Chapter 296: Chapter 294: Repulse
Chapter 294: Repulse
No. 444 has simple principles as a grim reaper. Souls or any entities don’t have the right to stay in the living world. They can no longer do anything to change their lives because they are not supposed to be here.
Wishes are even no longer important because he believes that it will only affect the living. The dead are for the dead and the living is for the living, that’s it.
After sending Lin Yifei, he didn’t stay any longer and moved to different places again.
The next time, the same situation happened. The devil watched how the man remained cold and indifferent to the pleas around him and just directly used his magic to pull the souls together.
This occurs countless times until the time reaches late at night. He even expected now that the man would probably just go around and fight non-stop again but to his surprise, No. 444 finally stops overworking and teleports to the rooftop of a high building.
The man directly sat at the end with his legs dangling in the air. No. 444 didn’t say a word and just silently stared at the bright lights from all over the city.
The devil also casually sat not far away from him and they overlooked the surroundings in front of them.
"So you’re finally resting?" he broke the silence and even sarcastically said it in that tone.
He wanted to tease and asked him if the man’s body was tired but in the next second, No. 444 cut him off.
"You’re noisy."
"???" The devil’s face finally cracked. Is he telling him he’s just ’resting’ because he’s been noisy about that? He looked at the man with an incredulous face.
"What?!"
"Noisy." The latter didn’t even hesitate to say that word again and he let out a short exclamation.
"Fuck you." he cursed mockingly and just directly teleport away.
No. 444 didn’t seem to care about the devil’s disappearance who might also take that chance to escape and remain staring at the city.
He Li, who was just listening behind them, looked at the grim reaper’s back with a sigh.
He really didn’t expect the young man’s temperament now. Qin An in his previous life is someone who’s very blunt and can easily anger anyone. Just look at how he easily snapped the devil’s patience with just a few words, it’s really no wonder that even for someone to walk away.
Qin An’s expression remained calm and went back to sightseeing. He Li also took a look at the view.
This is the Mother Star, the Earth.
This was supposed to be their home. He Li isn’t someone sentimental but he knew how his world greatly wanted to even at least revive the original home’s history to pay respect for their ancestors and to have the sense of belonging. Even after so many years, they never forget the original home that destroyed everything they were supposed to have.
And now standing in the world that only they dared to longed for, He Li felt an indescribable feeling. There’s the feeling of nostalgia even though he really has not seen the Earth in his own eyes, heartache for this beautiful world and the sense of belonging that he didn’t even know existed inside his heart.
He Li’s eyes remained glued to the tiny lights from the scenery below them and only that he withdrew when the grim reaper beside him stood up.
For the next few days, he followed the other one on his work and even himself couldn’t help but feel tired after watching him work tirelessly. It seems that he didn’t even know when to stop, as if his body had an endless strength. Seeing this only reminded him one time when Qin An dragged his body to work even though his human body could not keep up.
He remembered having a quarrel with him because he really couldn’t stand t himself watching the young man forcing himself. He didn’t expect that the latter’s stubbornness would be more difficult in this life.
No. 444 didn’t also seem to care where the devil went. It’s clear that he didn’t intend to take what the Judge wanted him to do.
Until one time when they’re in a forest again and the latter had just finished defeating an enemy when they heard a presence not far away from them.
Qin An quickly straightened himself even though he was still clearly a bit exhausted from the fight earlier. His sword remained stained with the dark blood from the demon he fought and he teleported to that area whereas He Li was also automatically teleported to follow him.
There they saw an unexpected appearance of the devil that he just thought earlier.
To say that it’s unexpected is because of the man’s unkept appearance at this moment. His back robe was dirty with fresh and dried blood and ripped. His hat had long been thrown and he also had wounds on his body. Even his untouchable countenance is no longer the same.
It’s obvious that the devil had a hard time after separation. However even though he looks like this, his face remained sharp but was even more cold, obviously not accepting that he’s being like this due to the Judge’s restraint on him.
The devil noticed No. 444’s presence but he didn’t care. His eyes stayed at the monster in front and cursed inside. This is a monster that had long harbored resentment towards him because he’s been surpassed by him. Now that they accidentally met and the latter recognized him and thus wanted revenge.
If it were before, he would only glance at it contemptuously, now he couldn’t even fight fairly because of the restriction. He ended up this way and for the first time in his life, he had no choice but to resort on escaping. Of course the monster wouldn’t let this opportunity slip away and thus chase him all the way here.
Sensing the familiar presence of that grim reaper, he felt even more anger. A feeling of humiliation grew inside him as the temperature around him kept decreasing. He never felt this weak! This is an insult for a devil like him!
He clenched his fist tightly and his eyes narrowed. He straightened himself and was about to attack when No. 444 teleported in front of him.
His face tightened. "I don’t need your help." He coldly said. He refused such treatment!
However the grim reaper didn’t even bother to answer and just started attacking the monster with his ancient sword.
The monster’s level isn’t actually not on his level in the first place if it weren’t for his situation, what’s more to someone like the grim reaper so he quickly ended the fight with a few strikes of his sword.
The monster’s lifeless body fell into a loud thud on the ground and the latter turned his attention to him who was now sitting under the tree while clutching the wounded abdomen.
Their eyes met briefly for a moment before he looked away. He will not thank him anyway.
No. 444 also didn’t care and walked towards him.
"You need treatment." The man directly said. His current strength could not obviously heal himself and it would take time now.
But they knew that taking time is not suitable, especially that he has many enemies.
"I can help you."
He pursed his lips at that suggestion. He doesn’t want to.
"My spiritual power is not suitable to treat your wounds because they will feel repulsive to each other. However, that doesn’t mean that I can’t heal you. It’s just more painful." The man explained, thinking that the devil was not responding because he didn’t know.
The devil actually knew but he didn’t answer because until now he couldn’t accept his situation.
Not only was he reduced to following a grim reaper but he also chased to escape to a mere monster, and now he has to be treated by someone he left.
However he also knew that the man’s offer was the best for him. It is indeed painful because his body that was filled with dark energy will naturally repulse spiritual power but there’s no other choice.
In the end, he could only nod silently.
The grim reaper squatted down and extended his hand and to his surprise, the latter directly put his palm on his cold hand that’s covering his wound. The devil felt the coldness of the latter’s hands and the strand of spiritual energy flowed from his hand.
The next seconds was a moment of an agony of pain that he never felt in his life.
As soon as the two hostile energies touch each other, a terrible burning sensation quickly floods inside him.
He grit his teeth. It was a burning that ran straight down to his bones, as if it wanted to penetrate him wholly, to leave nothing except for an excruciating pain that wanted to consume him.
However he didn’t let a single groan of pain and remained silent, as it is the only thing that remains to maintain his dignity.
Unbeknownst to this tense atmosphere, He Li stood two feet away from them. His eyes staring intently at the clasped hands with unknown thoughts inside his mind.
