Chapter 134: Chapter 137: Harassed by Ethan Lockwood
Evan Yates was highly efficient. The next day, just after lunch, Sonia Quincy received the investment agreement and Ronan Quinn’s personal file from him.
Sonia Quincy skipped the investment agreement and directly opened the document related to Ronan Quinn.
But the next second, Evan Yates sent another voice message.
Sonia Quincy instinctively tapped on it.
"Sonia, give me a bit. I’m heading to the hospital now to sign the contract with you."
Sonia thought for a moment, then replied, "The contract can wait. First, come with me to find Yvette Fuller."
"Hm?" Felix Preston looked up from his hospital bed. "Sonia, you’re not signing the contract first?"
Sonia Quincy shook her head. "No, I have to find Yvette Fuller first."
"Why?" Lynn Preston, who was peeling an apple, glanced up briefly in confusion. "Sonia, why are you in such a hurry to find Yvette Fuller? You’re signing a two-million contract today. Shouldn’t something that big take priority over her?"
Sonia Quincy shook her head again, a faint smile playing on her lips. "This contract is with your brother. Even though the amount is large, it’s ultimately between family. Delaying it a bit won’t matter."
"But Yvette Fuller and Ronan Quinn are different. The two of them are holding onto so many secrets. Every moment of delay adds more risk, so I have to prioritize this over signing the contract."
"Oh." Now Lynn Preston understood.

She quickly finished peeling the apple, put down the knife, and pressed the clean fruit into Felix Preston’s hand. Then she stood up from her chair and said, "Sonia, I’ll go with you, then. If Yvette Fuller and Ronan Quinn are capable of this, they must be difficult to handle. If I go with you, I can help you figure something out."
"Don’t." Sonia Quincy’s refusal was firm and decisive. "Lynn, you’re the last person who should go with me."
"Why?" Lynn Preston didn’t understand. "Is it because of Liam Joyce?"
"Yes." Sonia Quincy put down her phone, walked over to sit by Felix Preston’s hospital bed, and opened her mouth to accept a piece of apple from him.
"Liam Joyce is paying too much attention to you. He has people following you everywhere you go. If you come with me, his men will definitely see us approaching Yvette Fuller. That would tip them off and expose our plan, wouldn’t it?"
That made sense. Lynn Preston gave it some serious thought, then quietly sat back down in her chair.
"Okay, then. Be careful going by yourself, Sonia. Call us the moment anything happens."
Sonia Quincy had just swallowed the piece of apple when Felix immediately fed her another. Her mouth was so full that her reply came out muffled.
"Mhm, I know. Don’t worry..."
Half an hour later, Evan Yates’s car pulled up to the hospital entrance, and Sonia Quincy headed out alone with her bag.
Felix Preston was still practicing walking with crutches, so he could only see her to the door of the hospital room.
"Sonia, call me anytime if anything happens. I’m always here."
"Mhm." Sonia Quincy smiled and patted his hand, saying softly, "I know. You should go back inside."
After saying that, she turned to leave.
But Felix Preston gripped her hand, a hesitant look on his face.
"...What is it?" Sonia Quincy looked at him, confused.
"Ahem..." He cleared his throat and pointed a finger at his own mouth, his hint obvious.
"...Ahem." Sonia Quincy mimicked him, clearing her own throat, then tipped her chin in Lynn Preston’s direction.
"..." Felix Preston’s face fell instantly.
Seeing his pouty, aggrieved expression, Sonia Quincy’s heart softened. She touched her fingers to her lips, then quickly pressed them to the corner of Felix’s mouth.
Though the kiss was a bit hasty, it was better than nothing.

Felix Preston gave a haughty little smirk, a hint of a real smile finally returning to his face.
"Go on." He reached out to straighten Sonia Quincy’s collar, covering the faint red mark on her neck. He was finally willing to let her leave.
"Bye." Sonia Quincy waved at him and turned to leave.
CLICK...
The hospital room door closed softly, and Felix Preston limped back, leaning on his crutches.
"Don’t you have to work overtime today?" Seeing Lynn Preston lounging on the sofa and scrolling through her phone, Felix Preston felt inexplicably annoyed.
"Nope," Lynn Preston replied lazily. "I worked overtime for five straight days last week. It’s about time I got a break."
"...Oh." Felix Preston tore his displeased gaze away from her and went to sit on the edge of the bed.
"Actually, you should be working overtime today," he said suddenly a moment later, completely out of the blue.
"...What?!" Lynn Preston was aghast.
DING—
The elevator doors opened on the first floor. Sonia Quincy waited for the crowd gathered at the doors to disperse before she slowly stepped out.
However, before she could even fully exit the elevator, a tall figure approached her head-on.
She glanced up and was instantly repulsed by the sight of Ethan Lockwood.
It wasn’t a physical revulsion, but the kind born from pure, unadulterated dislike.
Not wanting to be near him, she turned to the side, intending to sidle past and be on her way.
But Ethan Lockwood, acting as if he’d seen her coming, grabbed her wrist the moment she moved. With a slight tug, he pulled her back into the elevator.
He then closed the elevator doors and pressed the button for the top floor.
"..." Sonia Quincy frowned, resisting the urge to roll her eyes. "Ethan Lockwood, have you never been in an elevator before?"
"Heh..." Ethan Lockwood actually had the gall to chuckle.
"Of course I’ve been in an elevator. It just feels like it’s been a while since I’ve seen you, so I wanted to take this opportunity to have a proper chat."

Sonia said, "...In a hospital elevator?"
Ethan Lockwood tilted his head and smiled at her. "This encounter was just so sudden, I haven’t had time to find a more suitable location, have I?"
"...You’re insane," was Sonia Quincy’s succinct assessment.
Ethan Lockwood just raised an eyebrow, not in the least bit offended.
"Looking at that belly of yours, you must be due in less than two months, right?"
Sonia Quincy reached out to press the button for the first floor. "None of your damn business," she snapped.
Ethan Lockwood knew she was in a bad mood, so he simply ignored her hostile words.
"You’re that far along, and Felix Preston can still bear to let you run all over the place?"
"..." Sonia Quincy shot him an impatient glare, ignoring his question.
He gazed at Sonia Quincy’s profile. She wore no makeup, yet she was still strikingly beautiful. Suddenly, he thought she was gorgeous—even more so than Cecilia Quincy.
Cecilia Quincy’s looks leaned toward the sweet side, the kind one could easily tire of. Sonia Quincy, however, had a cool edge to her sweetness. She was glamorous yet elegant, a captivating sight no matter when you looked at her.
"Sonia." A look of fascination came over Ethan Lockwood’s face. His voice dropped to a suggestive whisper. "I’ve known you for so long. How is it that I’m only just now realizing how beautiful you are?"
