Chapter 209: Chapter 209: The Beast God’s Bet

Seeing that Yu An was about to speak again, Lord Mo snapped impatiently, "I don’t know. But if you say one more word, I’ll throw you down!"

Yu An glanced at the ground far below and immediately clamped her mouth shut.

But seeing the direction Lord Mo was headed, she couldn’t resist asking, "Where are we going? This doesn’t look like the way to Invincible City."

To stop her from chattering again, Lord Mo said flatly, "The Treasure Pearl Sea."

’The Treasure Pearl Sea?’

At first, Yu An thought Lord Mo was taking her to the Beastman Continent. But after checking their direction, she remembered that the Beast God Continent also had a Treasure Pearl Sea. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

Recalling the secret chamber under the pool in Coral City, and the Beast God in the stone room within, Yu An guessed that Lord Mo was after the Beast God.

Lord Mo was incredibly fast. Upon reaching the Treasure Pearl Sea, he dove straight in. With Lan Yin’s Shark Pearls inside her, Yu An wasn’t worried about her body drowning.

He knew this place well. Just as Yu An had expected, he was indeed going to find the Beast God.

The secret chamber opened once more. Lord Mo casually set Yu An down on the Ice Coffin. In her soul state, she didn’t feel the cold.

"You’ve come after all."

The Beast God’s voice rang out. Lord Mo said coldly, "I’m here. Come out."

The Beast God sighed. "You know full well I can’t get out..."

"Save those lies for a child," Lord Mo said coldly. "If you don’t come out, I’ll smash this coffin!"

The Beast God sighed again. Yu An felt a tremor beneath her feet, and the next moment, the Ice Coffin was pushed open from within. Her footing slipped, and she nearly fell.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, there’s a person here!"

"I know." The person inside the Ice Coffin opened his eyes, his fish tail transforming into legs. "Don’t worry, you won’t fall."

The Beast God held out his hand to her, and Yu An hopped on. "Beast God, my body..."

"I know," he sighed. "I knew this day would come sooner or later. I just didn’t expect it to be so soon."

Yu An remained silent. She hadn’t slept at all the previous night because she had been processing something.

The Beast God had informed her through some unknown means that her body would be controlled by Lord Mo today, telling her not to resist and to just let it happen.

Yu An asked glumly, "So how exactly did he take control of me?"

The Beast God looked at Lord Mo. "Since things have come to this, why not enlighten our young friend here?"

Lord Mo paused for a moment. "Wen Qing. A Gu Worm."

It dawned on Yu An. "You used Wen Qing to place a Gu on me?"

Seeing Lord Mo give a slight nod, she understood. However, the thought of Wen Qing’s family’s death brought a cold glint to her eyes.

She was too small, and Lord Mo’s attention was focused on the Beast God, so he didn’t notice the change in her expression.

"A bet is a bet," Lord Mo said, looking at the body he now occupied. "I’ve found a suitable body and can now control this world. The position of Beast God should be mine."

’They made a bet? And the stakes were the Beast God’s position?’

Yu An looked at the Beast God, but the Beast God didn’t look at her. Instead, he said to Lord Mo, "But your soul and this body are not stable. If you don’t reinforce them, they will separate in a few days."

"As you said, a bet is a bet. But even an ant clings to life. Although I am the Beast God, I would also like to live a few more days."

"How about you stabilize the body first? Once you’ve completely resolved this underlying issue, you can come back to me and collect on your bet."

Lord Mo was silent for a moment, seeming to think. Taking this opportunity, the Beast God’s voice rang in Yu An’s mind again.

"Young lady, many years ago I made a bet with the Demon. The bet was whether he could find a body capable of containing him, and the stake was my position as Beast God. I only made the bet to stall for time."

"If I hadn’t made the bet, he would have destroyed this world back then. I had no choice but to take such a risky move."

Yu An tried to ask with her mind, ’Now that he’s won the bet, are you really going to just hand over the position of Beast God?’

"Of course not," the Beast God’s voice was tinged with a trace of helplessness. "It was an act of desperation back then. I have been planning for what I could do to stop the Demon if it ever came to this."

"Fortunately, he and your body are not fully compatible for the time being. Now listen closely to what I’m about to say..."

This entire exchange happened in an instant. Meanwhile, Lord Mo had made his decision.

"I’ll let you live a few more days," he said as he took Yu An back. "But next time, if you dare to make another excuse..."

"I wouldn’t dare, I wouldn’t dare," the Beast God waved his hand. "A bet is a bet. Besides, this isn’t an excuse."

"I’ll say one last thing, Demon. You should think twice before you act!"

His voice was full of helplessness. When Lord Mo heard this, a chilling aura radiated from his body. "Shut up! I don’t need you to tell me how to do things!"

The Beast God said no more. He lay back down, and the lid of the Ice Coffin closed once again.

Lord Mo turned and left. Yu An was tired of standing, so she sat down on his hand to ponder what the Beast God had told her.

’Hiss... This sounds pretty difficult.’

Right now, she couldn’t enter her space. The connection was completely severed, and she couldn’t even contact Lu Lu.

The Zaizai were all in her space. She wondered if they would be scared since she’d been gone for so long.

Fortunately, although Lord Mo knew she had a space, he couldn’t enter it or interfere with anything inside.

Chun Nuan and the others were all in the space, so she didn’t have to worry about the Zaizai being uncared for.

Thinking of this, Yu An breathed a small sigh of relief.

Just after leaving the Treasure Pearl Sea, Yu An thought Lord Mo was going to leave the area, but unexpectedly he stopped.

She looked up and asked, "Why have we stopped?"

Lord Mo didn’t answer. With a frown, he used his free hand to rub his stomach.

A GROWL came from the stomach. Seeing this, it dawned on Yu An. "I... no, wait. *You’re* hungry."

Lord Mo had never needed to eat before, but he knew what hunger felt like. He figured the body would be in distress if he didn’t resolve the issue.

"What’s the solution?"

"Just eat something," Yu An directed. "This is the sea. Go catch a fish and eat it."

Lord Mo nodded. In a flash, a large fish was pulled from the water.

He opened his mouth, about to take a bite, when Yu An hurriedly stopped him. "You have to cook it! My body hasn’t had raw food in a while. It’ll get a stomachache!"

Lord Mo sounded impatient. "How troublesome."

Yu An was speechless. "Then let me back into my body, and I’ll cook it."

He thought for a moment, and in the blink of an eye, Yu An was back in her body.

She quickly stretched her limbs, then cleaned the fish, went to the nearby woods to gather some dry branches, and built a fire.

The fish was set to roast over the fire. Yu An took out some seasonings from her space and, while she was at it, wrote a quick note to tell Chun Nuan what was going on and to let her and the Zaizai know not to worry.

Lord Mo paid her no mind. The whole process looked like too much trouble, so he simply closed his eyes and waited for Yu An to fill the stomach.

But before long, the fish was SIZZLING as it cooked. The skin gradually turned a crispy, glistening golden-brown. Yu An cut a few slits in it and brushed on a layer of her secret seasoning.

By now, the roasted fish was already fragrant. Yu An then sprinkled on a handful of cumin and a bit of chili powder, and the aroma became absolutely mouth-watering.

"It’s ready! It smells amazing!"

Just as she picked up the roasted fish and was about to eat, the scene before her eyes changed, and she was removed from her body.

Yu An’s eyes went wide. "That’s the fish I cooked!"

Lord Mo took a bite. "Yes. Filling *your* stomach."

Yu An: "..."
