands on a backpack that sat on his nightstand. Quinn recognized it as the same bag that held his spiders from when the two first met.
"Hmm, this is troublesome," Logan spoke.
Both Layla’s and Quinn’s hearts sank.
"What did you see?" Quinn asked.
"Well, you are correct that she is in trouble as I am struggling to locate her."
Layla tilted her head, "Locate?"
"I installed a simple tracking software on Erin’s watch a while back," Logan explained, "However, it appears that whatever place she’s in must be deep underground, otherwise I would’ve detected the signal."

"Isn’t there anything we can do to help?"
Hopping off the bed, Logan got onto his advanced chair which automatically slid towards his main computer.
Logan leaned back, "You can begin by explaining to me everything you know."
After quickly explaining all the details, like Mono getting involved, Erin’s ability, suspicion that she’s an agent of Pure, and that they should get Fex involved, Logan was already devising a plan.
"If Mono is involved then it can’t be good," Quinn said.
Then Layla added, "Even though she hasn’t used her old ability, it shouldn’t make them believe that she’s part of Pure."
Placing his hands on his computer, the device turned on with numbers and letters running on the screen. When looking at what was going on, they saw that Logan was creating documents, files, messages, and more.
"What are you doing?" Layla asked.
"Getting into contact with Fex, while also creating a few documents," Logan began, "If I say Erin is under the protection of the Green family, which, she should be, then I may convince the military to let her go."
"But how will you explain her ability?" Quinn brought up.
"That is what the documents are for. These are trademarks for an experimental ’drug’ on MC," Logan explained, "They’re not real, of course, but it may convince the military that Erin’s ability has been temporarily ’blocked.’"
"Temporary?" Layla said, "So you mean—?!"
"Correct. This will only buy her a small amount of time at the school," Logan calmly stated, "She may need to be relocated to one of my mansions to ensure that she’s truly under my protection."
"How long do you think this lie will last?" Quinn asked.
Logan took his hands off of the computer, "I’d say about a month, give or take."
Quinn and Layla turned to look at each other. It wasn’t a perfect solution, but it was all they had.
Then, Layla returned to Logan, "How will you make sure they listen to you?"
"Easy, the Green family is the one directly responsible for a lot of their tech," Then Logan added, "And we make generous donations to them. If they do not listen, then it will come at a major risk to their weaponry."
At that moment, Quinn was beginning to appreciate having someone with connections on his side.

—
Nathan’s office was a rather unkempt place, but unlike its owner who wore his uniform informally, it was a mess from all the paperwork the General had to do.
Nathan was sitting in his swivel chair, while Duke stood on the opposite side of his desk, the two arguing.
"Her records briefly stated a level 1 before returning to a 5. The only people who would have that kind of technical skill would be Pure," Duke began.
"While that may be true, her watch ultimately said a 5," Nathan explained, "They were made by the Green family themselves, and record the active MC count of a person, so clearly she still has MC. If someone were to try to hack the numbers, then we would be alerted to any tampering, which has not happened with Erin Heley."
Duke growled, "Well, how else would you explain it? We know damn well that Truedream didn’t visit, and our technology could always get outmatched."
Nathan leaned back in his chair, pinching his nose.
"I don’t know what’s going on, but I’ll call our scientists to come over and have them figure out her MC."
Duke was about to say something, when Nathan got an audible notification from his computer. Clicking on the mouse to turn on the monitor, they both saw it was a message coming from one of their major funders.
"What could they want?" Duke barked.
Clicking open the message, Nathan’s eyes widened, and he twisted the monitor around so Duke could see it himself.
"It’s from the Green family," Nathan exclaimed, "Apparently, we messed with a blind study of theirs."
