Chapter 162: Chapter 161: A Troll Comes to Pick a Fight
*
Bai Su was in the middle of a whirlwind of activity.
Yan Qingya had just finished her postpartum confinement but was already back in the lobby greeting guests, clad in high heels, a camisole, and a cardigan. The smile on her face was so sweet that Bai Su sometimes suspected she had secretly eaten three pounds of white sugar in the kitchen before her shift.
Industrial saccharine—artificial and cloying.
Bai Su had no choice but to pull her into a corner. "Ayala..."
Yan Qingya smiled at her. "What is it?"
Bai Su said, "...Could you maybe not smile like that?"
Yan Qingya kept smiling. "Nope."
Bai Su asked, "Why not?"
Yan Qingya replied, "For work, I got a special 8-hour smile-lift filler."
Live Comments: [Hahahahaha, this female is so cute too.]
[She’s really going all out for work.]
[*Sob* Are all females this independent now? They’re all out building their own careers. What’s the point of us males then?]
[Slightly off-topic, but that smile-lift looks great. Miss, where did you get it done?]
Bai Su was speechless. "..."
’There’s no need to go *that* hard,’ she thought.
She said with an amused laugh, "You don’t have to be so tense at work. Generally, our customers are pretty easygoing."
Bai Su watched her darting around in high heels, worried she would wear herself out.
’She just had a baby. She really needs to rest more.’
Yan Qingya nodded, only half-understanding. "Oh, is that so..."
Then, she suddenly laughed again. "But running a restaurant is way harder than opening a bar or a club. By the way, that bar you invested in for me is already up and running. The young masters are in training... Mmph!"
Quick as a flash, Bai Su clapped a hand over her mouth and hissed, "That’s a secret! You can’t talk about it!"
’If Lu Tingyan and Yelias found out she was opening a bar with male hosts, they’d die of jealousy.’
Yan Qingya caught on and lowered her voice as well. "They won’t find out."
Live Comments: [Oh, but they already know.]
[Yeah, top donor Leader Lu, come on out and take a stroll. You’ve been sitting in the VIP section for half the day.]
[LMAO, I’m dying. What’s the point of whispering? Susu, your mic is clipped to your collar!]
[Shhh, let’s not tell her! Let’s see when she figures it out.]
In his office, handling military affairs, Lu Tingyan stared at the live broadcast, his eyes narrowing.
’A club, a bar, training young masters, huh...?’
Just as Bai Su was about to speak, a female burst through the main doors, looking for a fight. She stormed over toward Yan Qingya in a few large strides. "Hey! Get your boss out here."
Bai Su and Yan Qingya turned at the sound of her voice, and both froze.
’Bi Yue?’
The live stream camera next to Bai Su panned over to Bi Yue, and the live comments section instantly grew wary.
[What? Our Susu is the Federation’s First Duke, how does someone still dare to show up and cause trouble?]
[That face looks a little familiar. Didn’t she cause a scene here before?]
[I think so, I remember her too.]
When Bi Yue saw Bai Su, she also froze for a moment before her face darkened. "Good! Saves me the trouble of hunting you down!"
"Bai Su, you..."
Before she could finish, Kong Ji moved with lightning speed, restraining her and forcing her to her knees in one smooth motion. "Duchess, what are your orders?"
[Hahahahahaha, little bro Kong Ji is so cool!]
[That ended so abruptly. I thought she was a tigress, but she was all bark and no bite.]
[What the... I already had an 800-word flame post ready to go, but this female is such a weakling?]
The corner of Bai Su’s mouth twitched. She felt a bit exasperated.
For the past few days, Bi Yue had been constantly trying to ambush her.
One time, she tailed Bai Su’s car but was intercepted by Bablo before she could even get close.
Another time, she was lurking furtively outside Bai Su’s mansion, only for Lu Tingyan to have her thrown far away as he was leaving.
You couldn’t say she was completely stupid; she knew enough to try a different method each time.
But you couldn’t say she was smart, either, since she always showed up with "I’m here to make trouble" written all over her face.
Bai Su was getting sick of her.
Yan Qingya was thoroughly amused. "You still haven’t dealt with this?"
Bai Su shrugged. "She’s a high-ranking female. What am I supposed to do with her?"
Yan Qingya clucked her tongue. "A case of love-addled brains this severe is pretty rare, even among females."
