Chapter 535: [A Godless World] (3)
"Knock, knock, knock!"
A sudden knock echoed through the house. Ember paused for a moment before flicking his wrist. The kitchen knife spun once through the air and buried itself squarely in the cutting board.
He washed his hands and headed for the door.
Perhaps because the wait had felt too long, the person outside knocked again. In reality, though, it had taken Ember only a few moments to walk from the kitchen to the entrance.
As he approached, he could vaguely hear the muttering from outside.
"Still not coming? It’s freaking hot out here..."
Click!
The door swung open, and the complaint died instantly in the speaker’s throat.
Ember and the other person faced each other.
Seeing his own reflection in those ocean-blue eyes, where rippling lights danced like waves beneath the surface, Ember couldn’t help but frown.
The building manager standing off to the side instinctively shrank back a little at the sight.
Their new tenant, however, didn’t seem afraid in the slightest. Dragging his luggage behind him, he squeezed his way into the apartment. Ember, caught off guard by the sudden move, stepped aside almost immediately, looking as though he wanted to avoid even the slightest physical contact.

"Wow, this place actually looks pretty nice."
As he spoke, he turned toward Ember, who was still staring down at him with cold, shadowed eyes like those of a reptile.
"Hello, you’re Ember, right? I’m Adrian. Nice to meet you."
As he spoke, he extended a hand. His almond-shaped eyes narrowed slightly with his smile. Sunlight streamed in through the doorway, illuminating his gold hair until it seemed to glow, making him appear as though he belonged to an entirely different world from Ember.
At least, that was how the building manager felt. Standing beside Adrian was easily ten degrees warmer than standing beside Ember!
Ember stared at the hand held out before him without moving.
The atmosphere seemed to freeze in an instant. The building manager hurriedly forced a laugh to ease the tension.
"Ember, didn’t you say the other day that living alone was getting a little lonely and that you wanted a roommate? Adrian just happened to have something going on nearby, so—"
"I don’t need one anymore," Ember cut him off.
The building manager parted his lips, unable to hide the awkward expression as he looked at Ember.
That said, Lotus Park had plenty of vacant rooms at the moment. If that was the case...
But before he could say anything, Adrian was already walking toward the bedroom with the closed door.
"Too bad I’ve already paid the rent. We’ll just make do, okay?"
As he passed, he casually gave Ember a pat on the back, causing him to stumble forward slightly.
From the building manager’s perspective, the young man named Ember stood frozen in place. His pupils trembled uncontrollably, and his fists were clenched so tightly that his knuckles had turned white.
"..."
Shit, I’d better get out of here.
"Well, I’ll be going then, Adrian. If you need anything, just give me a call!"
With that, he hurried toward the door. Before leaving completely, he even thoughtfully closed it behind him.
[lol I’m dying. Could you please stop looking so timid?!]
[I seriously respect this guy. His name’s Adrian, right?]
[This is literally the first person who’s actually touched Ember.]
[So is he an NPC or another Artist?]
[With a face like that, there’s NO WAY he’s just an NPC, okayyyy!!!]
Almost the moment Adrian appeared, viewers following the livestream also received a notification that "The Most Loyal Missionary of Erebus" had gone live.
Viewers flooded into the stream. But the instant they saw the face on screen, they all froze. After a long moment, the chat exploded with questions.
The moment Adrian entered his room, he tossed his luggage aside before throwing himself onto the soft bed nearby.

Letting out a long sigh, he finally had time to check his livestream.
Seeing that he had finally noticed them, the viewers immediately began spamming the chat.
Adrian’s gaze swept across the title of the livestream, and he couldn’t help laughing.
"Haha, that’s definitely Silvanus’s style."
[...]
[That smile is killing me.]
[Sounds like the two of them are pretty close.]
[Would Silvanus actually be close to anyone? Feels like the only thing in his head is Erebus.]
As if he had read the comment, Adrian widened his eyes in disbelief.
"Seriously, how many times have you people even met Silvanus to think you know him that well?!"
Then he rubbed his chin with one hand.
"But I’m not really surprised. With how mean Silvanus is, anyone can tell."
[Hey, don’t talk about Silvanus like that!]
[If you and Silvanus aren’t actually best friends, then I can only curse you to die!]
[The only person allowed to call Silvanus mean is Nick!]
[kkkkk]
Of course, there were also viewers who focused on analyzing the situation and asking all sorts of questions.
[Are you a believer of Erebus too? Or are you a Priest?]
"The only difference is the title."
[So if you’re a Priest, you can use this account to livestream too?]
[That’s seriously overpowered. How is Happy TV Network still keeping quiet about this?!]
[As expected, Erebus’s authority surpasses everything. Glory to the great Erebus!]
"You guys are pretty sharp, my lovely viewers."
[What the heck? That’s so cheesy!]
[Good grief, that’s way too greasy. I still like Silvanus better!]
Adrian paid no attention to the viewers’ shouting. He rubbed his stomach and muttered,
"I’m starving."
Then he climbed off the bed and headed outside.

The aroma waiting outside was mouthwatering. Apparently, after staring at Adrian’s bedroom door for more than five minutes, Ember had finally accepted reality and gone back to cooking.
"Smells amazing..."
Before Adrian could even finish speaking, Ember spun around. His icy gaze, mixed with a hint of disbelief, shot straight toward Adrian.
[Wow, he walks without making a single sound!]
[Ember must’ve gotten startled too, hahaha. This is the first time I’ve ever seen surprise on his face.]
Seeing Ember gripping the kitchen knife tightly in his hand, Adrian immediately raised both hands in surrender and smiled.
"Easy, easy, easy. I was just going to say that the moment I saw you, I knew you had to be a great cook. I’m starving. Mind giving me a share?"
[The audacity!!!]
[They literally just met for the first time, right?]
[Can he seriously not tell that Ember doesn’t like him?]
Ember pressed his lips together as he looked at Adrian.
Without saying a word, he frowned, set the kitchen knife back onto the cutting board, and carried his own meal outside.
