Chapter 131: Just A Misunderstanding

Two days after the incident the night Ethan nearly attacked Arcane, Kyle ran into his coworker again at school since the previous day had been a weekend.

Actually, he’d intended to apologize the day before by going to Arcane’s house. However, he felt hesitant to do so, so he decided to apologize at school when they met.

"Arcane," he called out, causing the red haired man to turn toward him.

Now his gaze seemed colder than usual, because he didn’t want to be suspected of having a special relationship with Kyle, especially after being suspected of such a thing by his husband. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

"What’s up?" asked Arcane, his tone sounding more serious than his usual friendly self.

This was enough to make Kyle feel sad, as if he were being pushed away by him. But he could understand it after the misunderstanding that had occurred.

"Actually, I just wanted to apologize to you. Ethan was exhausted at the time and also surprised when he saw the two of us in my room. He didn’t mean to attack you at that moment," Kyle said, trying to explain what had actually happened so Arcane wouldn’t be angry at Ethan.

Thinking that his husband hated him.

However, Arcane’s response seemed perfectly normal, he simply nodded and replied, "Yeah. In that case, just forget about it. It’s not that important."

That response so cold and utterly indifferent, left Kyle feeling utterly devastated. Just because of what happened that one night, Arcane’s attitude toward him had changed. He didn’t seem like the Arcane Kyle knew.

However, not wanting to make a big deal out of it or make Arcane uncomfortable, he decided not to say anything for now.

As he sat in his chair, Arcane stood up and walked out of the teacher’s office, leaving Kyle feeling so lonely as he watched his cold back disappear.

"Arcane, do you hate me now?" he thought at that moment.

Without realizing it, he clenched his fists so tightly, feeling guilty and lonely as the only person who cared about him now acted like a stranger.

Meanwhile, that afternoon, Arcane returned home and, as usual, was greeted by Luna running toward him.

"Daddy, you’re finally home!" she said happily as Arcane opened his arms and scooped up her little body.

"Hi, Princess, were you a good girl for Papa today?" Arcane asked.

With enthusiasm, Luna nodded her head and said that today she helped Julian clean the house. She also helped tidy up the mess in the living room, and then they ate cold pudding afterward.

Hearing that enthusiastic story made Arcane feel so relieved and happy. The frustration and weariness he’d felt after a long day at work vanished instantly upon hearing his little daughter’s chatter.

Not long after, Julian came over wearing an apron.

"You’re finally home! I thought you wouldn’t remember to come home since you were late for dinner," Julian said, half scolding him.

In reality, he was only a few minutes late, since Arcane usually returned before dinner anyway.

Hearing his husband’s scolding, Arcane raised an eyebrow in surprise. "You’re talking as if I were hours late."

They eventually walked into the house and enjoyed dinner together as usual.

At 10:00 p.m., Julian returned to their room and saw Arcane still sitting on the bed, playing with his phone. Seeing his husband return, he put down him phone and patted his thigh.

"Come here, I’ve been waiting for you."

Without a second thought, Julian walked over and sat on Arcane’s lap. Immediately, Arcane wrapped both arms tightly around him, savoring the time with the man he loved so deeply.

They enjoyed the silence between them until Julian finally spoke first.

"You’ve seemed a little different for the past two days. Is something on your mind?" Julian asked.

Arcane didn’t answer right away, because he didn’t know how to explain it. He was worried that Julian would feel uncomfortable with what he was about to tell him.

However, he knew he couldn’t hide this from his husband, so he finally told him what had happened two days ago after they got back from the pub.

He told him about the misunderstanding that had occurred between him and Kyle in front of the man’s husband.

"He suddenly appeared and almost attacked me. But luckily, he managed to stop himself before it happened," Arcane replied.

Hearing this, Julian was naturally very surprised and immediately looked at Arcane’s face.

"And you didn’t tell me earlier? Why didn’t you just tell me right away that this had happened?" he asked, feeling a little disappointed. Because if he hadn’t asked about what Arcane was currently feeling, Arcane certainly wouldn’t have told him about this incident.

"I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hide this from you. I just didn’t feel like I wanted to tell you. I didn’t want to worry you or make you even more skeptical about my relationship with Kyle."

The red haired man tried to explain everything to his husband. He also said he hadn’t intended to drive Kyle home, but since his father had asked him to, he’d done it.

Knowing this, Julian couldn’t blame Donald for the situation. He felt that Donald wasn’t aware of the issue, let alone his jealousy toward Kyle.

"I see. If your father really told you to do it, I can’t say anything," Julian replied with a sense of resignation.

Arcane’s arms tightened around Julian’s waist, as if he didn’t want to see his partner so sad. He buried his face in Julian’s neck, inhaling his scent deeply and even kissing his neck.

"Whatever it is, I only love you. I know it all sounds so over the top, but I’m sure you believe me when I say I would never cheat on you. Please... Please keep believing in me," Arcane whispered.

"If you don’t trust me, then who else will?"

The last sentence he spoke sounded so vulnerable. Julian could hear the tremor in Arcane’s voice as he said it. Of course, he couldn’t be angry with Arcane either, especially after hearing that trembling voice.

With a broken heart, he finally gently stroked Arcane’s head and whispered that he would continue to trust him.

"I know. You don’t need to worry about that. I’ll always trust you. Because I know my husband better than anyone else."
