Chapter 398: Chapter 398: I’ll Rip Your Mouth Off

The chaos outside the hospital room didn’t last long. The sniper on the roof was killed on the spot, and their accomplice was captured alive.

Most of those who had been shot were hit in the arms and legs, so the hospital’s surgeons could operate to remove the bullets.

The vice director of surgery had several elite surgeons on standby, and the medical students quickly calmed down as well.

They were all rubbing their hands together, eager to assist. They had just witnessed an exceptional surgery.

Now, they were all eager for some hands-on practice. Once the vice director had arranged everything, he went to knock on the door of the hospital room.

After getting Dean Xiao’s permission, Mu Ziquan ordered his Hidden Guard, Mu Shan, to open the door.

A moment ago, Mu Shan had whispered in his ear, "Master, I waited until one o’clock but never saw her leave. So, I came to you for instructions."

"She arrived right on time at eight-thirty. What more is there to say?" Mu Ziquan said with a proud smile.

He looked as if her glory was his own, as though the incredible woman really were his great-aunt.

Inside the room, the vice director witnessed a shocking scene: a woman was leading the surgery, while their own respected dean and director were acting as her assistants.

Even more horrifying, Professor Xia was lying on the operating table, his sterile gown cut open down the middle.

He stammered, "Wh-What is...?"

Mu Shan cut the stuttering man off, his voice deadpan and laced with contempt.

"Professor Xia was just shot in the chest. Divine Doctor Su Gu is operating on him."

"Sh-She’s Divine Doctor Su Gu?" The vice director had been assigned to other procedures by Dean Xiao, so he hadn’t been present for Mu Ziquan’s surgery.

But he had heard the students who were present today talking about her with awe just outside.

Mu Shan rolled his eyes at the man. He had no idea this "stuttering man" was a vice director.

The vice director was in his forties. The person he admired most was Vice Director Xia, and he knew that the person Vice Director Xia admired most was Divine Doctor Su Gu.

He was still in his sterile scrubs, so without a second thought, he immediately squeezed into the room.

Xia Qiuming’s bullet was still lodged in his chest cavity. Even though the bleeding had been stopped, the bullet had to be removed as soon as possible.

’Another pair of hands would be useful,’ she thought. She immediately began directing the vice director with just her eyes.

Gu Jiaojiao was experienced in extracting bullets, but Xia Qiuming’s was dangerously close to his heart, so the procedure took her a considerable amount of time.

The surgery didn’t conclude until nightfall. She had mixed her homemade wound-healing salve with spiritual spring water.

As a result, when Xia Qiuming came to, he was completely lucid. "Master, if it weren’t for you today, I would be dead!"

"Yes, that was terrifying," Dean Xiao said, his heart still pounding with fear.

"Have someone move them to a VIP room. I hear the threat to the hospital has been neutralized. I’ll stay with you tonight, so you two can rest and recover without worry."

Gu Jiaojiao comforted them in a low voice. ’It’s not easy being a master and a respected elder,’ she thought with a sigh.

After they were moved to the VIP room, Gu Jiaojiao took off her sterile scrubs. While changing, she entered her space and drank a bowl of spiritual spring water.

She didn’t dare soak in the Spiritual Spring, as she had no time to reapply her makeup, and she hadn’t even had a chance to eat.

She had been hungry all day, but a bowl of spiritual spring water was enough to do the trick. The pangs of hunger quickly vanished.

Gu Jiaojiao knew the hospital would probably have food arranged for her. And sure enough, as she reentered the room, she saw the vice director himself pushing in a food cart.

"Divine Doctor Su, I wasn’t sure what you like to eat, so I just had them prepare a variety of dishes," the vice director said, fawning over her.

Gu Jiaojiao’s mouth twitched as she looked at the cart piled high with food. Suppressing a smile, she said, "Thank you, that’s very thoughtful of you."

"Don’t mention it. I’m just glad if you like it."

"What about the others?" Gu Jiaojiao asked, walking over to the dining table in the room.

"Dean Xiao and the director went to the cafeteria. I wanted to bring your meal to you first."

The vice director didn’t tell Gu Jiaojiao that Dean Xiao had wanted to personally select and deliver her meal. He had managed to snag the task by insisting the dean was hungry and should go eat first.

"Professor Xia’s wound is on his chest, so he can’t eat yet. Arrange for a nurse to put him on a nutritional IV."

"Of course, Divine Doctor. You eat first. I’ll take care of my master’s IV drip," the vice director said at once.

Xia Qiuming glanced at Gu Jiaojiao. He felt like he could eat something, but he didn’t dare make a peep.

"Mu Ziquan’s wound is on his leg, so he can eat. Just no spicy foods or anything else that might hinder wound healing."

"Uh... Divine Doctor, you eat first. I’ll see to it," Mu Shan immediately replied.

He was looking at Gu Jiaojiao with utter adoration, but to her, his gaze was like a hungry wolf pouncing on its prey. "What’s with that look?"

"I... I just admire you so much!" Mu Shan immediately ducked his head and ran out of the room.

Gu Jiaojiao turned and called after him, "While you’re out, call my husband and tell him I’m staying at the hospital overnight to keep an eye on my patients!"

"You got it!" Mu Shan’s voice replied, and then he was gone.

Gu Jiaojiao moved the small dining table over to Mu Ziquan’s bedside, preparing to eat with him.

The vice director, ever so perceptive, arranged the dishes on the table, deftly scooped a bowl of rice, and handed it to Mu Ziquan. "Com... rade... please, eat."

"Thank you, Director," Mu Ziquan said, his voice as cold as ice.

’If this clueless, stuttering fool hadn’t meddled, she would have served my rice herself.’

"Mu Ziquan, does your wound hurt? You don’t want to eat?" Gu Jiaojiao asked, noticing he was just holding his bowl and not picking up his chopsticks.

"You first, Divine Doctor," Mu Ziquan said sheepishly, his voice suddenly gentle.

The surgical vice director was speechless.

’Does this patient have to treat people so differently?!’

’I mean, I also admire the Divine Doctor. I get so excited I stutter and can’t help but lower my voice around her.’

’But it’s still annoying to be on the receiving end of such blatant favoritism!’ "Comrade, would you like me to get you some of the other dishes?"

"Thanks, but it’s my leg that’s injured, not my hands."

"Pfft..." Gu Jiaojiao let out an uncharitable laugh.

As they were eating, Mr. Xia rushed into the room, followed by Uncle Xia and a group of people from the Xia family.

The moment he entered, Uncle Xia started wailing at the top of his lungs, "Xiao Ming, how could this happen to you!"

"Please be quiet. The patients need to rest," Gu Jiaojiao warned, her expression cold.

"You... How can you say that? You’re not even—" Before Uncle Xia could finish, the vice director cut him off.

"Shut your mouth! Do you have any idea who you’re talking to?" His entire demeanor had changed; he wasn’t stuttering in the slightest.

"OH, what are we going to do? My darling son, if anything should happen to you, what would your mother do? WAHHH..."

Xia Qiuming’s mother, overcome with grief, had been walking behind the others. She was wailing her heart out, sounding as bleak and helpless as if her son had actually died.

Gu Jiaojiao was speechless.

"Mom, can you stop wailing like you’re at a funeral? Nobody died!" Xia Qiuming, who had been listening from his bed, couldn’t stop himself from speaking up.

Mrs. Xia wiped away her tears, rushed over to glance at her son, then pointed at Xia Qiuming and furiously berated him.

"You little brat! I’m crying because you’re making me so angry! Say one more word and I’ll rip your mouth off!"
