Chapter 81: Chapter 81: Trapped on the Ship

He had changed into a thin shirt, and his serpentine lower half looked exceptionally relaxed.

Bai Su instantly grew wary. "Why are you here? Where is this? Where’s Lu Tingyan?"

Li Chenlin scoffed. "The first thing you do when you wake up is ask for him? How unpleasant."

He swiftly closed the distance, gripping Bai Su’s chin. "I’m taking you back to the Southern Country. Forget Lu Tingyan. From now on, I will be your first Beast Husband."

Bai Su slapped him across the face with the back of her hand. "Get away from me! I hate you!"

The Snake Beastman maids who were filing into the room heard the commotion. They shuddered, nearly dropping the trays in their hands.

Did they hear that right?

President Li... slapped by a female?!

The system’s cheerful voice rang in her head: ’They’re going up! They’re going up again! So many more affection points! This point-granting saint is so kind~’

Bai Su: ’...’

The system quickly put on a serious face, feigning anger. ’He’s so bad! Resorting to kidnapping!’

Li Chenlin’s expression darkened. He touched the stinging spot on his cheek, his face showing a look of absolute determination. "I’ll make you want to marry me, my little rabbit."

Bai Su spat, "Only a fucking idiot would fall for their kidnapper!"

’It’s not like I’m a masochist.’

Li Chenlin adored her stubbornness. The way she stared him down, all cold defiance, made his blood run hot.

The thought that this feisty little rabbit could now only be restrained by him, at his mercy aboard this ship, inexplicably lifted his spirits.

He rubbed her rabbit ears. "Susu, get up and eat something. In a few more days, we’ll arrive in the Southern Country."

Bai Su looked at him in shock. "You’re taking me to the Southern Country?"

A trace of pride crossed Li Chenlin’s face. "Of course. The Southern Country is my territory. As long as I don’t let you go, not even Lu Tingyan could take you away if he came."

"A few years ago, their incompetent leader dragged down the entire Federation. In its current state of disrepair, that pathetic Federation is no match for the Southern Country."

Bai Su glared at him furiously. "Even if you take me to the Southern Country, I won’t let you be my first Beast Husband! I won’t even marry you, you disgusting snake!"

Bai Su was the kind of person who yielded to kindness, not force, and Li Chenlin had just hit a nerve.

She absolutely despised being forced to do anything.

Li Chenlin’s eyes darkened, and anger flickered in their depths. "Is that so? Then we’ll just have to wait and see. I’m curious how long you can keep that tough act up."

That day, Bai Su smashed all the nutrient packs that were sent in.

Both the windows and the door to her room were locked.

Snake Beastmen and maids patrolled everywhere outside.

Escape was impossible.

Besides, they were in the middle of the ocean. As a rabbit, she couldn’t swim at all.

’Damn that Li Chenlin!’

System: ’Don’t worry, Host. He won’t actually hurt you. Besides, we can use this as a chance to farm more affection points!’

Bai Su shot back, irritated. ’I couldn’t care less about this male lead!’

’I hate people who are so controlling.’

’And snakes are the species I hate most.’

’From the very beginning, all I’ve felt toward him is fear. Nothing else!’

The system didn’t dare to speak again, seeing that Bai Su was truly angry.

As night fell, Li Chenlin finally came to see her, bringing fresh food.

He placed the milk and bread on the bedside table and casually ruffled the hair of the little rabbit on the bed. "Why aren’t you eating? Are the nutrient packs not to your liking?"

Bai Su refused to even look at him, turning her head away with a blank expression, her heart sealed off.

Li Chenlin’s brow twitched. He forcefully turned her face back toward him. "Susu, don’t test my patience. It’s limited."

Bai Su scoffed. "So what if your patience is limited? Are you going to kill me?"

Li Chenlin’s fingers pressed against her lips. "I mean you no harm."

Bai Su looked as if she’d heard the biggest joke in the world. "You call kidnapping someone against their will and dragging them to a strange place ’no harm’?"

Li Chenlin’s brow furrowed. "Have I caused you any actual harm? Is there a single scratch on your body? Have I abused you in any way?"

"I bring you out here, give you a lavish environment and the best conditions, with all these people to wait on you, and you can’t even speak to me civilly?"

Bai Su looked like she’d heard the world’s biggest joke again. "So? Am I supposed to thank you? Get on my knees and kowtow? Thank you for kidnapping me but not hurting me?"

Li Chenlin didn’t understand her hostile attitude. "Do you know? The last person who spoke to me like that, I ate them."

The mockery on Bai Su’s face deepened. "Oh, so should I thank you again? For the gracious favor of not eating me?"

Li Chenlin felt she was completely twisting his good intentions. He had never been this patient with anyone before. Anyone else who dared to act so petulantly in front of him would have died a thousand deaths by now.

He took a deep breath, patiently placing the bread and milk in front of her. "I had this food specially prepared for you. You must be hungry, right?"

Bai Su turned her head to look at him.

Li Chenlin reined in his anger, trying to look gentler so as not to scare her. "Eat a little. Don’t you like fresh food? I had this specially brought in for you from back home, delivered by air freight."

Bai Su picked up the milk.

Li Chenlin’s expression softened a little.

With a blank expression, Bai Su tilted the glass and, right in front of him, slowly poured the milk all over the floor.

The hint of a smile on Li Chenlin’s face instantly vanished.

He stared at Bai Su gloomily, his anger rising. "I’m doing this for your own good, and you don’t appreciate it, is that it? Fine."

Hearing those words, "for your own good," sent Bai Su’s anger to a new level. She let out a cold laugh and, right in front of Li Chenlin, smashed the glass to smithereens.

The CRASH of breaking glass made all the maids in the room shudder and instinctively drop to their knees.

Li Chenlin stared at her grimly, gripping her wrist tightly. "Bai Su, you’re asking for it!"

Bai Su wasn’t scared in the slightest. She just stared right back at Li Chenlin, her face full of defiance.

Li Chenlin didn’t understand her, and neither did the system.

The thing she hated most in this life was having other people make decisions for her.

In her last life, her parents were always making decisions for her.

Under the guise of "it’s for your own good," they ignored her wishes and forced all sorts of decisions on her, big and small.

For her own good, they transferred her to another school, saying they were afraid the other students’ bad behavior would affect her studies.

But what was the reality?

It was only because her withdrawn younger sister had offended the child of a wealthy family at school and had to transfer. She was just taken along for the ride.

For her own good, they made her board at the school. But in reality, it was just to make it easier for her to look after her younger sister, who had cried and begged to be a boarder, and to protect her from being bullied.

For her own good, they had secretly changed her high school entrance exam application.

She had originally been accepted into the best high school in the county, First High. But because her sister’s grades were poor and she was very likely to end up at Third High, they secretly changed her application behind her back. They made her enroll in Third High early, just so she could scout the way for her sister, in case she ended up there with no one to look after her.