Bai Su let out a soft sigh. ’Better late than never. This saves me the trouble of finding her myself.’
She had Kong Ji take the woman to the third floor and handed the live streaming device to Yan Qingya.
The third floor was a private area she had reserved for entertaining acquaintances and friends. It had a dedicated reception room and was very quiet.
Bi Yue, tied up securely, was tossed into the small reception room.
Bai Su then had some food brought in.
The two of them sat down, facing each other across the table.
Bi Yue stared at her furiously, her gaze filled with enough hatred to tear Bai Su to pieces.
Bai Su suddenly chuckled. "Why do you hate me so much?"
Bi Yue grew even angrier. "Shouldn’t I hate you? It’s all your fault! You’re the one who turned me into this, and you stole my male!"
Bai Su’s mouth twitched. "You mean that Sai’er guy?"
Hearing her lover’s name, Bi Yue became even more agitated. "Yes, him! You despicable villain! You abused your power for personal gain, framing Sai’er just to help Yelias seize control. You’ll get what’s coming to you!"
Bai Su rolled her eyes. "And you’re any better? How well did you treat the disabled military veterans? Now that your own interests are on the line, you suddenly know how to play the good guy?"
Bi Yue shouted angrily, "What do you know? Those disabled people deserved to die! They were a burden on our tribe!"
"Do you know how much time and energy my father wasted every day just to support them?"
"Have you seen my father bowing and scraping before those nobles, begging for donations?"
"Have you seen him chain-smoking, unable to sleep all night?"
"You don’t understand anything, so what are you yapping about over here?"
Bai Su watched her, her expression flat. "But those people are heroes who defended our country. If they hadn’t thrown themselves into the fray, they might not have become disabled."
"They could be just like you, able-bodied and self-sufficient, free to do as they please."
"But it’s a different story for you. If they hadn’t stepped up, Snow Country might not have withstood the Southern Country’s invasion. By now, Snow Country would have long been their colony."
"And you certainly wouldn’t be standing here, exercising your privileges as the daughter of a branch leader."
Bi Yue was cornered, unable to come up with a retort.
Of course, she understood the logic. But knowing something and experiencing it firsthand are two different things.
The moment she saw her father being turned away at every door, swallowing his pride to beg nobles for money, any sympathy she might have had vanished!
Bi Yue stewed for a long moment before snapping, "So what? I didn’t come here to get a lecture from you!"
Bai Su raised an eyebrow. "I know. Your love-addled brain is acting up. You’re not here to seek justice for your father; you’re here to help your scumbag boyfriend."
Bi Yue was even more furious. "Sai’er is not a scumbag!"
Bai Su arched an eyebrow. "Isn’t he? Surely you know, right?"
Taken aback by her confident tone, Bi Yue’s anger faltered slightly. "Know what?"
Bai Su said, "That Sai’er is a total player."
Bi Yue’s eyes widened. "Do you have proof? Stop trying to drive a wedge between us!"
Bai Su wouldn’t have brought her here if she didn’t have proof.
She had the System transfer the collected data to her smart device, then projected it onto the large screen in the reception room.
With her hands and feet bound, Bi Yue could only watch passively.
Bai Su displayed all the information she had gathered on Sai’er over the past few days. "See for yourself."
She had dated a lot in her past life and had seen her fair share of men.
She could see right through Bi Yue’s motives.
’A child who feels for her parents can’t be all that bad.’
Bi Yue simply couldn’t stand to see her father burdened by the disabled veterans, which is why she developed an animosity toward them.
She also couldn’t stand Bai Su stealing her thunder, so she hired people to cause trouble.
She never expected to mess with the wrong person and ended up getting locked up for several months.
By the time she was released, her father, her kinsmen, the Disabled Tribe—almost everyone had sided with Bai Su, casting condemning glances at her for causing trouble.
In reality, all Bi Yue needed was for Bai Su to offer her an out.
But Bai Su didn’t. She didn’t even remember someone named Bi Yue existed.
Feeling abandoned by the world, it was easy for Bi Yue to fall into Sai’er’s honey trap after he showed her affection, understanding, and tolerance.
Bi Yue saw Sai’er as a safe harbor after her release from prison. It was as if the whole world had rejected her, and then suddenly, Sai’er appeared and offered her a ray of light.
