Chapter 164: Chapter 167: Thanks for the Photo

Sonia Quincy laughed. "I wouldn’t go so far as to say I’m depressed. They’re just really annoying."

"I’d be just as annoyed," Mina Jennings chimed in from the other end, her voice dripping with disgust. "I haven’t done a single thing. I’m just quietly living my life, but these people have to act like they have rabies, sinking their teeth in and refusing to let go."

Julia Dawson: "Exactly... Hey, Miss Quincy, do you know who rounded all these people up?"

Sonia Quincy thought for a moment before giving a cautious reply. "I have a good idea who it is, but I don’t have any proof, so I’m hesitant to say anything."

"Heh..." Hannah Sutton suddenly chuckled. "Miss Quincy, the red-haired woman in the video... is her name Miranda Morgan?"

Sonia Quincy nodded. "Yeah, it is. You know her?"

Hannah Sutton: "I didn’t know her before, only after I saw the news about you. If I’m not mistaken, the person you suspect is behind Miranda Morgan harassing you is probably the same person I’m thinking of."

"...Huh?" Sonia Quincy was a little confused. "You... you also know who’s behind Miranda Morgan?"

"I do," Hannah Sutton said with complete certainty. "Not only do I know, but I also have proof."

"What kind of proof?"

Sonia Quincy, Mina Jennings, and Julia Dawson all asked at the same time.

Hannah Sutton said, "Miss Quincy, I just sent you a photo on WeChat. Go take a look."

Hearing this, Sonia Quincy immediately switched away from the call and opened her WeChat conversation with Hannah Sutton.

The photo Hannah Sutton had sent was taken secretly. It showed Cecilia Quincy and Miranda Morgan.

They were sitting opposite each other at a round table. Both were smiling, but the nature of their smiles was completely different.

Cecilia Quincy’s smile was laced with intense hatred, while Miranda Morgan’s was one of pure excitement, as she was holding a bank card in her hand.

Hannah Sutton explained, "Three days ago, a friend and I were out shopping. We got tired, so we picked a random café on the street to rest for a bit. We never expected to run into Cecilia Quincy and that Miranda Morgan there."

"I didn’t recognize Miranda Morgan, so I wasn’t paying attention to what she and Cecilia Quincy were talking about. I just snapped this picture to send to another friend so I could vent."

"...’Vent’?" That word piqued Sonia Quincy’s curiosity. She could smell gossip brewing.

Hannah Sutton didn’t try to hide it, speaking frankly. "Yeah, vent. Cecilia Quincy is a total poser. Nobody in our social circle likes her."

"Why not?" Julia Dawson asked, her tone urgent. She was itching to hear the gossip.

"Hah," Hannah Sutton scoffed, her voice full of derision. "What other reason could there be? It’s because she’s always showing off her ’oh-so-amazing’ husband, Ethan Lockwood."

"...Huh?" Mina Jennings was confused.

Sonia Quincy asked, "What all does she brag about?"

Hannah Sutton started listing them off without a second thought. "She brags about how handsome her husband is, how rich he is, how much he loves and dotes on her, and how incredibly considerate he is. Sometimes, she’ll even casually mention how much her husband despises his ex-girlfriend, just to emphasize how special he treats her in comparison."

"...Ex-girlfriend?" Sonia Quincy blinked, then said with perfect self-awareness, "Are we talking about me?"

"Uh..." Hannah Sutton stammered for a second. "Well... look, we’re all friends here, so I won’t beat around the bush. Yes, the ex-girlfriend Cecilia Quincy was talking about is you."

"Oh." Sonia Quincy’s reaction was nonchalant. She didn’t seem to care in the slightest.

Hannah Sutton continued, "Every woman in our circle comes from a well-off family and has a capable husband. Our backgrounds are all pretty similar, so when we get together, we don’t really like to discuss our families or husbands. We prefer to talk about juicy gossip, fashion, makeup, that sort of thing."

"But Cecilia Quincy is the sole exception."

"She’s like one of those pampered wives with no identity of her own. Every other word out of her mouth is about what ’my Ethan’ is doing. At first, people thought it was a novelty, but after a while, it just became annoying. She literally wouldn’t talk about anything else when she was with us. It was always just Ethan Lockwood."

"If Ethan Lockwood buys her flowers, she has to brag about it. If Ethan Lockwood feeds her a spoonful of food, she has to brag about it. She’ll even brag to us if Ethan Lockwood so much as clips one of her fingernails! We’re a bunch of women who love good gossip, but we’re genuinely not interested in the details of her life with Ethan Lockwood."

"But she just wouldn’t take a hint. Whenever she was with us, she was guaranteed to start talking about Ethan Lockwood. We got so sick of it that, eventually, we just slowly stopped including her in our plans."

"What’s with her?" Julia Dawson couldn’t figure it out.

Mina Jennings: "Does she not have her own life? Why does she have to mention Ethan Lockwood every second of the day?"

Hannah Sutton offered a theory. "I think she just wants to show off and compete with us. Most of us in this circle are married and have pretty good relationships with our husbands. We might occasionally mention a new bag or piece of jewelry our husband got us, and that’s when Cecilia Quincy will always jump in and start frantically oversharing about Ethan Lockwood! And she loves to throw some subtle shade from time to time."

"Yeah, that’s Cecilia Quincy to a T. She can’t stand seeing anyone else happier than her," Sonia Quincy commented, hitting the nail on the head.

Hannah Sutton: "So, Miss Quincy, was the person you suspected Cecilia Quincy?"

"Yes," Sonia Quincy admitted freely. "And thank you for the photo. You’ve been a huge help."

"Oh... it’s my honor to help you, Miss Quincy!" Hannah Sutton’s tone suddenly became a little fawning.

"Hey?" Julia Dawson suddenly chimed in. "Hannah, weren’t you going to treat Miss Quincy to dinner? When are you planning it for? Can Mina and I come along? We can do the AAB plan."

"...The AAB plan?" It was the first time Sonia Quincy had heard the phrase. "What does that mean?"

"Hehe..." Julia Dawson couldn’t help but giggle. "The AAB plan. You and Hannah go AA—splitting the bill. Mina and I will just bring our shameless asses over to eat."

"...Nope." Sonia Quincy decided to be even more shameless. "It should be Hannah paying for everything, and the three of us will bring our shameless asses over to eat."

"AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!"

The three women on the other end of the call roared with laughter.

"Sonia!"

"Sonia!"

Mrs. Preston’s voice suddenly rang out from outside the door.

"Sonia, it’s Mom! I don’t have my keys, can you come open the door for me?"

"Coming!" Sonia Quincy called out quickly, then said into her phone, "My mom’s home. I have to go."

"Okay!" the three of them replied in unison.

Sonia Quincy hung up, got off the sofa, and hurried to the door.

"Mom..."

"Sonia!"

The moment the door opened, before Sonia Quincy could even react, Mrs. Preston suddenly pulled her into a tight hug.
