Chapter 46: Ch86. King’s respect

The trio of magic caster students dispelled their barrier, and their classmates finally sighed in relief.

Some fell to their knees, others held each other, Nikolai and Evellyn looked at Kurt with their eyes wide and jaws dropped low, but all of them had one thing in common...

All of them looked at Kurt, absolutely surprised, shocked, and terrorized by the bloody show the boy had put on for them.

Kurt got up, his classmates didn’t move, he stretched a little bit, and went back inside the cave.

Inside the cave, Kurt went straight to the bottom of it, where he had been with Nikolai and Evellyn just a while before, sat down, and exhaled a long sigh, summoning the system window.

[YOU HAVE 01 UNREAD MESSAGE]

’Open.’

[CONGRATULATIONS ON COMPLETING THE EMERGENCY QUEST – MOON HUNT]

[THE REWARDS HAVE BEEN PREPARED]

[RECEIVE?]

’Yes.’

[RECEIVING REWARDS...]

Immediately after Kurt accepted the rewards, he felt a sudden pain on his shoulder that lasted for several seconds.

It felt like his shoulder was on fire, but after a while, the pain disappeared.

Kurt took off his blazer, loosened the tie, and took off his shirt.

Aside from everything he had already seen in the mirror, his body seemed to have gone through some more slight changes.

He looked way sturdier than before, probably due to his new stats, but what shocked him even more when he looked at his shoulder, was that there was a tattoo where there once was only naked, pale skin.

It looked like a tribal tattoo, with the shape of a wolf’s head, encircled with letters he couldn’t recognize.

The system beeped in his mind, going on with the messages, and everything made sense to him.

[FIRST REWARD RECEIVED]

[SPECIAL TITLE – KING’S RESPECT – ACQUIRED]

[KING’S RESPECT]

[DESCRIPTION: TITLE/ATTRIBUTE]

[The bearer of the – KING’S RESPECT – mark deals 50% more damage when fighting wolf-type beasts; All EXP for slaying wolf-type beasts is doubled]

[TITLE’S SPECIAL FEATURE]

[Upon defeating the Kings, the bearer of the title will be able to turn Kings into allies]

"What?!" Kurt’s eyes were wide, and the grin on his face was a mixture of mischief and surprise. "I know what turning enemies into allies mean, but..."

He didn’t have time to go on with the trail of thought, because the system went on with the announcement of the rewards.

[AGILITY INCREASED BY 15]

[DEXTERITY INCREASED BY 15]

[PERCEPTION INCREASED BY 15]

[INTELLIGENCE INCREASED BY 15]

[VIGOR INCREASED BY 15]

[RECEIVING GROTH’S DEN MAP]

Kurt was mesmerized as a new system window opened, showing the entirety of the forest, and even more.

Beyond the forest, there was what seemed to be grassy plains.

And where the plains ended, there was a mountain, and a red dot pointed the location of the floor’s boss, right there, inside the mountain.

"Well, can’t say the system didn’t deliver what it promised, but... Fifteen stat points for EACH stat? I mean, I know I don’t need much strength with a class that relies on [AGILITY], [DEXTERITY] and [PERCEPTION], so it does make sense. But still, woah... And I even got a nice tattoo." He laughed.

"Are you okay, Kurt?" He heard Nikolai and Evellyn’s voice approaching from the entrance of the cave.

"Yeah, I’m feeling good."

"You did put on a show out there, man. The others are-"

"Suspicious? Afraid?" Kurt interrupted.

"Hum..." Evellyn started. "I can’t say they aren’t, but they’re mostly grateful for you having saved their lives after... After so many of us died."

Kurt fell silent for a while.

"Guys..." He broke the silence after a few seconds, knowing that Delilah and the others were near as well. "Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad that you all are alive and well, but I didn’t intend on saving your lives." His expression became nonchalant. "It was just a side effect of my wanting to grow stronger to get what I want. So don’t come after me when you need to be saved again. This whole test was just a hoax to begin with, and you all came into the Nest on your own accord, so if you’ll excuse me, I have a boss to catch."

Everyone gathered around him while he spoke, and after he was done speaking, all students, including Nikolai and Evellyn were deadly silent.

Kurt’s expression was still nonchalant, as if he just needed to do what had to be done, then he turned around and stepped forward to leave the cave.

"Wait!" Johan, one of the magic casters, stopped him. "What did you mean when you said that this test was just a hoax?"

Johan was a tall boy. Almost as tall as Kurt had become.

He had hair the color of sand, tied in a ponytail, light brown eyes, and the complexion of a speedster, lean and light.

Johan was also an Irregular in the Indigo class, the red stripe on the sleeve of his blazer showing, while the other sleeve was in tatters.

Kurt sighed and looked at all of them, using his [PRYING EYES].

"Some of you haven’t taken the ranking test yet, but I can tell you one thing. You’re not weak. None of you. You all are more than capable of taking down beasts of ranks F, E, or even D if you learn well enough to work as a team. And what does it mean that I’m telling you that you can deal with this ranks of beasts, and you still lost so many others to Direwolves and Diwerewolves?"

The silence was broken by Delilah, who stared at Kurt, angry.

"Look, I know that you’re cute and all, and I know that you’re not just looks, but who do you think you are to say something about us that only the Association have the equipment to say?" She stomped on the ground. "Don’t you think that it’s, to say the least, arrogant from your part?"

Kurt grinned.

"Then what? You’re going to believe in what the headmaster and Zaval said about this being just a test? Because if you believe it, then you’re no better than the dead around us in this forest. Now if you’ll excuse me, as I said before..." Kurt glared at Delilah, sending shivers through her spine. "I have a boss to catch."

And when Kurt got a few steps further away, Delilah retorted.

"Then how did you take them out that easily? How stronger than us are you?"

"I’m not stronger." He lied. "I just have a more intense drive."

Thanks to Nikolai, he knew that the wolf’s meat was edible, so he wouldn’t waste too much time looking for food.

He just looked forwards and pressed on, his eyes glowing with a black light, leaving everyone inside the cave, speechless.

’I’m sorry, guys. But I can’t carry you all around.’
